00:00HOTSPOT BRO!
00:02Indonesia has entered the international brain rot chat with new memes to rival
00:06Bambadillo Crocodillo. First is the Hotspot Bro. You know, that one bro that always wants to use
00:11your hotspot. The original post that introduced the meme was shared by TikToker Dits88 on March
00:168th, 2025. The video features a seemingly AI-generated image of a sad skeleton with
00:21a phone for a head on his knees holding a phone with a Wi-Fi signal displayed. It's
00:25paired with a male Indonesian text-to-speech audio that says,
00:30HOTSPOT! HOTSPOT! BRO! HOTSPOT!
00:40The Indonesian being spoken translates to a kind of rant warning people against giving a specific
00:45anomaly your Wi-Fi hotspot, claiming that the anomaly will use the hotspot to download large
00:50files. The video garnered over 10 million views in just two weeks as it spread outside of Indonesian
00:55TikTok. The audio, and several related audios, went viral over the following days as TikTokers
01:00began using similar AI-generated imagery in memes about the bro who asks for the hotspot.
01:05For example, on March 13th, TikToker raw25mzi posted a video using an AI image of Gollum
01:11from The Lord of the Rings with a phone, garnering over 6 million views in under a week. Users would
01:16act out skits and reference the meme in all kinds of other ways, merging it with
01:25other currently popular memes, particularly international ones.
