Transcript
00:00Hiya, so I'm Laura, I'm a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice in my second year. So, when I first
00:12went for this job I was 16, I sent an email to the pleasure page, I explained who I was,
00:19why I was asking, if they still ran their apprenticeship programme and sort of all the
00:23small details like that and they got back to me, they wanted to meet me, so I drove
00:27the 200, well my mum drove me the 250 miles up here to meet two women from HR, they liked
00:34me, I got shown sort of around some of the workshops and then I was invited back to do
00:38two days of work experience, so I came and did two days of work experience and they liked
00:43me enough to offer me an apprenticeship which was an incredible feeling because I've always
00:47loved roller coasters, I've always loved engineering, so to combine the two passions at the park
00:52I've wanted to work at my whole life, it was brilliant and my mum and my dad have
00:57changed their whole lives just so I can have the career I want and I mean this job, it's
01:02unlike any other job you will ever find in the world, it's very much we have two jobs,
01:07we have our seasonal job where we go out, we check the rides, we take shouts, we just
01:10do sort of little things here and there and then you've got your winter job where you're
01:14stripping trains down, you're rebuilding them and it just, it adds a lot of variety, a lot
01:19of other jobs you might get say five tasks that you swap between, here we're having breakdown
01:24shouts we've never heard of before and rides that have been open for 30 years and it's
01:28incredible and I mean working on stuff like Icon which is brand new all the way to Big
01:33One which is 30 years old and Big Dipper which is 100, it's just, it's a once in a lifetime
01:38job and I can't wait to spend my whole working career here, it's just incredible.
