17 March - national weather forecast presented by Marco Petagna.

00:00Hello, good morning. Here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Pitania.
00:04High pressures bring in plenty of fine and settled weather to start this new working
00:07week. Certainly to start the day across the north-west of Scotland, there's plenty of
00:10sunshine. Quite a frosty start here though. Elsewhere, the frost is more patchy, there's
00:13more in the way of cloud around, and the cloud's thick enough down towards east-southwest
00:17to give one or two showers. We do hold onto a fair bit of cloud across many southern and
00:20western spots as we go through the day and into the afternoon. It'll be in the east and
00:24south-east of England, generally seeing the best of the sunshine. That's because drier
00:27air will start to move in from the south-east from the near continent, so parts of eastern
00:31and south-east England certainly will see pretty much wall-to-wall sunshine by the end
00:34of the afternoon. Despite any sunshine though, temperatures are still struggling for the
00:38time of year. With that south-easterly breeze in place, temperatures towards the north of
00:41the UK are no better than 7 or 8 Celsius. Down towards the south, perhaps locally peaking
00:45at 10 or 11 degrees, 10 is 50 in Fahrenheit. As we go into the evening and through the
00:50overnight period, the cloud will tend to push away north-westwards, so we see much clearer
00:54skies moving in across all parts of the UK, as that drier air from the near continent
00:58makes its presence felt across all parts. We'll also pay the price though for those
01:01clearer skies. Notice those temperatures, the blue colours there indicating a widespread
01:05frost forming by Tuesday morning. Certainly across rural parts of Scotland, we could dip
01:09down to minus 7 or even minus 8 Celsius in one or two spots, with values down towards
01:13the south, just about holding above freezing in some of the towns and cities. As for Tuesday
01:17itself, well after that very cold frosty start, frost only slowly lifting through as we go
01:22through the morning, leaving plenty of sunshine across the bulk of the UK. A bit of patchy
01:26cloud up towards the far north-east, could give one or two showers there across Shetland,
01:29but on the whole it will be a pretty sunny day, but once again quite cold for the time
01:33of year. Temperatures no better than 10 or 11 Celsius, 11 in the south there is 52 in
01:38Fahrenheit. As for the rest of the week, well we hold onto a good deal of sunshine through
01:41the middle to second part of the week, and those temperatures starting to climb quite
01:45nicely too. Certainly by Thursday and Friday we could see temperatures into the high teens
01:48in one or two spots, but by Friday things will start to turn more unsettled, as low
01:52pressure arrives from the south and west. That's pretty much it for me, but of course
01:56you can keep tuned to The Met Office Forecast by following us on social media and by subscribing
