00:00So far this year, 103 people have lost their lives on New South Wales roads, that is far
00:05too many. Of particular concern, 27 of those people were riding motorcycle. What we want
00:14people to do over the holiday periods is to understand the consequences that flow from
00:20not complying with our road rules. Every time we get into those vehicles, we have an obligation
00:25to ourselves, our passengers and anyone else who uses our roads to get to our destination
00:30safely without hurting anyone else. Last Easter, seven people lost their lives on New
00:37South Wales roads. This year we want that number to be zero. If you are travelling, anticipate
00:44heavier traffic. Our roads will be busy. If you've got extra passengers and extra luggage
00:50in your vehicle, that's extra weight, your car will take longer to stop. In good conditions,
00:56braking from 100 kilometres an hour will take you about the length of a football field to
01:00pull up, so please appreciate the dynamics that go with operating your vehicle. We want
01:06everyone to enjoy the Easter and Anzac period, but please, if you are using our roads, do
01:12so safely, with due care to everyone else. We have seen 103 fatalities on New South Wales
01:19roads already this year. That's ahead of last year's figures. It's well ahead of the rolling
01:24average and we all need to work together to bring that number down. We had 13 lives lost
01:32across the Easter and Anzac days, weekends put together last year. We have to work together
01:38to ensure that that doesn't happen again. And in the most recent incident, an 18 year old
01:43motorcyclist lost his life yesterday in Musselbrook in a collision with a light utility. This is
01:52the 27th motorcycle fatality for the year, which as New South Wales Police have told us means
01:59one in three deaths on the road this year are motorcycle riders. We talk a lot about numbers,
02:06but they're not statistics. These are lives. These are parents. These are children. They're
02:11best friends. They're workmates who have not come home from these incidents.
