This Thursday could bring severe thunderstorms to a swath of the Upper Midwest near Minneapolis.
Transcript
00:00pretty much along the I-29 corridor between Grand Forks, Fargo, Watertown, down through Sioux Fall,
00:05and even Omaha. We will see some small hail possible. The main risk looks like it's going
00:09to be some heavy downpours of rainfall, so flooding will be an issue here as we head
00:13throughout this evening. And then for tomorrow, we're going to see an increased risk of showers,
00:17storms, and severe weather with our AccuWeather local storm max as far as wind gusts up to 80
00:22miles an hour. The closest area we're going to take a look at is going to be this area
00:25highlighted in orange. This is where we'll see the highest potential for severe weather as we
00:30head into Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. So with that, damaging winds will
00:36elevate that to medium. I'm also going to bump up that risk for damaging hail. That'll be at a
00:40medium as well, but in addition to that, there will also be a brief heavy downpour of flooding
00:45threat, and there's also going to be a low-end tornado threat as we head throughout Thursday
00:49into Thursday evening here out across this area. So we will be watching Thursday very carefully.
00:54FutureTrack radar is showing that as we head into Thursday afternoon, I'm stopping the clock
00:58here at 3 o'clock. This is central time. You'll see this line of thunderstorms just
01:02popping up. So 3, 4, 5, 6 o'clock, that's where we'll see the highest potential for severe weather.
01:07Definitely going to be a good time to download that AccuWeather app to stay up to date with
01:11the latest. I'm going to stay right here with AccuWeatherhead. We'll be right back.
