00:00To Celtic Park now, where Brendan Rodgers demand need his players, get out the comfort zone for the visit of Kilmarnock, who last won there in 2012.
00:08Your commentator is Liam McLeod.
00:12North Celtic are very close to their latest coronation, to the point it could happen this weekend.
00:18A victory today would move them to within a couple of points of officially winning a 13th crown in 14 seasons.
00:24Up against the Kilmarnock side, disappointed to have been consigned to life in the bottom six.
00:28There's a first start since early February for Fit Again Scales.
00:33You have to go back even further to find Forrest in the Celtic XI, as he starts for the first time since the first half goal blitz of Ross County here at the end of November.
00:43A first win since the middle of February for Kilmarnock last time out.
00:46Donnelly comes into the side, as does Watson, who scored a late equaliser here in last season's 1-1 draw.
00:53Well, Rodgers and McInnes have gone up against each other plenty over the years.
01:01Well, Kelly beat Celtic twice last season, both times in Ayrshire.
01:05It's been nearly 13 years since they tasted victory here at Celtic Park when they did so under Kenny Shields.
01:11As that's laid off for Hitate, who scores a wonderful goal!
01:20Well, this was meant to be party day for Celtic.
01:24Their defeat in Perth last week put paid to that.
01:28Well, this is the kind of goal that's fitting to win a title.
01:30Wonderful finish from Hitate, as he swerved that into the top right corner.
01:38Nothing O'Hara could do about that.
01:41And Celtic have the early goal Kelly dreaded.
01:47Not the start he wanted.
01:52It's not often Celtic surrender a lead.
01:56Kelly were the last team actually to come from behind to beat them.
02:00Look at that last season.
02:05Engels slips it to Johnston.
02:07Midas there, and it's the easiest goal he'll score all season.
02:13And that's the 31st that he has scored this season.
02:18Well, I think it's Mayo, yeah, at the back post who couldn't prevent it getting through to Celtic's top scorer.
02:31And Celtic have two goals in less than two minutes.
02:35And a 2-0 lead.
02:37And this is the reaction Rodgers wanted.
02:48There's Johnston.
02:50It's had another fine season.
02:53Scales.
02:55Well, he's encouraged to shoot.
02:56He's on target too.
02:57Nohara beats it away.
03:03Got plenty behind that one, Scales.
03:05William Scales.
03:15To bide his time out with the injured cheekbone.
03:19Carter Vickers winds one up!
03:21And my goodness, what a goal!
03:22Oh, a broad smile on the face of the US international.
03:31Little wonder.
03:34What about that from the centre-back?
03:36It's incredible.
03:38He'll struggle to score a better one than his entire career.
03:41And Kilmarnock find themselves three goals down.
03:54Celtic touching 90% possession.
03:58Kili simply have not been able to live with them.
04:02Not many can when they're in this kind of mood.
04:05That's brilliant.
04:06Forrest to Johnston.
04:08Hitate.
04:09He's got an eternity to turn it home.
04:11Which he does.
04:15We're barely into the second quarter of the match.
04:18And it's 4-0 to the champions.
04:22Who are turning on the style in the Glasgow sunshine.
04:28Little give and go between Forrest and Johnston is wonderful.
04:32And Hitate.
04:34Shuffled on to his right.
04:36Fires it into the net.
04:37For his second.
04:38And Celtic are well out of sight.
04:44As they are at the top of the top line.
04:48Streets ahead.
04:50Despite a couple of defeats in their last three.
04:53Which is more like it.
04:54Kili have to be careful with regards to the goal difference.
05:00Because it could be crucial.
05:02Coming into this weekend.
05:03Just a point above the relegation playoff water line.
05:07And Derek McInnes will be fully aware of that right now.
05:10Big switch from Donnelly and he's found Armstrong.
05:21In it comes.
05:22And in it goes.
05:23Well it's surely a cross.
05:29But Danny Armstrong.
05:31Has found the far corner.
05:34For what is his first goal.
05:35Not just of this season.
05:36But in over a year.
05:37Which seems remarkable.
05:39As fortuitous as it was.
05:42And Kilmarnock are back to within three.
05:44Not touched by Ida.
05:54Very well done.
05:55Hattabdi's on a hat trick.
05:57Maida's there.
05:57On the follow up.
06:01A second for Dazen Maida.
06:04And it's been checked for an offside.
06:06As you can see.
06:07Adam Ida just off.
06:14Back it comes there for Murray.
06:18And be annoyed.
06:20He's scooped it over.
06:22And a rear foray forward for Kelly.
06:30Kilmarnock left frustrated in their attempts to finish in the top six again this season.
06:35They were fourth last term.
06:38Bottom six for them this time around.
06:40Engel's corner.
06:43Hattate.
06:44Then McGregor.
06:50Shota.
06:50For Hattate.
06:52It's been better from Kelly defensively in the second half.
06:56And that's punched away by Ohara.
06:58Engel's is spotted.
06:59A cap there.
07:03Denied by the cold frame.
07:07They have been more resolute.
07:08Kelly.
07:09Denny McInnes made a couple of changes at the break.
07:11And Daba.
07:12Moving into midfield.
07:13Helped too.
07:14And then it's a wild swipe from the Belgian.
07:18Who thought he'd made it 5-1.
07:22Nice little chip towards the far corner.
07:24And he berated himself for not hitting the target.
07:30Carter Vickers.
07:38Carter Vickers.
07:40Hattate.
07:42Finds Rolston.
07:43Onto his right.
07:44And the fifth arrives.
07:47In the final minute of stoppage time.
07:50Rolston who scored late against Kilmarnock in the opening weekend of the Premiership season.
07:56Rolston has repeated the trick here.
07:59And Celtic now just two points away from the title.
08:06And it will be all eyes on Pataudry on Sunday.
08:10Where a Rangers defeat would rubber stamp their latest success under that man.
08:17The last kick of the ball was Rolston's.
08:23And it's a comfortable win for the champions who impressed particularly in that first half.
08:31And it finishes Celtic 5, Kilmarnock 1.
08:34As frustrated as I was last week.
08:38That was a brilliant reaction by the players.
08:42Yeah, the first 30 minutes of the game is as good as what we've been.
08:46Actually, it's been...
08:47That was more like what we've been for large parts of the season.
08:50So, yeah.
08:52Winning attitudes.
08:54Mixing with talent.
08:55And you get that performance.
08:57You've got to say a combination of Celtic being first class and top draw.
09:01And when they're like that, you think, how can they lose games?
09:04You know, how can they lose games in the Premier League?
09:06They don't lose very often.
09:07But when you see them as good as they are.
09:09But second half, far more kind of shape about us.
09:13Maybe a bit less of an attacking threat.
09:15But certainly a far better defensive display.
09:18It's the result that all our competitors were looking for.
09:21And we've got to make sure we take ownership of that.
09:24But we've got to bounce back into work.
09:26And ready for the fight that's ahead of us.
09:28Because every team in the bottom six, once these fixtures go over at the weekend,
09:32is in a fight.
09:32And we've just got to make sure we win those fights.
09:35Today, we never won the fight.
09:36But this isn't the fight we needed to win.
09:38In terms of the overall picture, clearly the title could arrive tomorrow.
09:42It might be delayed a little bit there.
09:44You're on the verge of it.
09:45How do you feel to be at this stage of the season and almost have that done?
09:50Well, we're nearly there.
09:51You're absolutely right.
09:51And I feel much, much happier than I was last week.
09:56A tad frustrated that we couldn't do it today.
09:59Because if we had that attitude in the game, we would have done.
10:03But it's gone.
10:04We draw a line under it.
10:05There's a big learning in that.
10:06And then you see the response over the course of the week's work and today.
10:12So it comes when it comes.
10:14You want to get over the line.
10:15That was a brilliant performance today.
10:17And it puts us in a perfect place going into actually the semi-final.
10:21And I look forward to that.
10:23Total domination from Celtic.
10:26You had the game won inside 24 minutes, really.
10:30We both thought that Greg Taylor was immense today.
10:33Really strong performance from him, Stephen.
10:34Yeah, it was.
10:35I think he was key.
10:37I thought you could see within the first five minutes.
10:39His position, he was picking up in the middle of the pitch.
10:43Being another number six, effectively.
10:45Caused so many problems.
10:47And it was inevitable before long.
10:48He'd have been a key part of Celtic getting chances.
10:52He was early on.
10:53But like I said, within the first five minutes,
10:55he's picking up that position.
10:56And Comaner are trying to lock on.
10:58And if you see it here, he comes right in the pitch,
11:00which then opens that wide pass to Maeda if wanted.
11:04Or as he drives forward, it just creates that big space.
11:07And Bobby Wales, who was trying to do both centre-halves,
11:11can't do everything.
11:12He then, Danny Armstrong, has to go out and put some pressure on.
11:16But the quality of play here, I think Celtic,
11:19that's sink within the players.
11:21And understanding when to lay it first time,
11:23when to take a touch.
11:24It was evident the day all the way through.
11:26Brilliant.
11:26I mean, I think after last weekend's performance,
11:28the players knew that they had to step it up today.
11:30And they certainly did that.
11:31Yeah, that's it.
11:33But again, Greg Taylor, for me, was instrumental.
11:36He brought an energy.
11:37His intelligence of picking up good positions.
11:40His weight of passing.
11:40This is the one-two touch I'm talking about.
11:42This is great football from Celtic.
11:45It's what the manager would have wanted.
11:47Kilmarnock could defend that better.
11:48Somebody could put pressure on the ball,
11:50rather than letting Johnson get the overlap.
11:52But it was all about Celtic's tempo.
11:55The changes, three changes.
11:57Greg Taylor's come in.
11:57Scales has come in.
11:58James Forrest's come in.
12:00And it's probably...
12:02What happened last week was the worst thing
12:04that could happen for Kilmarnock.
12:05Celtic have got a semi-final next week.
12:07They need to put a performance on.
12:09The managers obviously had a goal.
12:11But the quality of their performance,
12:12the quality of their goals was hard to...
12:14Greg Taylor, though.
12:15It looks like he's not going to be signing
12:18a new contract in the summer, possibly,
12:20and moving on.
12:21When you look at that level of performance there,
12:24it'll be hard to replace.
12:25I know they've got Ciarán Tierney coming in,
12:27but he's a quality player.
12:30He's a fantastic player.
12:32He'll be a big loss for Celtic.
12:34I think he's...
12:35Him personally is in a situation
12:38where Ciarán Tierney's coming back
12:39and Everett will be number one.
12:40Similar to where he is in the Scotland set-up,
12:42he's got world-class defenders ahead of him.
12:45As much as how good a quality he is,
12:47he's maybe looking at going,
12:48well, I'm not going to happily settle for that.
12:51And I'm sure the club are doing all they can,
12:54but I think there's more than just
12:56deciding I'm going to sign or stay.
12:59He'll weigh up his options
13:00at a critical time of his career.
13:02The performance, as we mentioned,
13:03brilliant.
13:03The tempo.
13:04Over 1,000 passes in the game today.
13:0787% possession.
13:09And no end of really exciting,
13:10entertaining football.
13:11No, it was both in and out of possession.
13:14And you could clearly tell last week
13:16the managers had an impact this week
13:19to say it must change.
13:20One, with the changes in the starting line-up.
13:23But secondly, the tempo they played at.
13:25And you hear managers saying,
13:27we need to move the ball quicker.
13:28This is it.
13:29It's when it gets across the pitch,
13:30it's one and two touch.
13:31And then if we lose it,
13:33our first reaction is go after the ball.
13:35And that was abundantly clear
13:37for the full first half.
13:40The second half was a non-event.
13:42But Derek McInnes is right.
13:44When Celtic are at this level,
13:45there's nobody that can compete with them.
13:47I don't think.
13:48They're just so well drilled
13:50that you can see they're a main squad
13:52that's been together for a few years.
13:55The quality of this goal,
13:56it's unbelievable.
13:58The calmness Hitati has in the middle of the ball.
14:01As Brendan Rodger mentioned
14:02on his post-match interview there,
14:05it's a great way to warm up
14:06for the Cup semi-final
14:08that's coming next Saturday.
14:10For St Johnstone,
14:11I mean,
14:12they beat Celtic
14:13only last week.
14:15Was that a one-off for Celtic?
14:17Can you see that happening again
14:19in this Cup game?
14:20With it being at Hampden,
14:21you know,
14:22a big expansive pitch
14:23like Celtic Park.
14:24I think if they hadn't won last week,
14:26you feel there's more chance
14:28they can go and do that.
14:29Just before we go into that,
14:31these heat maps that we're seeing,
14:33that shows you where the play was.
14:35The more intense white and yellow
14:36is where the game was.
14:38Kilmarnock just couldn't get into
14:39Celtic's final third
14:40and Celtic was peppering
14:43the defensive third of Kilmarnock.
14:44But I think for St Johnstone,
14:48it's going to be tough next week.
14:49Really tough.
14:50OK.
14:50Finally,
14:51the Teesside Derby
14:52and after last weekend's
14:53brilliant win against Celtic,
14:55St Johnstone could cut the gap
14:56at the bottom to two points
14:58with a win against United
14:59here at Tanadise.
15:00Commentary from Andrew Petrie.
15:03Try telling the 10,000 fans in here
15:06that this game doesn't have
15:08as much riding on it
15:09as the other three o'clock kick-offs.
15:11United want to strengthen
15:12their European bid
15:13while St Johnstone are looking
15:15to continue their great escape.
15:17They beat Celtic last week.
15:19Can they pick up a first win
15:20over United this season?
15:22Jim Goodwin makes two changes
15:24from the side that won 1-0
15:25over Hearts last weekend.
15:27Midfielder Alan Campbell
15:28and striker Louis Malt
15:29make way for Christian
15:30Trapanovsky and Glenn Middleton.
15:32Just the one change
15:33from the side that beat
15:34the league leaders last weekend,
15:35but it's a real blow.
15:37Dre Wright is out
15:37with an ankle strain,
15:38so Barry Douglas
15:39comes in to start.
15:40Stevenson whips the ball forward.
15:46Strain trying to flip
15:47to Sam Dolby.
15:49Tries to cut back
15:50for Middleton.
15:51Jinking onto the left.
15:53Gets it to Will Ferry
15:54who lines one up!
15:56That wasn't far away at all.
15:59Plenty fans around the ground
16:01thought that had crept in.
16:03Really caught hold
16:04of that Will Ferry.
16:05It's been a decent start
16:11from United.
16:13Not too many
16:14clear-cut chances.
16:16Johnston just trying
16:17to play their way
16:18into this.
16:19It's a slack pass.
16:20That's going to go
16:21all the way behind
16:22for a corner.
16:25As Fisher watches on
16:26not too impressed

16:48St Johnston
16:49were so resolute
16:50last week
16:51but that's far
16:53far too easy
16:54for the hosts.
16:56A dreadful corner
16:57to give away.
16:58Pretty statuesque

19:23taken out
19:24ball whipped
19:27in
19:28Gallagher
19:28gets free
19:29oh it's
19:30just over
19:30the bar
19:30United
19:33have controlled
19:34most of
19:34this but
19:34they need
19:35to find
19:35a way
19:35to kill
19:36this game
19:36off
19:37Kempioca
19:42against
19:43Ross Doherty
19:44comes inside
19:46trying to make
19:48room for the
19:48shot
19:49instead he
19:49lays it
19:50off
19:50to Kerry
19:52out to
19:52McPake
19:53who's away
19:54from
19:54Strain
19:54gets the
19:55shot away
19:56it's into
19:57the side
19:58netting
19:58I think
19:58there was
19:59a touch
19:59on the
19:59way
19:59through
20:00Jack
20:00Walton
20:00might have
20:01got a
20:01hand to
20:02that
20:02well McPake
20:04has been
20:04lively
20:04since coming
20:05on
20:05big shoes
20:06to fill
20:07in
20:07Steven
20:07Duke
20:07McKenna's
20:08place
20:08but he's
20:09done well
20:10that's a
20:15lovely turn
20:15from Payton
20:16to find
20:16Stevenson
20:17Sibild's
20:17free
20:18oh he's
20:19picked out
20:19Louis Moult
20:19it must
20:20be
20:20oh brilliant
20:21save
20:21Fisher
20:21that was
20:24a huge
20:25opportunity
20:25for Louis
20:26Moult
20:26but fantastic
20:27from Fisher
20:28to keep
20:28St Johnston
20:29in this
20:29Kempioca
20:32turns Sibild
20:33on the edge
20:33of the box
20:34tries to
20:34get the
20:34shot away
20:35come out
20:37as far
20:38as Nicky
20:38Clark
20:39St Johnston
20:40knocking on
20:40the door
20:41they need
20:42just one
20:43chance
20:43here's
20:43McPake
20:44oh it's
20:45just wide
20:46I thought
20:48that might
20:48have nestled
20:49into the
20:49bottom
20:50corner
20:50but it's
20:53a crucial
20:53block
20:54a crucial
20:54deflection
20:55to take
20:56this wide
20:56Kerry whips
21:00into the
21:01front post
21:01oh Barry
21:02Douglas
21:03against his
21:04former
21:05club
21:05it just
21:08came to
21:08him a little
21:09too quickly
21:09maybe
21:10wasn't
21:10expecting
21:10it
21:11it's
21:12just
21:12the
21:13wrong
21:13side
21:13of
21:13the
21:14post
21:14a
21:16devastating
21:17blow
21:17for
21:17St Johnston
21:18Mackenzie
21:21Kirk
21:21races
21:22onto it
21:23brilliant
21:24hold up
21:25play
21:25Sidipe
21:26into
21:27Kempioca
21:27last
21:28chance
21:28oh he
21:29drags it
21:30wide
21:31well it
21:33never
21:33looked
21:33like
21:35trickling
21:36into that
21:36bottom
21:37corner
21:37Kempioca
21:39opened up
21:39the body
21:40but never
21:41on target
21:41and St
21:42Johnston
21:43just can't
21:43find a
21:43route to
21:44goal
21:44St
21:46Johnston
21:46are a good
21:47footballing
21:47team
21:47we spoke
21:49about trying
21:49to press
21:50high up the
21:50pitch and
21:50being aggressive
21:51with that
21:51I actually
21:52thought we
21:52forced them
21:53into going
21:54longer than
21:55they probably
21:55would have
21:55liked a lot
21:57of the time
21:57there's things
21:59we can do
21:59better
21:59we can be
22:00better on
22:00the ball
22:01in possession
22:01didn't really
22:03create enough
22:05clear cut
22:06chances from
22:06open play
22:07we had a
22:07couple of
22:08half decent
22:08ones in the
22:09second half
22:09Louis Mould
22:09is unlucky
22:10with one
22:10off the
22:11line
22:12but the
22:12set plays
22:13has been
22:14a big
22:15thing for us
22:15this season
22:16we work
22:17hard on them
22:17in training
22:18as you would
22:18imagine
22:18and we get
22:20our rewards
22:20today again
22:21with a great
22:21ball in from
22:22Will Ferry
22:22it bounces about
22:25in the box
22:25a little bit
22:25and thankfully
22:26Manny Adebillaga
22:27is there
22:27to tap it
22:28in
22:28we did
22:28play well
22:29today
22:29and that's
22:30we know
22:32that
22:32we know
22:33that
22:33we are
22:34I have
22:34said it
22:34to know
22:35we are
22:35in a good
22:36form
22:36we do
22:36a lot
22:37of right
22:37things
22:37we just
22:38need to
22:39turn these
22:39for the
22:39results
22:40and that's
22:40of course
22:41in football
22:41it's the
22:41most hardest
22:42things
22:42but
22:43as everyone
22:44who saw
22:44the game
22:44today
22:45have seen
22:45us
22:46playing
22:46they see
22:47what we
22:47are all
22:48about
22:48and
22:48our players
22:49are tough
22:50boys
22:50they are
22:51good
22:51players
22:52but
22:52so are
22:53the opponents
22:53as well
22:53so we need
22:54to be ready
22:55but we
22:56have given
22:56us this
22:57chance
22:57now
22:58would we
23:01like to
23:01be closer
23:02to other
23:02teams
23:03of course
23:03but this
23:04where we
23:04are now
23:05it's a
23:05reality
23:06and we
23:07take it
23:07from here
23:07five games
23:08United make
23:10it three
23:10wins in a
23:11go
23:11to go
23:12joint
23:12third
23:13what a
23:13season
23:14they're
23:14having
23:14Steven
23:15Adebayega
23:15the match
23:16winner
23:16today
23:16an unlikely
23:17source
23:17for the
23:18match
23:18winning
23:18goal
23:19but he
23:19was the
23:19sharpest
23:19in the
23:20box
23:20when the
23:20ball
23:21broke
23:21them
23:21I think
23:22Dundee
23:22United
23:23have been
23:23a breath
23:24of fresh
23:24share
23:24the corner
23:26comes from
23:26probably the
23:27negative side
23:28of St Johnstone
23:29this season
23:29giving up
23:30needless
23:31either set
23:31plays or
23:32goals
23:32it's cheap
23:34isn't it
23:34it's cheap
23:34but then
23:35Dundee
23:36United in
23:37games where
23:37they've got to
23:38be the
23:38aggressor
23:39they're the
23:39ones that
23:39are pushing
23:40for third
23:40you just
23:41seem
23:41this could
23:42be a tough
23:42game for
23:43them
23:43but they
23:44get there
23:44defensively
23:45could have
23:45been better
23:45but Dundee
23:47United
23:47as Jim
23:48Goodman
23:48says
23:49they work
23:49in their
23:49set plays
23:50they've got
23:50bodies in
23:51the right
23:51areas
23:51and when you
23:52cover the
23:52different areas
23:53when the
23:54ball breaks
23:54you're always
23:55going to get
23:55a chance
23:55that is
23:569-1-0
23:57wins for
23:58Dundee
23:58United this
23:58season
23:59it just
23:59shows you
23:59how good
24:00defensively
24:00they've been
24:01and they
24:02must feel
24:02like when
24:02they score
24:03the first
24:03goal in
24:03the game
24:04they must
24:04be like
24:04we're going
24:05to win
24:05this
24:059-1-0
24:06towards
24:07towards even
24:07the end
24:07of the game
24:08St Johnson
24:08were throwing
24:09everything
24:09at them
24:10and at
24:11no point
24:11did I
24:12feel there
24:12was a
24:12panic
24:12I
24:13thought
24:13there
24:13was
24:13always
24:14an
24:14understanding
24:15there was
24:15a good
24:15structure
24:16the defenders
24:17are in the
24:17right
24:17positions
24:17nobody's
24:18jumping out of
24:19a position
24:19to slide
24:20and try and
24:20block
24:21it's all
24:21very measured
24:22and considered
24:22but that's been
24:24the basis of
24:24their season
24:25that's the
24:25foundations
24:25and you know
24:28how Jim Goodman
24:29was as a player
24:29yourself
24:30he'll have that
24:31organisation drilled
24:32into that squad
24:33from a St Johnson
24:34point of view
24:35five games left
24:36it's not looking
24:37great for them
24:38today was another
24:39blow especially
24:40after the
24:40great result
24:42last weekend
24:43against Celtic
24:44where do you
24:45stand on it
24:45can they get out
24:46of this
24:46can they escape
24:47this relegation
24:48automatic relegation
24:49I don't think
24:49they will
24:50but I think
24:50going into the
24:51split
24:52they want to
24:53be in touching
24:54distance
24:54now what
24:55their five points
24:56from 11th
24:57a few weeks ago
24:57was a lot more
24:58so that gives
24:59them hope
25:00they carry a threat
25:01a big threat
25:02and some weeks
25:03their defending
25:03is really good
25:04other weeks
25:05their defensive
25:06part isn't good
25:08and that's the
25:08problem
25:09but they give
25:10themselves a chance
25:10but it's a small
25:11chance
25:11it is a small
25:12chance indeed
25:13let's have a wee
25:14look at the table
25:15Celtic 16 clear
25:17at the top
25:17with Rangers
25:18Hibs and Aberdeen
25:19all playing tomorrow
25:20United in fourth
25:21on goal difference
25:22and St Mirren
25:23make up the top
25:24six
25:24Hearts 7th
25:25on 40 points
25:27with Motherwell
25:28one behind
25:28Kelly and
25:29County
25:30are both
25:31on 35
25:32points
25:33Dundee
25:34set 11th
25:34but could
25:35jump up
25:35the table
25:36tomorrow
25:36if they beat
25:37Hibs
25:37and St Johnstone
25:38will they remain
25:39at the bottom
25:40on 29 points
25:42and that is it
25:42for another
25:43Saturday
25:43thanks to Stephen
25:45for keeping me
25:45company
25:45and congratulations
25:46to St Mirren
25:47who make the top
25:48six for a third
25:49consecutive season
25:50goodbye
