00:30Good evening, last weekend finally got going with goals and drama and we're hoping for more of the same tonight. Three games to bring you in the company of Christoph Berra and Neil McCann.
00:53We begin with Rangers' first home game of the season, which is of course at Hampden Park, as Philippe Clement's side welcomed Motherwell to the National Stadium. Commentary comes from Stuart Mitchell.
01:23We'll have Cerny coming in, that's the two changes as they replace Balligan and McCausland from that 1-1 draw against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday night.
01:31It's an injury-hit Motherwell with Shane Blaney, the recent addition to a long list of absentees. The good news for the Steelmen is Lennon Miller is fit.
01:40Three changes with McGinn, Seddon and Stamathilopoulos coming in, Blaney, Beye and Robinson are the players dropping out.
01:54Vanioma swings it in early, Dessers, the aim!
01:58And it bounces wide.
02:01It looked a bit awkward in the end for Cyril Dessers, he'll be full of confidence after that late equaliser in the Champions League qualifier.
02:09Stuart Kettlewell has had to assure media and fans this week that Motherwell are meticulous when it comes to injury prevention.
02:15A long list of absentees.
02:17Lennon Miller chasing, has he beaten the offside trap?
02:20He strikes into the side netting!
02:23Jack Butlan in the Rangers' defence stare at the assistant referee.
02:28While Lennon Miller can just look up to the clouds.
02:32He hesitated.
02:36Plenty of space on that left side for Yilmaz.
02:40He has a look up, drilled into right.
02:43Strikes!
02:45Comfortable for Oxburgh.
02:48The Rangers are looking so comfortable in these opening stages.
02:56John Suter.
02:59Cherney's seen a lot of the ball in these opening stages and cuts it through wonderfully!
03:03And Scott Wright, oh, it's off the line!
03:07And a superb save by Oxburgh.
03:09Dessers denied.
03:11Incredible phase of play there.
03:13Rangers so close to taking the lead.
03:16But incredible!
03:17Last-ditch defending on the line by Motherwell.
03:22Cherney instrumental again.
03:24And that pass through, Wright just trying to keep his balance.
03:28He thought he scored.
03:29Dessers denied by Oxburgh.
03:32Reflex save.
03:36Suter.
03:38There's Cherney.
03:40Tavernier inside.
03:44Lawrence.
03:48Thinks about the shot.
03:50Won't open up though.
03:51Barron.
03:52Moves it back for Rydfan.
03:54Clips it over towards Diamondi.
03:56And Dessers is there!
03:59Motherwell look for a flag!
04:02It isn't raised!
04:03And Cyril Dessers continues from where he left off on Tuesday night against Dynamo Kiev.
04:10And he opens the scoring for Philippe de Mozide.
04:13It's Rangers 1-0 Motherwell.
04:17It's been so slick from Rangers.
04:19And difficult for Motherwell to contend with in this first quarter of the match.
04:25Barron moved it for Rydfan.
04:28He clipped up.
04:29Diamondi headed down.
04:31Dessers flicks.
04:33Someone in Motherwell colours did get a touch.
04:36But they couldn't prevent it from crossing the line that time.
04:41To the goalkeeper, Oxburgh.
04:46Does well to start the move forward.
04:49Steve Seddon.
04:51Played over early.
04:52And the flick will go in the back of the Rangers net!
04:59It's a disastrous debut for Robin Kruper.
05:03Butlin was scrambling.
05:05And Motherwell are level at Hamden.
05:08The early cross from Seddon.
05:10Asked the question of the Rangers defence.
05:19And Suter with the header at the front.
05:23Changed the direction of the ball.
05:26And Kruper.
05:28Potentially in two minds on whether to take it down or leave it.
05:32And Kruper.
05:34Potentially in two minds on whether to take it down or leave it.
05:38Makes contact.
05:40And Butlin is helpless.
05:41It's Rangers 1-1 Motherwell.
05:46Scott Wright.
05:51Lawrence.
05:52Tight space.
05:53He's challenged.
05:56They thought he won the ball.
05:58The referee, Kevin Clancy, disagrees.
06:00Rangers have a free kick.
06:03Tavernier ready to take.
06:06Pushed away by Oxbrough.
06:10Rangers have the corner.
06:12Tavernier can hit them with quality from that distance.
06:16The tall frame of Aston Oxbrough.
06:18Stretches to push that one away.
06:21Corner taken by Tavernier.
06:24Gessers looks to help it on.
06:25Kruper back and Wright puts it in!
06:30But the flag is raised by the assistant.
06:34Rangers will not retake the lead.
06:37Not the judge to have crossed the byline.
06:45Tavernier.
06:49Carries.
06:50Towards Cherney, who whips towards goal!
06:56And it's a dream first Rangers start for Václav Cherney.
07:01His first Rangers goal.
07:04Restores the lead.
07:09Stepped up with the assist on Tuesday night against Dino O'Keefe.
07:14And today, steps up with Rangers second.
07:18And his first in blue.
07:20It's Rangers two, Motherwell one.
07:24Motherwell stood off.
07:26And we're still in the game.
07:27Motherwell stood off.
07:29And we're seeing early.
07:31You can't give Václav Cherney that kind of space.
07:36A quality strike.
07:38And a glimpse of what Rangers supporters want to see more of in this coming season.
07:47Wright.
07:49Lawrence leaves.
07:50Gessers in a tangle.
07:52Referee spots the pull on the jersey.
07:54Rangers have another dangerous free kick just outside the Motherwell penalty area.
08:00Tavernier hits!
08:06Oxbrook.
08:07That full stretch again.
08:10Strong hands to it once more.
08:17Barrett.
08:18Does well to think quickly.
08:19Diamondi.
08:20Through for Cherney.
08:21His touch was heavy.
08:22It offered Dan Casey the opportunity to snap the ball away.
08:27Again, that quick passing.
08:28That quick movement from Philippe Clement's side.
08:32At that time, Dan Casey and the Motherwell defence fully alert.
08:37Ritvan Yilmaz with the Rangers corner.
08:41Suter.
08:43Deflected wide.
08:48It was a bit surprising.
08:50I was a bit surprised it arrived at the right foot of John Suter.
08:58Cherney.
08:59Diamondi.
09:00Big parts.
09:01Some slick attacking play.
09:03Tavernier lays off to Cherney.
09:05He looks to pick the cross.
09:06Gessers is there.
09:07And now it's Lawrence.
09:08Looks for the space.
09:10Now Cherney...
09:12Gets it all wrong.
09:16Philippe Clement will be happy.
09:20That space opening again.
09:23Vaclav Cherney at the centre of creating it all.
09:32Steven O'Donoghue.
09:34Ready with the run-up.
09:35To launch the throw into the penalty area.
09:38The Steelmen searching for an equaliser.
09:42Lennon-Miller.
09:43Sterling was around to block.
09:49McGinn.
09:51Helps it back up towards the penalty area.
09:53Struck by Gordon.
09:56Drills it wide.
09:58Lillowell starting to get the ball first around the Rangers' defensive penalty box.
10:05Conor Barry.
10:07Tavernier screams on the right side.
10:08Sterling pierces through for Gessers.
10:10McCausland to his right.
10:13He scoops it over the crossbar.
10:16There's not a better option available for Cyril Gessers.
10:20The run was matched by Gordon.
10:25Tavernier with the signal.
10:28The header!
10:29Goes over the crossbar.
10:32Dujan Sterling.
10:34It looked a very good opportunity.
10:38For a third Rangers goal.
10:42O'Donoghue.
10:46Looks deep towards the back.
10:48Rangers let it run.
10:50Clipped up towards Robinson.
10:52Barron.
10:53A small figure heading away.
10:55Lennon-Miller for Robinson!
10:58Strong fingertips from Jack Butland.
11:01Rangers haven't taken the warning sign so far.
11:04But that may just wake them up.
11:07Zach Robinson has found scraps at times around the penalty area.
11:13But at that point...
11:17The ball found its way back in.
11:18The lovely flick from Lennon-Miller.
11:20It sat up nicely.
11:23Butland on hand to rescue Rangers.
11:34Tavernier.
11:37Will McCausland get there?
11:39As he doesn't allow it.
11:42Rangers throat.
11:52McCausland on the left foot.
11:57Easy save for Oxburgh.
11:59And he'll push his side further forward.
12:04Balligan heads it out.
12:10We know it's coming.
12:12Steven O'Donoghue again.
12:18Sits around the penalty area.
12:22Balligan wins it.
12:25Bloody angles it.
12:28O'Donoghue fighting.
12:29Was he brought down by Ridvan Yilmaz?
12:32The referee says he was.
12:35And it will be a yellow card for the Rangers left back.
12:38And it will be a free kick.
12:40And a very promising position for Mullerwell.
12:48Will we have late drama at Hampden Park?
12:53Halliday goes for goal.
12:55And Dowles' touch takes it over the goal.
13:01It's a strong foot to that.
13:05Full-time inside Hampden Park.
13:08Rangers pick up their first win of the season.
13:12Philippe Clement may have wanted more goals.
13:15But it's the first three points in the Scottish Premiership.
13:18It was an impressive first half showing from Rangers.
13:22Václav Czerny heavily involved.
13:25And his goal turns out to be the winning one.
13:28And it's a winning start to life inside the National Stadium.
13:32It finishes at Hampden.
13:34Rangers 2, Mullerwell 1.
13:38We scored the first goal.
13:40Then you get out of nothing a goal against.
13:43That is really unlucky.
13:45Because John just touching the ball.
13:47Robin just touching the ball in reflex.
13:49And the ball goes in the corner of the goal.
13:51Otherwise Jack always saves this ball.
13:53So that's the worst scenario you can have.
13:56But it's important now that the team continues in that way.
14:01And doesn't start to doubt.
14:03So that's important also for the new guys coming in.
14:05To show that they have the right mentality in that way.
14:08And the team did.
14:10So there was no doubt at that moment.
14:13And we continued what we've been doing.
14:15And we scored a very good second goal also.
14:17Rangers were, I thought they were excellent in the first half.
14:20I thought they created opportunities.
14:22I thought they were slick in their general play.
14:24I thought they played very tempo.
14:26But I felt, Martin, that we were a little bit in the back foot.
14:29And we were a little bit timid in the first half.
14:31And I didn't feel that we went engaged with them high enough up the pitch.
14:33We rectified that in the second half.
14:35Very simply.
14:37Whether you want to say that Rangers were poorer in the second half.
14:39Or we were better.
14:41I think there's a combination of both.
14:43But I concentrate on my own team.
14:45And I thought we were miles better.
14:47Not by changing anything tactically.
14:49But just trying to show that resilience that you reference.
14:51Again, we'll probably speak about it in a minute or so.
14:53But there's not your challenges to seek yet again within the game.
14:57Having to be forced into changes through injury.
15:00But when you get into that last 20, 15, counting down to 10 minutes.
15:04It was ourselves that were on the front foot.
15:06It was ourselves that were carving out opportunities.
15:08And it's Jack Butland that's pulling off an absolute wondersave.
15:11Fizak Robinson low down to his left.
15:14Rangers get the three points.
15:16But the second half far from comfortable.
15:18The first half was, however, very impressive.
15:20Guys.
15:22Dessler's getting on the score sheet again.
15:24After scoring, obviously, in midweek against Keefe.
15:26Yeah.
15:27Good week for Rangers.
15:29And a particularly good one for Dessler's.
15:31It's worked.
15:33And when it's put into the back post.
15:35I think muddle work all over the place.
15:37There's boys trying to hold lines.
15:39There's boys dropping off.
15:41In particular, Dan Casey.
15:43When Dan Casey drops off, he does nothing.
15:45But a huge slice of lip there.
15:47Because Diamandy, without question, he's trying to header this on.
15:49It comes off his shoulder.
15:51He'll be claiming the assist.
15:53I mean, there's one thing about this boy.
15:55He doesn't stop.
15:57He shows a lot of character.
15:59He takes a lot of stick.
16:01He does miss chances.
16:03But as a striker, you're under fire all the time.
16:05And he always shows up.
16:07And it was a cute wee finish.
16:09Same as it was during the week against Keefe.
16:11I think when Stuart's looking at how poor Muddlewell were.
16:13That was indicative there.
16:15Right there in that cut.
16:17But how they were all over the place.
16:19Christophe, you're a centre half.
16:21Have you ever had a debut OG like this one from Robin Proper?
16:23No, I haven't.
16:25I've scored a few in my career.
16:27The build-up to start, they'll have to look at that.
16:29How it's too easy for him to bring the ball down.
16:31But early cross into the box causes problems.
16:35John obviously doesn't get a clean header on it.
16:37And to be honest, he sticks a foot out.
16:39If he doesn't touch it, it's maybe a tapping at the back stick.
16:42I think he's got to try and get contact on it.
16:44It's just natural instinct.
16:46He sticks a foot out and another day that might go past the post.
16:48But unfortunately, it's an own goal.
16:50The worrying thing there is,
16:52John Suter's caught between a rock and a hard place.
16:54He doesn't know what to step in with Ewan Wilson.
16:56That ball can't travel that amount of distance
16:58and somebody brings it down and attacks your back four.
17:00And then he's not sure about whether covering proper.
17:03When it goes out wide,
17:05I think what does the whole back line there
17:07is how early the cross comes in.
17:09Because there's no waiting on it,
17:11he can see his strikers getting into the box.
17:13He's asking questions.
17:15But really unfortunate.
17:17Those types of balls for a defender are difficult to defend
17:19because you're running back, facing your own goal.
17:21They put it in a good area
17:22and they reap the rewards.
17:24Incredibly, that's not the best OG
17:26that we're going to see tonight.
17:28There's a better one to come.
17:30Chernie, he scored a brilliant goal.
17:32His all-round performance was impressive
17:34for the time he was on the pitch.
17:36I like him.
17:38He's shown today that he's going to be a real handful
17:40for defences across the country.
17:42Really sharp.
17:44He's got good feet.
17:46When he comes inside,
17:48look how well Mother were set up here.
17:50There's not a lot of space.
17:52Full marks to Paul McGinn
17:54because back in the line
17:56and in Oxburgh with a terrific save.
17:58But the execution of that pass
18:00is quite simply brilliant.
18:02He's a player who's all left-footed.
18:04Very direct.
18:06He's not an out-and-out winger
18:08where he wants to go on the outside.
18:10He's going to be deployed from this right side.
18:12And he's got an eye for a pass.
18:14He's helped a lot here for his goal, I have to say.
18:16Dan Casey, where are you going?
18:18Speaking about Motherwell being all over the place defensively.
18:20But take nothing away from the first touch.
18:22That's covered in the channel.
18:24Dan Casey must protect his wing-back.
18:26And then, really,
18:28Chirmley's the biggest threat there.
18:30Not Diamandy, but when it opens up
18:32he's still got so much to do.
18:34And not only is he finding the side netting,
18:36that is absolutely whipped.
18:38It's a great finish.
18:40He's got a lot of things going for him.
18:42A great finish, but defensively,
18:44as you said Neil,
18:46I think Dan Casey,
18:48the angle the ball's coming in,
18:50that's not a danger.
18:52He's opened that space
18:54to allow Tavernier to make an easy pass into there.
18:56And as you said, Chirmley's got great feet,
18:58good agility,
19:00dribbles inside and what a finish.
19:02Motherwell are having a really bad time of it
19:04with injuries just now.
19:06Stamatolopoulos had to come off today as well.
19:08But they did improve in the second half,
19:10as Stuart Kettlewell says.
19:12They can take positives from that second half performance
19:14moving forward.
19:16For sure. I think first half, Rangers were comfortable.
19:18Maybe could have scored another goal or two.
19:20But the second half,
19:22that's credit to Motherwell.
19:24Only a goal in it.
19:26They were more on the front foot.
19:28They were more composed.
19:30On the flip side, Rangers weren't as composed on the ball
19:32and didn't control the game as much.
19:34It went down to the last minute.
19:36Another day, a great save by Butland.
19:38It was an unbelievable save.
19:40There were other flashes around the box.
19:42It was very nervous for Rangers.
19:44Neil, Rangers' next game,
19:46second leg against Keeve at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.
19:48How do you see it going?
19:50It's very finely poised.
19:52I thought it was a very good
19:54Saturday morning result.
19:56Performance.
19:58They weren't great against Hearts.
20:00But I thought they worked ever so hard
20:02against Keeve, who are free-scoring.
20:04Absolutely.
20:06I thought they would have come away with a narrow defeat.
20:08But to come away with a draw and bring it back to Hampden.
20:10They looked as if they enjoyed that pitch today.
20:12But what they really need to be careful of
20:14is that this team really break
20:16quickly in the counter-attack.
20:18It's a bit of a sticker twist here,
20:20but they've put themselves in a very good position.
20:22Who, their opening fixture,
20:24could either get their first win of the season this afternoon
20:26in Dingwall?
20:28Your commentator is Andrew Petrie.
20:30Welcome to Dingwall,
20:32where both sides are still looking
20:34for their first wins of the new league season.
20:36The last few times these teams have met,
20:38they've been high-scoring affairs.
20:40Hopefully the same this afternoon.
20:42Don Cowie makes four changes
20:44to the county side that drew 0-0
20:46with Motherwell on the opening weekend.
20:48Aidan Denham makes a first start
20:50while Michael Lefete, Scott Allardyce
20:52and Eamon O'Donoghue
20:54come straight into the United team.
20:56And Jim Goodwin's only change
20:58from the Dundee derby last week.
21:00The Irish defender joined on loan from Norwich.
21:05It was 4-0 to County
21:07the last time they played United here,
21:09but they're under the cosh already.
21:11Jörg van der Sand out behind.
21:13He rounds the keeper,
21:15looks for Miller.
21:17Thompson in the middle!
21:19And he skies it over the bar.
21:21A dreadful miss
21:23from Miller Thompson
21:25after only 10 seconds of this game.
21:30Well, that could be a miss of the season contender.
21:32Van der Sande does so well.
21:34Picks out Thompson in the middle.
21:36And he doesn't just miss the goal,
21:38he clears the stand as well.
21:40A horrendous moment for the youngster.
21:47That's one in the middle
21:48by Allardyce.
21:50Ronan Hale up against Holt,
21:52goes on the outside.
21:54It's driven across
21:56and it's well cleared by Declan Gallagher.
21:59The County have responded well
22:01after that calamitous start.
22:05Ronan Hale,
22:07lively early on,
22:09could have found Eamon Griffey,
22:11went himself.
22:13Gallagher got it away.
22:19Tratinovsky,
22:21scored in the derby
22:23last weekend.
22:25Up against Randall,
22:27goes inside and out.
22:29Cuts it back, oh and hits off Laidlaw.
22:31I don't think the County keeper
22:33knew very much about that at all.
22:37But he got his torso in the way,
22:39I think,
22:41that deflected back off Connor Randall
22:43as it came across into the middle.
22:45Laidlaw saves with his chest.
22:49We'll call that a good bit of
22:51instinctive goalkeeping.
22:59Allardyce,
23:02Eamon Denham and Ronan Hale
23:04trying to work it.
23:07Greaves,
23:09gets the shot away,
23:11just flashes
23:13past the post of Jack Walton.
23:14It's been
23:16almost all County
23:18since that Miller-Thompson miss.
23:20They're getting closer.
23:28Etta Villega
23:30moves it forward,
23:32just catches in the wind.
23:34County able to break
23:36right through the United lines
23:38as Ronan Hale goes from distance.
23:41Flashes it just over the bar
23:42from
23:4435, 40 yards out.
23:48They scored a terrific goal
23:50against Hamilton Ackies
23:52in the League Cup.
23:54This was a little different
23:56just over the bar.
23:58It looks exciting early on,
24:00Ronan Hale.
24:04Profit,
24:06wants it to Hale,
24:08tries to get it back to
24:09Lancecat
24:11Stryker.
24:13Allardyce goes down
24:15under the challenge of
24:17Etta Villega.
24:21Good opportunity for the hosts
24:23to deliver
24:25from the set piece.
24:28Straight in Emmanuel
24:30Etta Villega after signing
24:32on through the week.
24:34Back to Allardyce,
24:36team shot, oh it's spilled.
24:37Hale goes down.
24:39Craig Napier
24:41points to the spot.
24:44Well he took his time
24:46to think about that, Craig Napier.
24:48As Ronan Hale
24:50appeals to Eamonn Profit
24:52desperate to take the penalty
24:54and score his first league goal.
24:57I think Eamonn Profit
25:00supersedes him though.
25:02This is a disaster
25:04for Jack Walton, he really
25:05should have gathered that shot.
25:07It just bounces awkwardly.
25:10Hale scurrying in.
25:12It's definitely a penalty.
25:17No need for VAR to get involved.
25:21Profit wins the argument.
25:23Can he beat Walton?
25:25Saved!
25:27Jack Walton,
25:29a strong hand
25:31down to his right hand side.
25:32It's not the best penalty
25:34from Eamonn Profit.
25:36Normally clinical from the spot
25:38but it's not in the corner
25:40and it gives Walton a chance.
25:54It's a poor touch from Etta Villega
25:56and he's robbed by Ronan Hale
25:58who skips inside Declan Gallagher.
26:00Ronan Hale!
26:03Just flashes it wide.
26:07Well you can see how desperate
26:09he is to score
26:11three goals in the league cup.
26:14He wants his first
26:16in the premiership.
26:18That's not far away at all.
26:20It all comes down to his
26:22persistence as well.
26:33Not able to get that up the pitch
26:35and instead it's Afeti coming forward.
26:37Oh, Walton saves with his feet.
26:39Comes back
26:41and it's a county corner.
26:44That looked like an awkward one
26:46for Jack Walton.
26:49As Afeti drove into the box
26:51just deflects off Kevin Holt
26:53and Walton does well to stop.
26:59It's been all county
27:00in this first half.
27:03It's Greaves.
27:05Puts it back to Allardyce
27:07and looks so much more composed
27:09than they did last week at Fir Park
27:11in that goalless drop.
27:13Here's Denham to Hale.
27:15Awkward touch, good hit
27:17and Walton tips it behind.
27:20Well Ronan Hale has been
27:22a constant thorn in the side
27:24of United so far.
27:26Neyden Denham just fired
27:28this ball into him.
27:31He almost licked the volley in.
27:37Gallagher with the long throw.
27:41That's cleared by Kante
27:43but it'll come back in.
27:45Will Ferry into the box,
27:47cuts it back, Bravinsky!
27:50United go ahead!
27:52Well they were under the cosh
27:54the entire first half
27:56but they've punished Ross Kante.
28:01And with the first strike
28:03of the second 45
28:05they hit the front.
28:07It's brilliant play by Will Ferry.
28:09One summer signing to another.
28:13And Babinski
28:15the North Macedonian
28:17International
28:18just rolls that
28:20into the corner.
28:30Ferry curls in.
28:32Not dealt with initially.
28:34Kevin Holt has a bit of space.
28:36It's a good turn from Holt.
28:38Good save, Laidlaw!
28:40And it's blocked
28:42by George Harman.
28:45Khristian Trapanovsky
28:46with the rebound.
28:48Harman
28:50closed him down well.
28:52United pressing for a second though.
29:01Babinski
29:03right on top of Ross Laidlaw.
29:06Moved it back in.
29:08Best header from Jordan White.
29:10This could be a chance for United!
29:12Just over the bar
29:14from Will Ferry.
29:16Louis Malt.
29:18New York van der Sande
29:20has been preferred to Malt
29:22in these first two games
29:24of the Premiership season.
29:26But he almost got on the score sheet there.
29:29United stubborn in getting that ball
29:31back into the box.
29:33Almost sat nicely for Malt.
29:37Babinski
29:39comes off.
29:41He is replaced by
29:43Mishak
29:44Chioma
29:46making his United debut.
29:55Vujko
29:57Chavelle.
29:59Lovely spin from Ferry.
30:01He's impressed today.
30:03Just takes his time.
30:05Clips it to the back post.
30:07Knocked it back in.
30:09Craig Sybil's there!
30:11And it's brilliant defending
30:12to deny a certain opportunity
30:14for Sybil.
30:17Looked like he had all the time in the world
30:19to plant his header.
30:21But a cue right
30:23flew in
30:25and denied him.
30:27How important could that be?
30:33It's knotted on.
30:35Alex Samuel has a chance.
30:37He gets away from Holt.
30:39Samuel jumps it in!
30:40And it's Ronan Hale
30:44with the dramatic late leveller
30:46for County.
30:51And maybe after their first half performance
30:53that's what they deserve.
30:55It's certainly what Ronan Hale deserves.
30:58He is absolutely ecstatic
31:00with that.
31:02And no wonder.
31:05A constant pest
31:07for United to try and deal with.
31:10And he's in the right place
31:12at the right time
31:14to slam home the equaliser
31:16and get his first goal
31:18in the Scottish top flight.
31:20Good work from Alex Samuel as well.
31:23And County will be delighted
31:25with that.
31:32And United
31:34from the late punch
31:36to floor County.
31:38Or is it too late?
31:40He goes
31:42and brings to a close
31:44a drama-packed draw in Digwall.
31:49A golden chance
31:51spurned a missed penalty.
31:53A goal against the run of play
31:55and a comeback
31:57to cap it all off.
32:00This game of two halves
32:02finishes Ross County 1
32:04Dundee United 1.
32:06I felt we deserved the equaliser
32:08on our first half performance.
32:10Didn't manage to get the goal
32:12that the play probably merited.
32:14But we kept going
32:16right until half-time.
32:18Disappointed to lose
32:19such an early goal
32:20going into the second half.
32:22It gave Dundee United
32:23real momentum and control
32:24within the game.
32:25But we kept going
32:26and showed great character.
32:27So, delighted.
32:29You could argue
32:30did we deserve to win the game
32:31over the whole piece?
32:32Probably not
32:33given how poor we were
32:34in the first 45 minutes.
32:36But to get to that
32:37latter part of the game
32:38where you're in the fifth minute
32:39of added on time
32:41you've just got to see
32:42the game out.
32:43Had we done that
32:44it would have been a brilliant
32:45three points
32:46because we know how difficult
32:47it is up here.
32:48Prior to the game
32:49today
32:50Ross County only lost
32:51one of their last 11 games here.
32:52So we knew it was going to be
32:53a tough fixture
32:54in a difficult venue.
32:57The response
32:58I suppose
32:59and the reaction
33:00after half-time
33:01is a positive.
33:02But it's going to
33:04take a little time
33:05to get over
33:06the way the game finished.
33:07Yeah
33:08it was
33:09obviously
33:10great character
33:11from the boys
33:12to come back
33:13after going behind
33:14so early in the second half.
33:15But we dug in
33:16right to the end
33:17and I thought
33:18we could have nicked it.
33:19If it was maybe
33:20a couple of minutes more
33:21we could have nicked it.
33:22But listen
33:23it's a point at home.
33:24Obviously we wanted to be three
33:25but we'll take it
33:26and move on.
33:27Mate drama in Dingwall
33:28as County rescue
33:29a point
33:30in injury time.
33:31However
33:32United should have been
33:331-0 up
33:3410 seconds into the game.
33:35An incredible miss
33:36I have to say
33:37Jim Goodwin's
33:38assessment of the game
33:39was very honest.
33:41But this would have been
33:42a wonderful start.
33:43Young Miller-Thompson
33:44scores a tap-in
33:45against Dundee
33:46last week in the derby
33:47and this is
33:48every bit as easy.
33:49I think Wanda Sanders
33:50should probably
33:51when he goes around the goalkeeper
33:52take it on his left foot
33:53but he doesn't.
33:54And he's still got the awareness
33:55which he showed last week
33:56for Trapanowski's opener
33:57that he's got
33:58a wee bit of an eye
33:59for a pass as well.
34:00Just there
34:01had to be a left
34:02but he doesn't
34:03and then he rolls it in
34:04and the young man must think
34:05we'll give him the ball
34:06and foot it out.
34:07No we're not giving him a ball
34:08but he's just
34:09not concentrating
34:10on the contact
34:11there for me.
34:12Just probably thinks
34:13it's too easy
34:14just lift it into the net
34:15and he gets it all wrong
34:16but what a start
34:17that would have been
34:18for the game.
34:19It would have been
34:20but County went on
34:21to obviously dominate
34:22that first half
34:23they were brilliant
34:24in the first half.
34:25Yeah first half
34:26by far the better team
34:27created a few chances
34:28goalkeeper made a few saves
34:29but ultimately football's
34:30about 90 minutes
34:31in the second half
34:32could switch off
34:33and concede straight away
34:34but Dungeon Eight
34:35dominated until
34:36the dying stages
34:37of the game.
34:38Let's take a look
34:39at that goal
34:40it was Babinski
34:41the new signing
34:42that scored
34:43set up of course
34:44from another
34:45summer signing
34:46and Ferry
34:47Will Ferry
34:48really well taken goal.
34:49Yep
34:50brilliant
34:51driving forward
34:52but also picking
34:53his head up
34:54and picking a pass
34:55and just a cultured finish
34:56not trying to hit
34:57it too hard
34:58just the weights
34:59on the ball
35:00and the pass
35:01and he just guides it
35:02into that far corner.
35:03You mentioned
35:04Panofsky
35:05Babinski last week
35:06excellent
35:07but this guy here
35:08Will Ferry
35:09you've mentioned him
35:10he's actually protecting
35:11Ronan Hale at the back
35:12but watch him muscle
35:13the striker out
35:14I thought the striker
35:15was brilliant today
35:16I have to say
35:17but look
35:18he just takes responsibility
35:19there
35:20he drives
35:21that little feint
35:22takes Randall out
35:23the game
35:24but the presence of mind
35:25just to pull it back
35:26and it's a really nice finish
35:27he looks a cracker
35:28and you can see
35:29how much Jim Goodwin
35:30really likes him
35:31to bring a player
35:32but he certainly
35:33made an impact
35:34As we mentioned
35:35first half
35:36County
35:37excellent
35:38they were getting
35:39a lot of passes
35:40up to their strikers
35:41without Dundunated
35:42putting any pressure
35:43on them
35:44that changed in the
35:45second half
35:46but they got a lot
35:47of joy from it
35:48in the first half
35:49Yeah
35:50full marks again
35:51to the manager
35:52because he identified
35:53County were
35:54just
35:55look at this
35:56Scott Allardyce
35:57he loves that pass
35:58Sybil and Babinski
35:59in the middle of the
36:00park
36:01causing all sorts
36:02of problems for him
36:03again
36:04just there
36:05in between Sybil
36:06Babinski
36:07into the front man
36:08another shot
36:09on target
36:10second half
36:11what he did
36:12was he brought
36:13Chevelle in
36:14from the side
36:15placed him into
36:16a number
36:17old traditional
36:18hold and roll
36:19there's your two
36:20midfielders
36:21but there's the
36:22safety valve
36:23you're not coming
36:24through here anymore
36:25you're not getting
36:26into strikers
36:27you're going to go
36:28wide
36:29and you can see
36:30he's not going to
36:31be aware to tuck in
36:32and protect his
36:33centre backs
36:34but the change
36:35absolutely
36:36changed the whole
36:37flow of the game
36:38and gave United
36:39that control
36:40to get him back in
36:41and I know Jim's
36:42talking about the game
36:43you can see
36:44it feels like a defeat
36:45a point up at
36:46Ross County
36:47isn't a bad result
36:48when you look at it
36:49they've just come
36:50into the division
36:51under Don Cowie
36:52they finished really
36:53strongly last season
36:54as he was talking
36:55about there
36:56but that is gut wrenching
36:57because this is the
36:58big man's bread
37:00Let's take a look
37:01at the goal
37:02obviously Ronan Hale
37:03scoring five minutes
37:04into injury time
37:05a sickener
37:06but fair play to
37:07County for keeping going
37:08For all their good
37:09play in the first
37:10half for Ross County
37:11it's a goal kick
37:12in first contact
37:13you don't
37:14they win first contact
37:15but they head it
37:16back the way
37:17obviously Declan
37:18jumps out
37:19in hindsight
37:20he should stay there
37:21and whoever flicks
37:22it on
37:23he'll probably
37:24pick up that ball
37:25and really being
37:26ultra critical here
37:27as well
37:28I mean there's
37:29three of them
37:30jumping for the
37:31one ball
37:32Yeah
37:33but ultimately
37:34there's a fine detail
37:35there
37:36the young boy
37:37he's obviously
37:38new to the team
37:39he's coming through
37:40the academy
37:41Look at Hale's
37:42movement as well
37:43Odabiega's getting
37:44dragged to the ball
37:45Christoph
37:46and as a centre
37:47back
37:48surely you've
37:49got to look
37:50for the striker
37:51there
37:52I think again
37:53you protect the
37:54goal
37:55protect the middle
37:56and he gets
37:57but again
37:58it's football
37:59you know it's one
38:00goal kick
38:01one long ball
38:02that you should
38:03be dealt with
38:04and if you don't
38:05win first contact
38:06you should have
38:07your body
38:08your back foot
38:09should be nice
38:10and tight
38:11cover up
38:12but it takes
38:13one person to
38:14come out of that
38:15back line
38:16and it causes
38:17problems
38:18We spoke about
38:19who's going to
38:20replace Simon
38:21Murray's goals
38:22has Ronan Hale
38:23got that
38:24and he's scored
38:2532 goals
38:26and Scottish
38:27football does not
38:28have a wealth
38:29of budget
38:30and funds
38:31particularly for
38:32the teams outside
38:33the old firm
38:34but I think there's
38:35been a lot of
38:36shrewd business
38:37done when you
38:38look at Ronan Hale
38:39Simon Murray
38:40lives in left
38:41channels and
38:42channels
38:43he likes to run
38:44down the side
38:45of the centre
38:46backs
38:47I'm not sure
38:48this kid wants
38:49that but what
38:50he does is
38:51harry defenders
38:52and find little
38:53pockets he likes
38:54to come off
38:55and that's
38:56how he was
38:57Here's what's
38:58coming up
38:59over the next
39:00week or so
39:01for you to enjoy
39:02on BBC One
