Transcript
00:00So here's the setup. We have this dip in the jet stream that is coupled with that moisture from Raphael and those two things are combining across the Mississippi River and bringing heavy rounds of rain, even that severe threat this afternoon across southern Louisiana, especially with multiple tornado warnings.
00:16So overall, as we head throughout the next 24 to 48 hours, we will see heavy rainfall expanding and pushing off to the east here.
00:23So overall, here's a look at that severe weather zone here for today. It is now shifting into southern parts of Mississippi, including Jackson.
00:30So switching over to radar, this is what we're seeing. We had some severe thunderstorm warnings earlier west of Jackson, but as of right now, none of these storms are severe, but there are still going to be some pockets of some severe weather possible as we head throughout this evening and tomorrow.
00:45Going back to that severe weather map, this is your updated AccuWeather Storm Zone. Any thunderstorms that form in this area will be capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and yes, there will still be a tornado threat, but as the minutes go by, the tornado threat is slowly coming down.
00:59The low-level rotation in the atmosphere is slowly subsiding, so it does primarily look like it's going to be switching over to a hail threat as we head throughout the next couple of hours.
01:08And then after that, the storm will advance here across the east coast and to the northeast. Heavy rainfall for some areas of Ohio and West Virginia, which is good news because these areas have seen a once-in-a-generation, a 20 to 25-year type of drought for some of these areas, so they will definitely take all the rainfall they can get.
01:25Just unfortunately, this will come with a flooding rainfall, flooding threat as well.
01:30So from Louisville up through Indianapolis, we'll see a heavy band of rainfall, also a heavy band of rain pushing up through parts of Jackson up through Atlanta.
