00:00The family of another drug war victim is also asking for justice for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:06They are asking for help to give them the responsibility to kill their son.
00:11Details on the country's news by Bell Custodio of PTV Manila.
00:17Now that former President Rodrigo Duterte has been arrested
00:20because of the crimes against humanity,
00:23it is possible that the police will face cases in the Philippines that became part of the war on drugs.
00:28According to ICC Assistant Counsel Atty. Cristina Conte,
00:32who is also a lawyer for victims of extrajudicial killing,
00:35she will recommend filing a case against the police.
00:39We will study it, but yes, I would recommend filing charges.
00:44Domestic courts should entertain charges
00:51against the person who committed the crime or the chief of police.
00:57Conte also added that the ICC is expected to answer the highest official
01:02if a country cannot answer the justice system,
01:05while the local courts will judge its people or entities.
01:09According to a lawyer of EJK Victims, Atty. Nery Colmenares,
01:13aside from ordinary police officers,
01:15police generals should also be charged with war on drugs.
01:20According to Colmenares, they will not be able to file a case against Duterte
01:25because the police do not know the important documents,
01:28including SOCOR reports, autopsy reports, and death certificates of the victims.
01:33There was a child who was shot in the side and was hit,
01:40but the death certificate came out as bronchopneumonia.
01:43So how can you file a case against the police?
01:46The court will say that your child was not killed.
01:50Families are also afraid,
01:52especially those who are still active in the service of some police officers in EJ case.
01:56According to Dahlia Cuartero,
01:58the mother of the drug war victim, Jesus Cuartero,
02:01they tried to file a complaint with the Commission on Human Rights,
02:05but it did not work because no one wanted to investigate.
02:09We want to call on Mr. President to give us a chance
02:16to give compensation to the policemen,
02:21not only to Mr. Duterte,
02:24but also to Mr. Bato De La Rosa,
02:27one of the generals who carried out the attack.
02:32Aside from Duterte,
02:33the former PNP chief Ronald Bato De La Rosa and former NCRPO Director Oscar Albayalde
02:39were also charged with the ICC case.
02:42Some of the convicts in the extrajudicial killings
02:45are the three police officers who killed Kian De Los Santos.
02:49The first one was Digo,
02:50who promised to take responsibility for the war on drugs.
02:53From People's Television Network, Vel Custodio, Balitang Pambansa.
