00:40Prime Minister Han Juk-su, reinstating him as acting president.
00:51Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos, from the Resolute Studios
00:54in Caracas, Venezuela, we begin with the news, stay with us.
01:12In Venezuela, as part of the Return to the Homeland Plan, a plane landed that made a
01:16step over in Honduras with 199 Venezuelan migrants that were deported from the United
01:21States.
01:22The repatriated migrants arrived in the country an hour after midnight and were received in
01:26the airport by the Minister of Interior, Peace and Justice, Diosdado Cabello.
01:31The government of Venezuela has increased its efforts to ensure the return of Venezuelan
01:35migrants who were victims of the Trump administration's immigration policies, especially those who
01:40were illegally sent to El Salvador.
01:42It is recalled that the Return to the Homeland was established by President Nicolás Maduro
01:46in 2018 as a humanitarian initiative to facilitate the return of Venezuelan migrants who had
01:51left the country deceived by the so-called American Dream.
02:03And the United States government announced that it will impose a 25% tariff on trades
02:07from countries that buy oil or gas from Venezuela.
02:11The measure imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump will take effect on April 2 of this
02:15year, which is referred to as Liberation Day in America.
02:19In the publication made on social media, Trump assured that the new coercive action responds
02:23to the alleged hostilities of the South American country against Washington regarding its freedoms.
02:29The White House's demand is added to the conglomerate of criminal sanctions applied to the Venezuelan
02:33people, including the most recent elimination of the license granted to U.S. company Chevron
02:38to operate in Venezuela.
02:41The Ecuadorian presidential debate was held Sunday, March 23, in the event the candidate
03:03for the Citizens' Revolution and the President-nominee Daniel Ndopoa presented their proposals for
03:08the run of elections next April 13.
03:10Gabriela Mena provides for details.
03:12In Ecuador, the street of where poly-media outlets were broadcasting looked like this.
03:19There, they were to disseminate the presidential debate for the run of elections.
03:23Hundreds of supporters of the nominee for the Citizens' Revolution, Luisa González,
03:27supported her by raising flags, wearing T-shirts with slogans, and blowing boggles.
03:32At all times, they shouted the candidate's name.
03:39The presidential debate started at 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 23.
03:47Candidates have tackled five main concerning issues, including education, health and security.
03:51The first to speak was candidate Luisa González, who reiterated President-nominee Daniel Ndopoa
03:56all the time that he should stop lying to the country during his speeches.
04:13González highlighted the shortcomings of the president-candidate Daniel Ndopoa.
04:17First, she mentioned that children, teenagers and youngsters lack quality to enter the public
04:21education system.
04:23Then, she questioned that if he had not fulfilled his campaign proposals in 15 months in office,
04:29who guaranteed that now he would comply with them?
04:32She further referred to the illegalities committed by Ndopoa, as he consented officers to break
04:37into the Mexican embassy to arrest the former vice president Jorge Blas.
04:41Therefore, Ecuador had lost the support of the international community, she argued, granting
04:46to recover global trust in case she won elections.
04:53What's the current trend of foreign investment in Ecuador?
04:57It is the worst in the past 10 years.
04:59Nobody wants to come to a country where the president violates international treaties,
05:03laws and the constitution itself.
05:06And this directly impacts employment so that you have caused economic domestic crises.
05:13President Luisa González stated that she will lower the VAT, attract energy investments
05:17and that poly banking will be for development, with low interest rate credits.
05:22In addition, she affirmed at all times that the Citizens' Revolution Party won't make
05:26changes in dollarization.
05:28She said so in response to Ndopoa's proposal of changing the transactional currency, despite
05:33the fact that it is the Citizens' Revolution who seeks to make the dollar official from
05:38the National Assembly.
05:39Ecuadorian President and candidate Daniel Ndopoa reaffirmed to reinstate foreign military
05:48bases in the country to control drug trafficking.
05:55In addition, we'll always maintain our respect for our armed forces, the national police
06:02and all state officials who today are working hard for this new Ecuador.
06:07González questioned Ndopoa on whether he will collect the millionaire debt of 94 million
06:13dollars in taxes from his family and he answered no.
06:16However, this is not a new scenario because Ndopoa has awarded several state businesses
06:21to his family on his term.
06:25Subsidies to Petro Ndopoa, school breakfast to your aunt, ethanol to your aunt, power
06:31outages and job losses, economic impact on the Esmeralda's population and the environment,
06:37200,000 layoffs, giving the Sasha oil field as a gift, which was prevented by citizens'
06:43actions, repelling public investments, you have brought about all these problems in just
06:50a single year.
06:51The presidential debate had lasted around two hours and prior to the closing, the president
06:57candidate was questioned about not entrusting the presidency to the vice president, Verónica
07:02Abad, during his electoral campaign as abided by law, an issue that Ndopoa evaded.
07:08According to the law, Ndopoa could not participate in the presidential debate being both a president
07:14and a candidate.
07:15However, he did it.

07:30Stay with us.
07:31Welcome back.
07:32On March 24th, under the slogan Never Again, massive mobilizations are taking place throughout
07:42Argentina to commemorate the Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice, 49 years after the
07:471976 civil military coup.
07:49Human rights organizations take to the streets of different parts of the country in which
07:53they raise their voices for remembrance, truth and justice for the 30,000 people who
07:58disappeared during the civil military dictatorship led by Jorge Rafael Videla.
08:03As every year citizens express their rejection to the systematic baby-stealing plan carried
08:09out by the military and the establishment of the neoliberal model which led to the closing
08:13of some 20,000 factories during the day, the human rights movement also denies repressive
08:20and adjustment policies implemented by the government of Javier Mele.
08:34Let's now go with our correspondent in Argentina, Belen De Los Santos, to have first-hand information
08:38coming from the streets of Buenos Aires.
08:40Welcome Belen.
08:41What can you tell us?
08:42Hello studios.
08:43Once again, we continue here in downtown Buenos Aires.
08:48We're just one block away from Plaza de Mayo, the epicenter of this great mobilization.
08:55March 24th, we've said the importance, the relevance of this day to Argentinians and
09:01also in the continent in which we commemorate but also denounce the coup d'etat that took
09:06place in 1976, all its crimes.
09:09But also something very important to keep in mind is that besides being just a political
09:15act of memory for Argentinians this day of truth, memory, and justice, it's also a political
09:22struggle that has to do with the present and the present context.
09:26And Argentina is living a very particular scene with Mele's government, with Mele's
09:32repressive policies that are targeting the working class very much like they did so in
09:38the civil military dictatorship that started that 1976.
09:43So we are talking to some of the people that came to participate to this march, this very
09:48significant march that is about to be maybe one of the most significant in terms of participation.
09:54And Amita Eduard is a worker student and has come here to participate one more year.
10:01I wanted to ask you, why is it important to come here and what is the significance of
10:06this day in this repressive context that Argentina is living?
10:11It is very important to be here always because this is the way we keep the memory alive of
10:17these events, these horrible events that happened in this country.
10:21But this year is especially important for two reasons.
10:24One is the political context in the whole world of fascism, especially in this country
10:30where the crimes of the dictatorship that happened here are being negated in this whole
10:35continent, actually.
10:38This is a special moment for us.
10:39This is the reason why the two marches of this country are, for the first time in 20
10:45years, uniting for one political response.
10:48It is important that we show that we are united, even if we come from different political fronts.
10:57It is very important that we show the government we are united, we remember, and we will keep
11:03remembering these events and they can't negate what happened here.
11:08So we were talking before about the significance of unity in this march.
11:15Both acts are coming together.
11:17It's taking place just one block from where we are right now.
11:21The main act of this March 24th, in which Argentinians come together to say that this
11:27level of state terrorism and state violence against any political opposition will happen
11:32never again in Argentina.
11:34We go back to you in studios and we will continue reporting as this day progresses.
11:45Thank you Belén.
11:46Let's now continue with our news.
11:47In Haiti, social organizations announced leaders in action in the face of the nation's multidimensional
11:53crisis.
11:54Organizations pointed out that society is adrift and qualified as alarming the worsening
11:58situation of the Caribbean country, entailing serious consequences for the population.
12:03These organizations also call on all sectors of the state to assume their responsibilities
12:08to give the nation a credible alternative and to no longer depend on external support.
12:12In this sense, they warn about the need to implement a new leadership capable of facing
12:16the situation of the country.
12:26Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff was re-elected as head of the new development
12:30bank known as the BRICS Bank, a position that she holds since April 2023.
12:35During the China Development Forum 2025, she announced her re-election to head the new
12:38development bank, founded in 2015 by the member nations of BRICS Group, initially comprised
12:44in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
12:47For its part, the Brazilian government and the Brazilian Workers' Party congratulated
12:50Rousseff for heading another term as the head of the BRICS Bank.
12:54Rousseff's re-election, now for a five-year term, was proposed by the President of Russia
12:58Vladimir Putin after negotiations with the Brazilian leader and unanimously approved
13:02by the Bank's Board of Directors.
13:17In Saudi Arabia, negotiations for a possible agreement on the Ukrainian conflict between
13:21the United States and Russia concluded.
13:23During the meeting, which lasted more than 10 hours, both delegations agreed on the possible
13:27signing of a final declaration on the agenda discussed.
13:30In this regard, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that no document is expected to
13:34be signed after the consultations held in Riyadh.
13:37On the day, Moscow mentioned that a possible future agreement between the parties on Ukraine
13:42could be extended.
13:43A Russian official, however, indicated in the early hours that the end of hostilities
13:47in the Black Sea and the resumption of the Green Agreement was the focus of the talks.
13:58Meanwhile, the Russian government reaffirmed its position of upholding the agreement not
14:04to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
14:07Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the current order of Russian President Vladimir
14:11Putin not to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure remains in force, despite Kiev's attacks
14:16and violations of the agreement.
14:18In this regard, the Russian government denounced that the regime of Volodymyr Zelensky is carrying
14:22out attacks on infrastructure such as oil pumping stations in the region and other energy
14:26infrastructure.
14:27They also denounced that Kiev's actions maintain the tension in the region and prevent the
14:32achievement of a diplomatic understanding that would put an end to the conflict.

15:20A new vaccine and health measure registered over 61 deaths in the last 24 hours as a result
15:25of the Israeli forces' endless shellings on the Gaza Strip.
15:28The health entity indicated that the resumption of the Sudanese offensive had pushed the death
15:32toll up to over 46,000 and 110,000 others wounded in the enclave in 15 months.
15:38The Israeli regime had mounted raids and bombings on several areas of the south and north of
15:43Gaza at the crack of Monday, March 24, including the Nasser Hospital located in southern Hamas,
15:50There the medical staff denounced the Sudanese aggression and demanded humanitarian intervention
15:54from the international community.
16:06The men's surgery department was targeted by the Israeli occupation and destroyed entirely
16:11with guided missiles as if the Israeli occupation wanted to put this system out of service and
16:17destroy this system because it is considered the last breath of the Palestinian people.
16:24And in South Korea, the Constitutional Court dismissed the impeachment proceedings against
16:28Prime Minister Han Duk-soo, reinstating him as acting president after President Jun Suk-yoo
16:33was suspended for declaring martial law.
16:36The decision was reached with five votes in favor and one against by the members of the
16:40court, while two judges ruled that the motion against Han was invalid since two-thirds of
16:44the legislators did not approve it.
16:46The ruling came three months after the Korean parliament indicted the Prime Minister for
16:50his alleged role in President Jun Suk-yoo's declaration of martial law on December 3,
16:542024, among other charges.
16:57After his reinstatement, Han stated that he would spare no effort to address the urgent
17:01matters following his return and express his positive assessment of the process and the
17:05Constitutional Court's decision.
17:16And also in South Korea, a series of forest fires caused the death of at least four firefighters
17:32and the evacuation of 600 people.
17:34The fire broke out last Friday in Sangcheon County, and in addition to the fatalities,
17:39left six people injured, burned 16 houses, two factories, nine warehouses, and two temples.
17:44Over the weekend, the flames spread to neighboring Hadong County due to the strong dry winds
17:49in the area.
17:50In this regard, the authorities deployed 36 helicopters to assist from the air in the
17:54work of containing the flames, as well as to provide the necessary medical assistance.
18:06Meanwhile, in Japan, forest fires have also affected two areas in the western part of
18:10the country, damaging several houses and forcing thousands of residents to evacuate.

18:20while a helicopter was seen dropping water on the fire.
