00:00Well with the clipper-like disturbance moving through today into tomorrow, it'll bring just
00:03some spotty rain showers and some snow for portions of the North Shore, but then we're
00:07on track for those warmer temperatures heading into the weekend.
00:20So already much warmer this morning, 10 to 20 degrees warmer for those morning temperatures
00:24thanks to clouds moving in overnight, but also just the departure of that chilly air
00:29mass that we had for about a 36-hour period.
00:32It's going to be warmer today, especially southwestern Minnesota, where we'll see some afternoon
00:35sunshine well into the 60s, probably on the edge of that with temperatures near 60 in
00:40the Twin Cities, I think we will see some afternoon sun, but locked in the clouds, it'll be cooler
00:44in northeastern Minnesota, and we do have kind of a broken area of scattered patches of showers.
00:50This is a clipper-like system, Pacific in origin, not a lot of moisture.
00:54Most of the showers today are going to be across northeastern Minnesota with mixing,
00:59with snow in northeastern Minnesota, along the North Shore especially.
01:02And then tonight, our chance of, better chance of maybe some showers in southern Minnesota
01:06will come with, again, just really some spotty hit-and-miss showers, though.
01:10As far as total precip through tomorrow, pretty meager.
01:14A tenth of an inch for most or less in southern Minnesota, but a little larger area of a tenth,
01:19maybe a quarter of an inch of total precip.
01:21But some of that will fall in the form of snow along the North Shore.
01:24Places like Silver Bay up to Tofty, maybe an inch or two of slush, and then kind of patchy,
01:29slushy accumulation throughout St. Louis and Lake Counties.
01:32But that'll be it.
01:33Not a big snow producer.
01:34This system overall, not a repeat of the previous systems we've seen.
01:38A little cooler, though, tomorrow.
01:39More clouds around, probably around 50 in the Twin Cities, to maybe near 60 along the Minnesota-Iowa
01:45border.
01:46And then jumping into the weekend, much warmer temperatures still on track here.
01:50Saturday, well into the 60s, 70s in western Minnesota, probably.
01:54And then Sunday, more widespread 70-degree temperatures across southern Minnesota.
01:57But that also will be the next chance of some rain here and maybe even thunder Sunday across
02:03the southern part of the state.
02:04The next system will come in out of the west.
02:06Some scattered showers, maybe early Sunday and then late in the day, too.
02:10With snow Sunday night into Monday, as colder air moves in, it'll stay liquid here in the
02:15southern part of the state.
02:15But we could see additional accumulations.
02:17Looks fairly light right now when we averaged the models together.
02:21So we'll keep our eye on that Monday potential for snowfall in northern Minnesota.
02:24But mid-April, still very possible, if not likely, to get snow in the northern part of
02:30the state.
02:30But there'll be just enough instability here, convective available potential energy, Sunday
02:35that we could see some thunder and lightning out of some of those showers, maybe.
02:39So European model hinting at that with its lightning forecast here Sunday.
02:43So don't be shocked if we have a thunderstorm or two.
02:45But in between, peaks of sun and a much warmer air mass means it will still be close to 70
02:49degrees Sunday, which in and of itself tells you it's not going to rain all day Sunday.
02:53But if you're making weekend plans and you want more guaranteed dry weather, Saturday
02:58probably for southern Minnesota is looking dry.
03:00Sunday, can't rule out that shower or thunderstorm chance.
03:03But near 60 today with, again, some afternoon sun and an isolated shower or two, but a better
03:08chance of those showers north.
03:10Still a lingering chance of a few showers tomorrow, a little cooler.
03:13And then Friday, back into sunshine.
03:15High pressure is back.
03:16Should see highs near 60.
03:1768 on Saturday, looking beautiful.
03:20Plenty of sun.
03:21Sunday, more clouds around, but warmer, 70.
03:23And again, we could see some lightning and thunder.
03:25And then Monday, still that lingering chance of some showers.
03:28Otherwise, pretty typical April weather here over the next seven days.
