Self-Defense Workout: Side Elbow - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. We are gonna take a look at the Side Elbow. It is a great elbow for defense if you are dealing with multiple attackers. God forbid you ever get into an altercation, but of course, it could happen. So, if Nicole is here, and she is getting into some sort of discussion or altercation with someone in front of her, and all of a sudden I come along to engage her, as well. She cannot turn her attention away from the person that is in front of her, obviously. So as I come forward, she is gonna be prepared for that, seeing me out of the corner of her eye. She is gonna step, cover her neck, come at me with that elbow, and strike here. OK. Again, she sees me stepping forward, covering the neck, step, to the side, and hitting with the elbow. It is important you cover the neck, because, obviously, there are a lot of vital arteries in the neck, and you do not wanna expose those. You wanna be protected, and you do not wanna take your attention away from the person in front of you. As you step to the side, you are making a little bit of space, but you are still able to engage the assailant that is in front of you. So again, as I come forward to attack Nicole, she is gonna come, move, protect her neck, and come in with that elbow, here. Now if you do the movement moving down the mat or moving down whatever space you are using for your workout, that can be great for your upper and lower body. You are moving your legs, you are using your arms, obviously your shoulder, your pecs your back even. It is really a great workout, obviously going down the mat doing one side, and down the mat doing the other side, preparing you for an altercation on both sides, but also, for your fitness level. And make sure you are using both sides of your body.
