00:00I've been invited down to the world-famous Pleasure Beach Resort in Blackpool to find
00:05out what is happening this season and next. I was joined by hundreds of other movers and
00:11shakers from the Blackpool area who've all gathered in the Globe Theatre to find out.
00:20So we heard all about the new shows, performances, the attractions for children and adults alike
00:28and then there was one special announcement at the end.
00:34Hi I'm James Cox, Director of Marketing Sales and we are here at Pleasure Beach Resort.
00:39And so we're here for the season launch 2025 so what can we look forward to? What are the
00:46main highlights that we've got coming up this season and next? Yeah so we've had a bit of a
00:51quieter year last year in terms of no real big announcements but this year we've got two.
00:56We have Launchpad which will be reopening in spring of 2025 so guests will be able to
01:02experience that maximum force from the new pressure cylinder that we've installed and
01:05it will take it back to its original glory giving guests that ultimate thrill experience.
01:10And then what we've just announced today is that in 2026 we will be getting a brand new
01:15138 foot gyro swing, a UK first, and it's going to just you know amaze guests as soon as we get
01:22it so we're really looking forward to that. We've got a demolition going on site at the moment
01:25to make way for this exciting new project, Project 2026. So whereabouts in the resort is
01:32this going to be situated? Yeah so it's an area that some people may know as the Boulderdrome
01:38Arcade so it's just the area located near the river caves. That arcade is currently being
01:43demolished to make way for this huge gyro swing. It's going to change the skyline once again like
01:48we did with the big one in 1994. You'll be able to see this 138 foot attraction from the exterior
01:53of the park so it's just something really exciting to be for the people in Blackpool,
01:58for hoteliers of Blackpool and anyone looking to visit Blackpool as well as obviously everyone
02:01looking to visit us at Pleasure Beach. Please can you tell us what a gyro swing is? So a gyro swing
02:07is a 40 seater turning pendulum would be the best way to describe it. Obviously ours is 138 foot.
02:15I think it takes you beyond 90 degrees so you're strapped in obviously very safely and experience
02:22spinning 360 degree rotation at the same time as being rocking on a pendulum which takes you above
02:28a right angle at 90 degrees so it's a unique experience that most people will have never
02:33had. There are smaller versions of this for smaller children but there's nothing like this
02:39in the UK. The height of it is just unbelievable.
