00:30Good evening, we are only a handful of games into the new season but already two managers
00:45down. Luckily we have two of our own in the studio tonight, Barry Robson and Neil McCann
00:50analysing today's Premiership games. The first of which was at Den's Park as Dundee became
00:55the latest team to try and get any points at all from Jimmy Tolleen's Aberdeen. Alistair
01:00Lamont watched this one.
01:31While Ethan Ingram also starts with McGee injured and Adewumi on the bench.
01:35Fiam Schooney's recovery from illness means the captain is restored to the midfield in
01:39place of Paolo Versa. But the bad news for Don's fans is an injury to the league's top
01:44scorer Papa Gueye. He misses out altogether with Topi Keskinen back in to the starting
01:4911.
01:50There's going to be a minute's applause before kick-off following the tragic overnight news
01:57that Dundee's former player Fabian Caballero has passed away at the age of just 46.
02:04Clarkson with the dummy, almost getting it back, well read though by Portales, and Cometeo
02:30cool enough to find Cameron with a pass. And here's the Dundee counter, it's Tiffany.
02:38Bundles his way past a couple of challenges, Cameron's kept going, he's got Murray in the
02:42middle but he's gone for goal himself. And off target, in the end, from the young midfielder.
02:50A good counter this though by Dundee, having been under a bit of pressure, not a bad effort.
03:00Cometeo's misjudged that, Keskinen could be in here, Keskinen lays it back, there's
03:09the opening goal for Kevin Nisbet, stroking it into the bottom corner to give Aberdeen
03:16the lead. It's a terrific cool finish from Nisbet, but it owes a lot to the error from
03:25Cometeo, just doesn't deal with this through ball. Aberdeen changing to a back three to
03:32try and shore up a defence that has conceded too many goals, but mistakes like that don't
03:38help them, and Keskinen laid it on a plate for Nisbet, who steers it beyond McCracken,
03:45and Aberdeen are in front.
03:52Braybrooke, Tiffany, fouled.
04:04A young man on loan from Leicester, Tony Doherty hoping to make a similar impact to James Maddison
04:09at Aberdeen, let's see what he does with this free kick, it's dropped by Mitov, blasted
04:15towards goal, there was nothing given as Mitov claimed he was fouled, but Dundee couldn't
04:22capitalise. Mitov came out, it was Robertson of Dundee who was closest to him.
04:39He rather fell over his own feet there, and Aberdeen could be in once more, it's Keskinen,
04:50can he pick the right option here? Oh, yes he can! Aberdeen with a second, and having
04:57set up the first, Topi Keskinen rattles home the second. Dundee wanted a foul in the middle
05:06of the park, didn't seem to be too much wrong with that though, and it was all about whether
05:12Keskinen would shoot or pass to Nisbet, and you'd have to see he chose correctly, as McCracken
05:20failed to keep it out, too powerful for him, and Aberdeen with a two-goal lead just after
05:27the half hour. Here's Braybrooke, not a bad ball, it's over Murray, Devlin forces out
05:37the penalty, Larkesh will pick up, try and get it back in there, back with Cameron who's
05:44gone for goal, decent save from Mitov, saw it late I think. Back in from Ingram and knocked
05:51out once more, best effort from Dundee so far though, plenty on that shot did Lyle Cameron,
06:01and so too did Mitov on the save.
06:09McCracken goes route one, Simon Murray looking to get in here, he might be in here,
06:14the challenge comes in from Malloy, and the referee points to the spots.
06:19And then Malloy, who allowed Murray in initially,
06:22with a despairing challenge there, just catches the striker.
06:29And it's a lifeline for Dundee, as Murray against Mitov from 12 yards, up he steps,
06:39and Cooley slots it in, sending Mitov the wrong way.
06:44Sending Mitov the wrong way.
06:48And Dundee are right back in it, seven goals for the season since joining Dundee.
06:57Mitov guessing wrong.
07:02And the deficit is halved.
07:07Bodies hitting the deck at the near post, but all the way through to McCracken,
07:12who immediately fires at long, he's looking for Tiffany,
07:15McKenzie's back there with him, Schinney looking to cover as well,
07:18Tiffany skips past, McKenzie just wides!
07:25Credit McCracken with the pass effectively for Tiffany.
07:32Oh, the keeper does really well, he gets a touch to it,
07:36otherwise it might just have crept in at the far post.
07:39It's given away by Cameron, helped out by Cameteo, though.
07:45Slides it forward, that's a good ball for Adewumi, behind Mane,
07:50onto it comes Cameron, and Rubasic in the way.
07:55It's a lovely ball from Cameteo, for Adewumi, slightly behind Mane,
07:59but Cameron got it on target.
08:03Here's Fraser, into Cameron.
08:09Tiffany.
08:11Oh, that's a really good effort from Curtis Mane against his former side.
08:16Right on the stroke of the 90 minutes.
08:19Curtis Mane, with a really clever effort,
08:23but he could not get the better of the Aberdeen keeper.
08:31Ambrose has done well, he's won it from Robertson.
08:34And now Morris, Bezoua.
08:39Behind for a corner, for Aberdeen, and they've got Dundee where they want them.
08:47And they don't have time to take the corner, but they won't care a jot
08:51as they emerge once again with maximum points.
08:56Dundee try as they might, couldn't find a second goal,
08:59despite all their pressure in the second half.
09:04And so, Aberdeen, 18 points from 18.
09:09Not very often after a game you come out and say the better team lost,
09:12and both managers say that, you know, fair play to Billy.
09:16Sorry, Jimmy, he said to me after the game when we shook hands,
09:18you know, you were better than us and you deserve more,
09:20which I think is quite a good summation of the game.
09:23I feel as if, you know, I'm disappointed that it's an unbeaten run done,
09:26but if I get that consistent level of performance from our players,
09:29then by the lot averages we'll win more games than we lose.
09:31I thought our level of performance was excellent today,
09:34particularly in that second half.
09:36Dundee were really strong in the last part of the game.
09:37They come again and again and again,
09:39but we succeeded and take the three points.
09:41And I want to share it with all the supporters we have today,
09:44because sometimes when you get so pinned down,
09:46you need a team spirit, but also the spirit of the Aberdeen Football Club,
09:50how we fight together outside, out on the pitch today together.
09:53Have you ever had as good a start as a manager?
09:55Is this 12 games and 12 wins?
09:58Oh, I don't think so.
09:59But I'm a really bad memory, but I don't think so.
10:02Good stuff there from Jimmy DeLayne.
10:05Aberdeen win a 12th consecutive game.
10:08A phenomenal achievement, Neil,
10:09but Dundee will feel as though they should have got something out of the game.
10:12Aberdeen had a good first half, got the goals.
10:15Second half, Dundee were the better side,
10:16but they just couldn't quite get over the line.
10:19But Aberdeen obviously supporting in front of a huge travelling support,
10:22and Aberdeen fans are loving life just now.
10:24I no wonder, and they deserve to be the great travelling support.
10:28I mean, it's a really powerful club.
10:30You can see the wealth of support that they've got there.
10:34That's quite a sensational start, isn't it?
10:35Let's be honest, and Tony's right after the game
10:38that they probably deserve something from the game.
10:40But when there's that resolve and that good feeling and momentum
10:44about a group of players that Aberdeen have at them,
10:46and it's really difficult to turn it over.
10:49There seems to be a shinny coming back into the side today,
10:51I think was really important as well.
10:52Brings the captain back in that strength.
10:54They've lost Papa Gay out of the side, which could have been a knock,
10:57but Nisbet then comes up and steps up.
10:59So everything that seems to be wanting to be done at Potaudri
11:03seems to be happening, and it's fantastic for the league.
11:06It is. Kevin Nisbet and Tope Keskinen getting the goals too.
11:09Good finishes, although Dundee, when they look back at this,
11:12will think, well no, they should have defended the situation better.
11:15Yeah, I think so.
11:16And I think, as you say, Aberdeen having a terrific start.
11:20And you can see here, it's just a hopeful ball up for Nicky Devlin there.
11:26And he's just got to put the ball out of the pitch.
11:29I mean, he's trying to be a bit too clever there.
11:32Obviously, a great finish for Nisbet, falls right in his path.
11:34Very composed, yeah.
11:35If you watch him here, he's trying to be too clever.
11:38You've just got to put that out of the pitch.
11:39And then Keskinen takes a great touch.
11:42Good movement for Nisbet, and a great finish into the corner there again.
11:45And the thing is, and that's Aberdeen, they're up and running in the game,
11:48and it doesn't matter how Dundee have started.
11:51Now, this is the biggest one here.
11:53I think Aberdeen do all right as well.
11:55But Mancilla's got the ball.
11:57He's now in control of it.
11:59And the centre-back, Kenty, steps out again, leaves that huge gap once again.
12:05And then, obviously, McCracken, the goalkeeper, has got to do a bit better.
12:08But credit to, if you watch him here, sprinting forward,
12:11not under any control of the ball.
12:13And he leaves a huge gap.
12:14Where's he going is the question.
12:15Yeah, he's going to get punished.
12:17And then, as I say, then there's another mistake, probably, for the goalkeeper.
12:20Credit to Aberdeen.
12:21I think they've done well in the game.
12:24But I watched the game.
12:26And as I said, Tony Docherty's right.
12:28I thought Dundee were excellent.
12:29They put Aberdeen under all sorts of pressure in the second half.
12:32Yeah, I mean, Jimmy Tallinn, it has been an incredible start from the team.
12:38What is it, do you think, that's bringing them this success?
12:41Belief, momentum, quality?
12:44Confidence, belief.
12:45I think results just breed a real confidence within a group
12:51that there's a strength in what you're doing on the pitch.
12:56You look at the Hearts team now, just absolutely flat, devoid of any confidence,
13:01playing well at times in games, getting nothing from them.
13:04Whereas the flip side of Aberdeen is that when you build up that momentum,
13:08it's a really easy dressing room to manage for Jimmy just now.
13:12Listen, he's done a remarkable job.
13:13But when things are going well, we almost don't even need to step in
13:16because everything's just bubbling away.
13:19It's been a quite wonderful start by him.
13:21He's got an air of confidence and he's got an authority about him
13:23without being aggressive about it or over-passionate.
13:27You know, he's just calm.
13:28I think the real thing is there's a good squad there.
13:32When we were there last year, there is a good squad.
13:35And I think brilliant for Jimmy is he's came in,
13:37he's had a whole pre-season to work with them.
13:40He's not had to really add much.
13:41The ones he has added, he's done well.
13:43And the League Cup games have really helped him to build up momentum.
13:46He's on a training pitch with them every day.
13:48And he's done a terrific job.
13:49He's done really well.
13:51And it just shows you when you're in a training pitch
13:53and you can work with these players every day
13:54and you start breeding confidence.
13:56And there's been no distraction of Europe, which has really helped him.
14:00And it's been the perfect start for him and long may it continue for him.
14:04And as I said, the European thing is not going to be there,
14:06so he can totally concentrate on it.
14:08OK, some news to bring you from Denz Park this afternoon.
14:11Mo Salah collapsed at half time.
14:13He is in hospital.
14:14He is responsive.
14:15And of course, everyone wishes him all the best from the sport scene team.
14:20Now Comarnach have had a slow start to the season
14:22as they search for a first league win.
14:24Their opponents this afternoon were fourth place Dundee United.
14:27Commentary comes from Andrew Petrie.
14:31One team with no wins, one team in fourth.
14:34Not many would have predicted who was who at the start of the season.
14:39Comarnach are still looking for their maiden victory.
14:41United are looking to maintain their strong start.
14:45Kelly have to deal with suspension yet again.
14:47Joe Wright misses out.
14:48Louis Mayo is back in, as is Brad Lyons.
14:51He replaces David Watson.
14:54United also change to Sam Dalby makes his first start up top alongside Louis Malt.
14:59Jörg van der Sande is on the bench.
15:01And Kristian Trapanowski misses out through injury.
15:04That's brilliant.
15:13Kyle Vassell for company.
15:15Vassell on the right.
15:17Cuts back onto his left.
15:18Tries to curl.
15:21Just a few inches wide from the Kelly captain.
15:26Strong start from both sides.
15:28But Comarnach coming closest.
15:31Wasn't far away at all for Kyle Vassell.
15:34And it will come through to Stevenson.
15:43Almost one-on-one.
15:45Brilliant save here in O'Hara.
15:48Lucas Stevenson really should have done better.
15:52But it's a brilliant save from the Comarnach keeper.
15:56Denying the Liverpool loanee.
16:05Graham pulls it forward.
16:07Just drops to Ferry.
16:09Pass that is to Lucas Stevenson.
16:12He cuts back and he finds Louis Malt.
16:16United go in front.
16:19And it's a terrific team goal.
16:24A brilliant ball over from Will Ferry.
16:28A cracking cut back from Lucas Stevenson.
16:32And the easiest of finishes in the end for Louis Malt.
16:36Look at that ball from Will Ferry from the outside of the foot.
16:39And Stevenson has such a narrow angle.
16:43It looks like this touch might have just taken the ball out of play.
16:46But he has the taste to get there.
16:48And it's on a silver platter for Louis Malt.
16:52And he just gobbles up that chance to put United ahead.
17:01Comarnach looking to hit back quickly.
17:07Tucked in.
17:07Oh, Danny Armstrong's there!
17:10And powers his header just over the bar.
17:13He's the smallest man on the pitch.
17:16Almost equalising for Comarnach.
17:20And they've not had a bad 45 minutes but they find themselves behind.
17:27Armstrong with the long throw.
17:29Right up with Donald Osgren, which is back to Armstrong.
17:33And he's towards the back, towards Watson's there!
17:38A wonder goal from David Watson!
17:44This boy is special, alright.
17:47Another goal to add to his catalogue of unbelievable strikes.
17:54And this one brings Comarnach level.
17:59A scintillating scissor kick.
18:06Well, it looked like the ball was flying over his head.
18:09But he's just manoeuvred his body so brilliantly
18:13to get that strike back across the goalkeeper.
18:17And it gets better every time you watch it.
18:19OBD's striding out of defence.
18:23It's been a fantastic start to the second half from Comarnach.
18:27Matty Kennedy away from Stevenson.
18:29Tries to curl from the bottom corner and it's flicked on!
18:33And David Watson has another!
18:37Comarnach have flipped this game on its head!
18:41And it's all been done by the half-time winner, David Watson.
18:45Well, he's only been on the pitch a couple of minutes.
18:48And he's got two goals to his name already.
18:51And he's put Comarnach in the driving seat.
18:54I think that was a shot from Matty Kennedy.
18:56He'll be happy to pick up the assist instead.
18:59A brilliant little toe poke from David Watson.
19:04Puts Comarnach in front for the first time this afternoon.
19:07And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:09And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:11And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:13And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:15And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:17And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:19And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:21And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:23And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:25And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:27And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:29And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:31And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:33And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:35And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:37And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:39And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:41And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:43And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:45And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:47And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:49And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:51And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:53And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:55And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:57And he's got a great start to the second half.
19:59And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:01And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:03And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:05And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:07And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:09And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:11And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:13And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:15And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:17And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:19And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:21And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:23And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:25And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:27And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:29And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:31And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:33And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:35And he's got a great start to the second half.
20:37And the whistle goes.
20:39Craig Napier points for the free kick.
20:41And the whistle goes.
20:43And the whistle goes.
20:45And the whistle goes.
20:47And the whistle goes.
20:49And the whistle goes.
20:51And the whistle goes.
20:53And the whistle goes.
20:55And the whistle goes.
20:57And the whistle goes.
20:59And the whistle goes.
21:01And the whistle goes.
21:03And the whistle goes.
21:05And the whistle goes.
21:07And the whistle goes.
21:09And the whistle goes.
21:11And the whistle goes.
21:13And the whistle goes.
21:15And the whistle goes.
21:17And the whistle goes.
21:19And the whistle goes.
21:21And the whistle goes.
21:23And the whistle goes.
21:25And the whistle goes.
21:27And the whistle goes.
21:29And the whistle goes.
21:31And the whistle goes.
21:33And it's game back on at Rugby Park.
21:39Launched forward. Graham tries to pull it down.
21:41Stephenson's there.
21:43And it's a penalty!
21:47Well, Craig Napier thought about it.
21:51It almost looked like he was running away.
21:55It was flipped on by Thompson.
21:57Stephenson got a foot to it.
21:59And Fraser Murray, who's only just on as a sub,
22:01looks to have conceded a last gasp penalty
22:05for Kilmarnock.
22:09Ross Graham is the taker.
22:13And he sends the keeper the wrong way!
22:17United euphoria!
22:21They've come back from two goals down
22:23to rescue a point in Kilmarnock.
22:27And it's a catastrophe
22:29for the hosts.
22:31Another self-inflicted wound
22:33as Ross Graham
22:35buries the penalty
22:39and saves a point for United.
22:41It will surely finish 3-3.
22:45It's very difficult for full-backs or wing-backs
22:47to prevent every single cross coming in the box.
22:49And when it does come in,
22:51then we have to deal with it better.
22:53And I think that's the major frustration
22:55from our perspective,
22:57when the top cross is coming in,
22:59and then in the second half, when the balls did come in,
23:01we looked really vulnerable.
23:03Take nothing away from the good quality goals
23:05that Kilmarnock have scored.
23:07The boy Watson's first goal is a moment of
23:09real individual brilliance.
23:11But the other two,
23:13I think we can do a lot better in those situations.
23:15I thought we looked really on it today,
23:17that second half,
23:19and it was very much us and the Kilmarnock team I expect.
23:21But it should have been a winning performance
23:23and unfortunately it wasn't
23:25to see how the last down end was of the game.
23:29What a game that was!
23:31So much to discuss, so we may as well just get fired right in.
23:33David Watson brought on at half time.
23:35What an impact he made
23:37and what a first goal.
23:39Brilliant.
23:41Derek obviously had to make changes to the shape.
23:43I thought Dundee United were good in the first half.
23:45But when Watson comes on to the pitch,
23:47I think
23:49his dynamism
23:51and his power,
23:53his top movement is so important to Kilmarnock.
23:55And I know that Derek has chosen
23:57to leave him on the bench today,
23:59but he certainly required it when he comes on.
24:01The impact he makes immediately,
24:03that is a quite sensational goal.
24:05Sibyl's picking him up
24:07and he does great, Sibyl.
24:09He contacts him all the way.
24:11Then he feels like maybe Lucas Stevenson has him.
24:13But he's still under an enormous amount of pressure
24:15to get that on target
24:17is one thing.
24:19To put it into the top corner is another.
24:21We've got him signalled out
24:23in the far right.
24:25But he's intent to come in late.
24:27We saw it last season.
24:29He scores goals from midfield.
24:31He's all about movement.
24:33He's all about that perpetual motion.
24:35He's timing into the box as well.
24:37He takes the gamble and gets across to the defenders.
24:39It's a really deft little finish as well
24:41because he knows he can't slash at it.
24:43It's just a soft little touch into the goal.
24:45He did have an enormous impact on the game.
24:47Barry Marley-Watkins
24:49bundled in the third goal.
24:51Hint of offside, but obviously
24:53the old Hawkeye lines come in.
24:55At this point in time you're thinking
24:57there's only going to be one winner in the match.
24:59We were sitting discussing that
25:01and they did look offside,
25:03but good header.
25:05Marley's in there.
25:07He's done a terrific job for Cormarek.
25:09I think the biggest thing for Derek
25:11is they were so comfortable in the game.
25:133-1 and they've ended up drawing the game.
25:15That's where he'll be kicking himself tonight.
25:17We saw that with Kiyoko as well.
25:19The Celtic game.
25:21We cannot argue with the Lions, can we?
25:23We're arguing with artificial intelligence here,
25:25but I think
25:27looking at that with the naked eye,
25:29Robbie Dee's left knee looks ahead.
25:31I can't see anything in Tangerine
25:33that would suggest that he's onside.
25:35It's a great delivery though.
25:37The most important part of that is a great delivery.
25:39The delivery is very, very good.
25:41The initial header is good
25:43and actually the follow-up as well.
25:45That's the job of a striker.
25:47Marley's done that well.
25:49It's a good header as well,
25:51but when the delivery is right,
25:53everybody's got a chance to score a goal.
25:55Craig Napier chopped off
25:57a simple goal for this tackle.
25:59I can't work it out.
26:01See if you can.
26:03I think Craig Napier
26:05will be looking back at this game
26:07and think that he's made
26:09at least a couple of errors.
26:11This is the wrong decision immediately
26:13for me because I think it's a really clean challenge.
26:15I think he's in the way there for a start.
26:17His position's poor.
26:19I'm not escaping O'Hara.
26:21He should save that for me.
26:23Craig Sibbles had a decent shot and it's coming through
26:25bodies, but that's a really clean tackle.
26:27I don't see what he sees here anyway.
26:29Thankfully, VAR
26:31do step in.
26:33This is when VAR works
26:35because without it, that doesn't stand them.
26:37It's the wrong decision.
26:39They were right to intervene.
26:41Why did you not blow the whistle now?
26:43Because I think nowadays they wait
26:45until everything's happened.
26:47If you're in the game, blow the whistle if you think it's a free kick.
26:49The good thing is
26:51Miller-Thompson's tenacious there. He wins the tackle
26:53and justice is done because the goal
26:55should stand. United started
26:57to believe then when they got that second
26:59goal back. Jimmy, some good substitutions.
27:01It took them until the 99th
27:03minute to
27:05get this penalty. Now, this
27:07falls into what you would call a soft
27:09degree. First of all, Camarnac need
27:11to deal with that better. There's 3v1.
27:13They lose out to Graham. When it's
27:15knocked down and it finds its way
27:17into the box, again, speaking
27:19about Craig Napier today,
27:21he hesitates. He doesn't
27:23give the decision immediately. Look at this angle.
27:25Watch his position. There's
27:27the first mistake. They don't win the header.
27:29Don't deal with it. But there,
27:31I can't make up my mind whether there's contact
27:33for Fraser Miller or not on Stevenson.
27:35There's no way the referee can see that
27:37and he needs to be sure to call
27:39that, I think. And he does call it
27:41and then when it goes to VR,
27:43I still think it's inconclusive, but
27:45the point is, Steven, once he
27:47gives that decision, I don't think there's enough
27:49of an error in there for VR then to
27:51overturn it, which means it will stand
27:53and Ross Graham gets the opportunity to
27:55stick it away. For Kelly, it's obviously not been
27:57the start to the season that Kelly have
27:59been hoping for.
28:0110, 20 minutes away from their first
28:03win today. Should have probably seen
28:05the game out, but it's their defending this season
28:07that's costing them. They've now
28:09conceded 15 goals.
28:11Last season, they weren't doing that kind of thing.
28:13What's happened with Kilmarnock
28:15is the European thing has caught up with them a wee bit.
28:17Now, I know we're moving on a bit from that now,
28:19but it still has its effects. They've picked up
28:21some injuries, unluckily as well.
28:23And that's
28:25been happening to them. And it's amazing how much that can
28:27have a wee knock-on effect. But when you see them
28:29at it, they're a good side.
28:31Derek McKay's got a good side. When we were 3-1 up
28:33at the end of the day, they were cruising in the game, I thought.
28:35And they were out on to win it comfortably.
28:37There's been well enough in there
28:39for me and Kilmarnock to start moving
28:41up the table.
