Turning cloudier for northern Scotland and western Northern Ireland with a band of persistent rain arriving over these regions as we go through the afternoon. Much of the far south of England will also be covered in cloud but should remain dry. Plenty of clear skies and sunshine for the remainder of the UK. Feeling warm in the sunshine - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 24/03/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Honor Criswick.

00:00Hello there, good afternoon. After a cloudy start for many, we're set to see a return
00:05of the warm spring sunshine. That's away from the north-west though, more clouds spilling
00:09in here and also some long and persistent outbreaks of rain, particularly across north-western
00:13parts of Scotland, northern Scotland, and then later on just starting to creep into
00:17western parts of Northern Ireland. But elsewhere, once any cloud clears across the south, there's
00:21going to be plenty of blue skies, plenty of spring sunshine, and feeling warm in that
00:26sunshine too, with highs of around 14-15C. Then through the course of the night, we'll
00:32see this band of cloud outbreaks of rain slowly sink their way south-eastwards, bringing quite
00:37a wet night across Northern Ireland, still across parts of Scotland, and then later creeping
00:41into northern parts of England and Wales. So quite a damp morning to come by the time
00:45we reach Tuesday, but across the south and south-east, plenty of clear skies, but that
00:50means we're likely to see some mist and fog, turning chillier here too, but largely frost-free,
00:55but remaining largely mild under cloudier skies. Then as we head into tomorrow, there
01:01is more cloud and some outbreaks of rain on its way as this band continues to sink its
01:05way southwards, but any rain largely petering out, particularly by the afternoon, but just
01:10bringing more in the way of cloud across the south. But to the north of this, seeing those
01:14sunny spells break through the cloud, particularly across Northern Ireland and Scotland, and
01:18once again, temperatures of around 14-15C, so feeling pleasant where you do catch those
01:23sunnier spells. Then for the rest of the week, we have a ridge of high pressure, so fine
01:29conditions later into Tuesday and on Wednesday, but through the course of the week, we'll
01:33start to see a return of Atlantic mobility, so frontal systems pushing their way in, bringing
01:38more clouds, some outbreaks of rain, perhaps even some quite breezy weather by the time
01:41we reach Friday. But for more updates on the week ahead, you can catch Alex Berkhill later,
01:46otherwise that's it from me. Bye bye.
