00:00The students of the Return Academy visit the Department of Civil Protection.
00:07Sustainability and innovation, new technologies for road transport.
00:13A group of students of the Return Academy attended a didactic visit to the Department of Civil Protection.
00:20The students of the Return Academy visited the Department of Civil Protection.
00:27The students of the Return Academy visited the Department of Civil Protection in its operating rooms in Rome.
00:33The meeting takes place during the training course of the Academy, which aims to develop interdisciplinary skills
00:39in disaster risk management, in a context of climate change.
00:44The Return Academy wants to contribute to training qualified professionals with transversal skills in the field of risk management.
00:52This experience on the field allows the students to understand closely the operating dynamics of civil protection, making their theoretical training concrete.
01:01The Breton Academy is set up in a transversal way, among many disciplines,
01:08and tries to train complex professionals who are able to interpret in their respective specialization fields the elements that lead to knowledge, prevention and risk contrast.
01:28The Academy is part of the RETURN project, financed by the PNRR with an investment of over 115 million euros.
01:35The project, coordinated by the University of the Studies of Naples Federico II, focuses on the analysis and mitigation of environmental, natural and anthropogenic risks, with the aim of making communities more resilient.
01:47The students of the RETURN Academy selected by BANDO come from different disciplines, graduating in technical and scientific subjects, but also in humanistic areas.
01:56This multidisciplinary approach is one of the strengths of the training course.
02:01We interacted not only by listening to different stakeholders, then we have, for example, today we are in civil protection, so another stakeholder is very important.
02:12Let's say that several subjects have told their own experience, they gave us the keys to understand the problem and then to be able to explain it also in our various careers.
02:24During the visit, the students had the opportunity to closely observe the operation of the operating rooms and understand the role of the Department of Civil Protection in the management of emergencies.
02:33We are very interested in the training of these young professional generations on two fronts.
02:40On the one hand, we are interested in the fact that some of these future civil protection operators have been formed, because some of these people could perhaps in the future work in civil protection or in an entity that works with us.
02:52On the other hand, they could bring to their world of work experiences and knowledge of civil protection that will allow them to bring this type of information into their daily profession,
03:03therefore having an awareness of the risk that is more difficult to find in these contexts.
03:08The initiative represents a concrete example of experiential teaching, combining academic training and practical application.
03:15With the first edition of the Academy, the program consolidates its role of excellence in the training of professionals capable of facing the challenges of environmental risks and territorial resilience.
03:27The need to equip ourselves with more and more reliable and resilient rail networks inevitably passes from technological innovation and, in particular, from digitization,
03:35an element that is now inseparable from another central driver in the transformation of the compartment, sustainability.
03:42Innovation and digitization in rail infrastructures, Digital Twin, sustainability, predictive maintenance and BIM were discussed during the meeting,
03:52carried out at the Politecnico di Milano and organized by the Italian Rail Engineering College in collaboration with the Department of Energy of Ateneo and Arpaceas.
04:01In the last three years, and I am not afraid to be denied, there has been a paradigm shift regarding the adoption of digital technologies
04:10and the approach in terms of sustainability.
04:14I would also like to say that our company has had an important role in this phase, in the last three years,
04:23accompanying those who are the main players in the railway infrastructure industry
04:30and therefore reaffirming their role of leadership thanks to a continuous innovation of products and services,
04:37as has also been demonstrated in today's agreement.
04:41In order to meet the increasing demand from citizens and the standards from 2030 to 2050 requested by the European Community,
04:49it is necessary for the capacity of the railway network to grow.
04:52Thinking about still occupying territory is not sustainable from an environmental or economic point of view,
04:59so technology must come to meet us.
05:02We ask those who develop these technologies to work to have a more reliable and resilient railway infrastructure,
05:12so that it is able to respond both to the increase in traffic and to the quality of the service that we have seen in recent months,
05:19in short, it has given us some concerns.
05:22Professor Maurice Brenna, from the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano,
05:26will present the technologies that are revolutionizing the world of transport on the railway.
05:31In the field of design we have the BIM, which is an integrated design system
05:37that allows an integrated design of both infrastructures and technological systems.
05:45Then we have artificial intelligence techniques that allow the optimization of energy consumption.
05:52Finally, we have new signaling systems that allow greater interoperability of trains
06:00and a greater ability to serve the punctuality and reliability of the system.
06:07The Lombardy region sees an important investment opportunity in railway transport
06:12to accelerate on the front of sustainability and shared mobility.
06:16We have not only invested 1.7 billion euros in the fleet change with the purchase of 214 new trains,
06:25we have invested on hydrogen an important bet that will start next year
06:30in the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo deal with 14 hydrogen trains.
06:35We have also invested on the railway network,
06:39especially with 15 billion from the PNRR with RFI,
06:45which is setting up a railway network renewal system.
06:50All this will lead to a better and more efficient transport system
06:54and that also offers a better comfort from the point of view of the citizen.
