The Shady Rest Band is a bluegrass influenced band based out of Austin, Texas. Playing all over central Texas, Dallas, and Houston this hard working band is gaining steam and has big plans for 2011. With a catalog of over 50 original songs and sets highlighted by traditional bluegrass, folk, country, and blues tunes The Shady Rest Band is one of the best bands you have not heard of.
Playing weekly at the famous Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos the band hosts their Friday night happy hour acoustic show. For almost a year they have drawn crowds that come to sit and listen to new original songs and old cover tunes, with guests sitting in almost every show. The Shady Rest Band also holds residency on 6th Street in the live music capital of the world at Beale Street Tavern where they can be seen every other bluegrass Tuesday. Having opened for nationally touring artists such as Robert Earl Keen and James McMurtry the band has growing fan base in Houston and have become regulars at the one and only Last Concert Cafe. Playing at least 3 gigs a week in and around Austin, The Shady Rest Band is known for their relaxed approach and tight sets of well written material.
