00:00After some decent warmth over the weekend, it is all changed this week.
00:04It is going to turn quite a bit chillier for all of us.
00:07There's going to be a northerly wind pushing its way down.
00:09And actually, if we look at the bigger picture to start off with,
00:12there's a cold front lying across the UK and it's to the north of this cold front.
00:16As you would expect, there's some markedly colder air
00:19that's going to push its way southwards as we go through today into tomorrow.
00:22And so temperatures are really going to drop.
00:24But looking at the details, and it was quite a foggy start
00:28across some parts of eastern England through this morning.
00:30A lot of that fog has now cleared away.
00:32And actually, across central parts, it's here we're going to have
00:35the best of the bright weather into this afternoon.
00:38Even parts of east Anglia, Kent perhaps, seeing some decent sunshine.
00:42Other places, a bit cloudier across parts of the southern Midlands,
00:46central southern England into the southwest, also south Wales,
00:49a lot of cloud and some outbreaks of rain.
00:51And further north, a mixture of, yes, some clouds, some sunny spells,
00:55also a few showers, particularly across some eastern parts of Scotland.
00:58And here, there could be a bit of sleet or snow over the highest ground.
01:02Now, when it comes to our temperatures, a real north-south split across the south,
01:06where we're still clinging on to that milder air for the time being.
01:09Temperatures not as high as they were over the weekend,
01:12but still mid-teens, so not feeling too bad,
01:15especially if you get any of that sunshine.
01:17Further north, though, temperatures quite a few degrees down
01:20compared to recent days, mid-single figures at best for some places.
01:24Now, as we go through into this evening, we're still going to see some showers
01:27across parts of Scotland and still some sleet or snow quite likely here,
01:31a few showers skirting into some north-eastern parts of England as well.
01:36Elsewhere, mostly dry, but across parts of the southwest, maybe south Wales,
01:40the cloud will be quite thick and there will be some rain.
01:42It will pep up for a time before starting to clear away
01:45as we head towards dawn tomorrow morning.
01:48In the south, it's staying pretty cloudy, but further north,
01:51across some southern parts of Scotland, northern England, Northern Ireland,
01:54there will be some clearer skies and it's here we're going to see the lowest temperatures.
01:58Quite a bit chillier than it has been through some recent nights,
02:01a touch of frost quite likely, even perhaps some icy patches to watch out for.
02:05But where it's cloudier, it is going to be that little bit milder.
02:09Through tomorrow then, a largely dry day for many of us.
02:12Any lingering rain in the southwest quickly clears away
02:15and then there will be scattered showers across parts of Scotland,
02:18perhaps some eastern coastal parts, particularly towards northeast England.
02:22But most places avoiding these, also some showers perhaps for Northern Ireland.
02:25Most places though, staying largely dry and a mix of bright or sunny spells,
02:30but the cloud perhaps building a little bit more as we go through the afternoon.
02:34The thing that many of us will notice though will be the drop in temperatures.
02:37Whilst temperatures may be similar or maybe a degree or so higher than today
02:41across northern parts, in the south they're going to be a good 4, 5, maybe even 6 degrees lower
02:46and so it is going to feel quite a bit fresher,
02:49especially when you factor in this northerly wind.
02:51Anywhere exposed to that northerly wind is going to feel pretty fresh or chilly indeed.
02:56More showers to come as we go through tomorrow evening,
02:59particularly across northern parts, but they are going to spread a bit further southwards
03:03though always towards the far south, a greater chance of avoiding them
03:06and there will be some clear spells developing in between those showers
03:10as we go overnight into Wednesday.
03:12Showers, well that's the theme as we go through the rest of this week.
03:16There will be a mixture of cloud and sunny spells, but also fairly frequent showers,
03:21perhaps towards western parts, a greater chance of avoiding them and staying largely dry
03:25and actually as we go towards the weekend, signs of high pressure building
03:29and so those showers should be easing.
03:31I think the other thing though, I've already mentioned it, temperatures dropping
03:34so it is going to be feeling generally quite a bit cooler than it has done through some recent days,
03:39especially compared to the relatively warm weekend.
03:43But if you want more information about what you can expect through this week,
03:46do head to our YouTube channel where you will be able to find our week ahead forecast
03:49which was presented by ONR and that will be available later on this afternoon.
03:53I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
