00:00It was a busy morning on the Churchill Downs backside.
00:04We spoke with trainers Kenny McPeak and Rodolphe Beze, as well as Tammy Bobo, the owner of
00:09Kentucky Derby contender Simplification.
00:14It's a solid wide open group.
00:16There's probably 10 horses, 12 horses that have legitimate chance.
00:20So yeah, it's wide open and it's going to be quite interesting.
00:24It's going to be the pace of the race and who has a great trip.
00:28Smile Happy's not done anything wrong.
00:30He always runs well.
00:31The other colt had an eventful trip or at least didn't handle the sand really well at
00:36Gulfstream, but this is a different surface and he's done really well.
00:40He's two in a row coming in here and we're going to let him run early, but it's an exciting
00:46time.
00:47Two really good horses with a real chance.
00:59So we ended up with Simplification as a result of Valerie Dumeric's call and they still have
01:07a piece of him.
01:08So that was the acquisition.
01:10We went out to their farm, they fold him there, they bred him there, and then we vetted him
01:15and purchased Simplification.
01:17So we just decided with working with the horse and having him around, the Dumeric's had him,
01:22we had it.
01:23We all felt strongly, you know, that the colt could have a lot of natural talent or ability,
01:27we hoped.
01:28And we've been blessed and here we are.
01:30So he's tough, you know, he's tough.
01:33His eye though, he has an eye that I've never really seen on many other horses.
01:38He has just such a neat eye.
01:40If you just watch this horse and you look at this horse, he's very observant.
01:43He stops, he observes.
01:45He's very intuitive to everything going on around him.
01:48He's very, very intelligent, very smart horse, likes his space.
01:52You know, he's not a pocket pony.
01:53He's not going to climb in your pocket and want you to love on him a ton, but he loves
01:57his carrots and his treats and he picks his people and I'd like to think we're pretty
02:03good friends.
02:04We get along great.
02:05And you know, horses are like humans.
02:07They pick their people and in this horse, we get along.
02:28Philly's doing really good.
02:30Actually, we noticed a big change since I say the past six weeks.
02:38Really mature a lot.
02:39She calmed down a lot.
02:41We didn't bring her here too early because she has a win on the track already, you know,
02:45and she has three runs on it.
02:46So we know she likes the track.
02:48So we got her ready at home in Kinland and then she came here last Sunday and since she's
02:53been training very well.
02:56Pleasantly surprised so far because she can be a little hot and, you know, she has her
03:02buddy the pony with her and she's been sucking up everything pretty good.
03:08So hopefully we got a good day today and then tomorrow we will walk and bring her over there
03:14and see.
03:15It's an amazing experience.
03:28These horses bring us so much and to have the opportunity to work with them or be with
03:31them is it's a blessing.
03:33We all just want to make it to the starting gate on Saturday for all these horses.
03:37They all deserve to be here and they're all deserving of this opportunity.
