A band of thicker cloud continues to move south bringing patchy rain for northern and central England and Wales and then southern England by late morning. 00:00Good morning. We've got a cloudier day to come for many of us today, but there'll still
00:03be plenty of warm spring sunshine for some of us as well, particularly in the south at
00:08the first thing this morning. So whilst there is a little bit of fog around first thing
00:12today, that should fairly quickly lift and then there'll be some sunshine for a time.
00:16We have got this band of thicker cloud though spreading down from the north and that's going
00:20to be producing some patchy light rain and drizzle in places and quite murky conditions
00:24across the hills of Wales and more generally around the southwest of England. So a bit
00:29of a damp picture here through much of the afternoon. But further north, skies brightening
00:33across many parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England with plenty of sunshine
00:37once again this afternoon. And it should feel fairly pleasantly warm in that sunshine with
00:42temperatures reaching highs of 14 or 15 degrees for many of us, perhaps even 16 degrees locally
00:47for parts of eastern Scotland and the northeast of England. It won't perhaps feel quite as
00:53warm as it did yesterday across more southern areas, but nonetheless, these temperatures
00:57are well above average for the time of year. So if you go through into this evening, it
01:02stays fairly cloudy across the south for a time. Any drizzle and light rain, they will
01:06generally tend to ease and clear away. And then we've got, generally speaking, largely
01:10clear skies across many parts of the UK overnight. So with those clear skies, temperatures are
01:15going to drop away and I think it will be a chillier night to come for many of us compared
01:19to last night. Out towards more eastern and southern parts of England especially, but
01:24also in parts of Wales, we could see a few fog patches and locally that could be fairly
01:29persistent with some very poor visibilities by the end of the night. So if you do have
01:33travel plans first thing tomorrow morning, then do perhaps leave some extra time for
01:37your journeys. Temperatures falling down to mid to low single figures, there will be a
01:41touch of frost in more rural areas, so temperatures down to around freezing or so in the countryside.
01:48But tomorrow looks like a fine day once again for the vast majority of us. There will be
01:53some low cloud and fog, particularly in central and eastern parts of England first thing.
01:57That will slowly lift as we go through the morning. So skies brightening up for many
02:00of us. Lots of sunshine once again, particularly across the north and the east. But the Midlands,
02:06Wales and the southwest also seeing some sunshine too. A bit more in a way of fair weather cloud
02:10across the southeast, but still some sunny spells as well.
02:15Now towards the far northwest, though, you'll notice that it's turning wet and windy across
02:18the far northwest of Scotland. That's signs of a thing change to come. So some stronger
02:23winds coming in here and some heavier rain by the evening. But ahead of that, temperatures
02:27once again well above average for the time of year. Highs of 16 or perhaps even 17 degrees
02:32Celsius. So once again, feeling very pleasant indeed in that sunshine.
02:38As we go into Wednesday evening, then this cold front is going to start to move its way
02:41down across the UK as we go into the early hours of Thursday morning. That's going to
02:45bring a little bit of rain in places in the south, but not very much at all. But it is
02:49going to turn generally more unsettled as we go towards Thursday and Friday and some
02:53slightly cooler air following in from the northwest for Friday and into the weekend.
02:57So a mixture of sunshine and showers and temperatures not quite as high as they have been of late.
