THE NUTTY PROFESSOR

This film event first appeared on the "Top Hat And Buttered Popcorn" program that aired bi-monthly on the Fairfax County (VA) cable television station, Channel 10. It was hosted by John Savers. The introduction to the original review failed to upload. Still, a fairly detailed plotline with commentary was provided. This movie was a Eddie Murphy variation of the well-known character created by Jerry Lewis. The film borrowed thematically from the Jekyl-and-Hyde conceit, however manifesting the Hyde character as an out-of-control Casanova. Hence, the "horror" involved is horribly funny. The film had some curious symbolism introduced at the film outset which, in conjunction with the alter ego name of the professor, suggested that Eddie Murphy was "reaching out" to some friends.
