1 Page Vs. 2 Page Resume - Resume Tips

1 Page Vs. 2 Page Resume - Resume Tips - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. A question that I get a lot is “How long should my resume be?” Many people were told, when they graduated from college, that their resume needs to only be one page, and that is not necessarily true. If you have fifteen years of experience that would be relevant to an employer, you are probably going to need to have a two-page resume. I would much rather see a two-page resume that has a good amount of whitespace on it than a one-page resume where you are using an 8-point font and you do not have any whitespace and everything is all smushed up on the page. Nobody wants to read that. So I always tell people that, really, your resume needs to be as long as it needs to be and as long as it is clear, concise, correct and relevant. Make sure it is compelling. If you are telling a compelling story and the pages are laid out well and are easy to read, people might want to keep reading. Write your resume so that it is clear, concise, correct and relevant. You certainly do not want to tell somebody more information than they need to know and you do not want it to go on and on and on, but you do want it to be long enough to adequately show that you have the right credentials for the job.
