24 March - national forecast presented by Marco Petagna
Transcript
00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Mark O'Britannia.
00:04We're starting the new working week on a rather grey note across many southern and south-eastern
00:07parts of the UK, some hill fog in places. They'll slowly lift as we go through the morning,
00:11leaving a mostly fine day across the UK, plenty of sunshine developing, the best of that sunshine
00:15likely across the central slice of the UK, with cloudier skies moving in across the far
00:20north and north-west with some outbreaks of rain, accompanied by quite brisk winds. That
00:24rain moving in across many northern and western parts of Scotland into the afternoon, turning
00:28locally heavy in nature at the same time, and some rain also into the far west of Northern
00:32Ireland by the middle part of the afternoon. Despite the cloud towards the north-west though,
00:36temperatures holding up fairly well for the time of year, peaking at 11-13C, with the
00:40best of the temperatures, the highest values down towards the south and south-east, given
00:43the sunshine and pretty light winds too here, it should feel quite warm out and about, those
00:48temperatures peaking around about 15C, 59C in Fahrenheit. As we go into the evening and
00:53through the overnight period, as outbreaks of rain across the far north-west will start
00:57to slip the way south-eastwards, reaching England and Wales during the early hours of
01:00Tuesday. The far south-east of England, probably staying mostly fine until the start of the
01:04day on Tuesday, with some clear spells, could see the odd pocket of frost here too by Tuesday
01:08morning. As towards the north-west of that front, temperatures hold up fairly well, given
01:12quite a brisk breeze, here there'll be a mixture of clear spells and a few showers, with temperatures
01:16holding up at around about 8 or 9C. As for Tuesday itself, well it's the turn of the
01:21south of the UK to see the cloudiest skies, those outbreaks of rain continue to slip southwards,
01:26reaching many central and southern parts of England, much of Wales too as we go through
01:29the day on Tuesday. Towards the north and west of that though, much brighter skies,
01:33quite a brisk breeze, fresher air with a mixture of sunshine and a few showers there towards
01:37the far north and north-west of the UK. Despite that fresher breeze, temperatures are still
01:42doing quite well for this point in March, peaking at 12 or 13C towards the north of
01:46the UK, up to 15 or 16C down towards the south and south-east, 16C is into the low 60s in
01:52Fahrenheit. That's pretty much it from me, but of course you can keep tuned to the Met
01:55Office forecast by following us on social media and by subscribing to our YouTube channel.
02:00I'll see you soon, take care for now, bye bye.
