00:00So as we head into this evening, we will be tracking another round of severe weather as we head into the overnight hours, primarily across the mid-south.
00:07And unfortunately, some of these areas were the same areas that were just battered by all that record-breaking rainfall and flooding we have seen.
00:14So we're going to see some more rainfall added to the totals here as we head into tonight.
00:17So overall, there's a broad view here of the severe weather we are tracking.
00:20And these storms are ranging from Iowa all the way down into the Carolinas.
00:25We're going to go ahead and start off with a look at these northern portions of the storms.
00:28So overall, as you look at the lightning intensity, that's normally a good indicator on just how healthy a thunderstorm is.
00:34And that one area that I was talking about there in western parts of Illinois with that hail core, that storm was allowed to go severe, you can see.
00:41But it quickly started to dissipate right after it pretty much peaked there in intensity.
00:46But that northern storm there, still watching that area in particular.
00:49I'll go ahead and circle that area.
00:51So this northern portion of that storm, watching out for that storm to possibly go severe.
00:55Also watching the southern little cell right there.
00:57That is showing some pretty good signs there of strengthening.
01:00So we will be watching out for a severe weather potential for that particular storm.
01:04And also down here by Effingham and Salem, there are these couple little clusters of thunderstorms that we'll be watching to see if their intensity can ramp up to warrant any type of severe weather that we'll be watching out for.
01:15So as we zoom out, we'll also be watching out for a risk of severe weather here across the rest of the region.
01:20That was Illinois.
01:21Now let's go to Indiana and northern parts of Kentucky.
01:24This is where we are still tracking some pretty good thunderstorms here, especially down to the south and to the southeast of Jasper.
01:30That's where we're tracking the strongest thunderstorm right there.
01:32That's primarily going to be for Perry County there in Indiana, slowly crossing the river into Kentucky.
01:38So Jeff, we're going to be watching out for multiple areas of severe weather here as we have throughout this evening and tonight.
01:43As of right now, no tornado-worn storms, but we can't run off the possibility of tornadoes developing with these storms heading forward.
01:49All right, Damien.
01:50And the rain is also moving through the northeast right now.
01:52We have rain, even some snow in the higher elevations, and we're going to see the snow expand a bit at night.
01:57Over the next two nights, we'll have rounds of accumulating snow.
02:01Areas out near Detroit had one to two inches of snow recently.
02:04And as we take a look at the overall setup here, let's look at these current temperatures across the northeast.
02:09It's chilly out there.
02:10We're only at 37 in Buffalo and Detroit.
02:12One area that stands alone, 62 in Charleston.
02:15So we're not too far from some worth snosing into the northeast, but it's not going to make it with this storm system still in the area.
02:20And this is just the first round of two episodes of rain and some snow in the mountains off to the north over the next two days.
02:28Now, the storm system that Damien's been talking about, that's going to round the bend into the Carolinas.
02:32And then as the storm system begins to creep up the coast, a coastal low-pressure system is going to crank,
02:38and that's going to crank out some heavy rain for a time near the coast.
02:42This will be bringing drought relief, but it's also going to bring some chilly air Friday and Saturday.
02:47So it's one to two inches of rain, which is meaningful and helpful, but during the day, mainly rain Friday,
02:52you can see a little snow up into the Adirondacks.
02:55We're going to see the snow expand, though, at night and into the early morning hours.
02:58So there we go through Friday.
