27 January - National weather forecast presented by Marco Petagna
Transcript
00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Pitania.
00:04Over the next few days we hold on to unsettled conditions with low pressure dominating.
00:08Low pressure currently set out towards the west of the UK but gradually making inroads from the west
00:12and notice tightly packed ice bars indicating pretty blustery conditions
00:16with outbreaks of rain never too far away.
00:18So looking at things in more detail for today now then.
00:21We've got a pretty unsettled picture across the UK with bands of showers moving in from the south west
00:25moving north and east across pretty much all parts as we go through the day.
00:29A bit of winterness at times across the hills of Scotland and wherever you are
00:32those showers will be accompanied by pretty blustery conditions with gales
00:36particularly down towards the south and south west of the UK
00:38with parts of Wales perhaps seeing some of the heaviest bursts of rain.
00:41Temperatures on the face of it not too bad, close to the seasonal average in fact
00:44in the range 6 to 10 Celsius, 10 down towards the south west there is 50 in Fahrenheit.
00:49But if we add on the effect of those showers and those brisk winds
00:52it's certainly going to feel much colder out and about.
00:54Heading into the evening and through the overnight period then
00:57low pressure still anchored pretty much towards the west of the UK
01:00so we'll see further shower bursts of rain moving pretty much across all areas
01:04from south to north as we go through the overnight period.
01:06Again there could be a bit of winterness across the mountains of Scotland
01:09but given the blustery conditions with gales in some parts and those showers too
01:14the temperatures will tend to hold up so most places will be frost free
01:17lowest values in Scotland down into low single figures
01:20but for much of the UK holding up around 5 to 7 Celsius.
01:24On into Tuesday now and low pressure will be pretty much slap bang across the UK
01:28so the winds will start to ease down gradually but notice from the chart there
01:31there's lots of showers still to contend with.
01:33Again some of those showers could be quite heavy in places
01:36merging still to give some longer spells of rain.
01:38There will still be enough of a wind to take the edge off the temperature
01:41highs of 6 to 10 Celsius, 10 down towards the south west again
01:45this is around the 50 Fahrenheit mark.
01:47That's pretty much it from me but of course you can keep tuned to the Met Office forecast
