00:00Again, let's take your calls. How you feeling about Steve Kerr now, you know now that they win every game
00:05And and now that he's won more games than any other warrior coach has that calmed the the angst that is
00:12Directed at him that we've heard so much about over the last couple of years
00:17I know that plenty of you out there still huge Steve Kerr fans. My point is just a general one
00:23I feel like he's underappreciated and
00:25And and I the core of that has to be what you said a couple minutes ago
00:30Which is that the perception is and maybe it's the reality a little bit too
00:35which is he just that he'd been out there coaching great great players the whole time and
00:41That's not wrong at the same time
00:45three years ago
00:46he was the head coach when Andrew Wiggins became a different human being and
00:50and and Kavon Looney became a different human being and they and they suddenly won a championship and
00:56Jordan Poole was a part of that as a young homegrown player all of these things seem to be sort of against
01:04The narratives that I sometimes hear about Steve Kerr
01:08It's because I don't think people understand the the nature of what it is to be a coach because you have to coach in the games
01:15Yes, you have to coach in practice. You have to
01:18Individually coach the players and make sure that they're all in the right mind space you have to coach your coaches
01:23You have to set a schedule you have to deal with travel and I know he's not the traveling secretary
01:29But you got to make sure that everybody is in the right place and doing the right things and you got to work with
01:34The media you got to work with the medical staff and there's so many other things other than where's my clipboard?
01:40And let me draw up a play and every year it's different
01:43You have different personalities meshing with different personalities and you have to as a coach put everything together
01:49You have to make sure that like for right now TJ D trace Jackson Davis
01:54How does he coach him right now when you know, you're out of the rotation? You don't just ignore the guy
02:00you still have to coach him you still have to make sure that he is ready to go because if somebody gets a hangnail or
02:06You know elbow bursitis or whatever it is
02:09And now you need him you better have been coaching him these last six weeks
02:13You better have been putting him in the right mind frame of hey any minute now
02:18We might need you you got to stay sharp, right? That is great. And that's what he did with Moses all these years, right? Great
02:25great
02:26Great coach. He's an unbelievable communicator. Yes, and that when it comes to coaching
02:32I mean that is job number one number one the point you're making like you can there's been frustration sure
02:38Moody's upset coming is upset. Whatever Jordan pools upset. You're enabling Draymond green
02:43Okay, like fair points all around. Guess what? He's held it all together. Yeah
02:49Everybody remains through all that on the same page
02:54Everybody's on the same page. Look at the way coming and moody have handled these frustrating
03:01Months or whatever. Look at that. Look what they're doing. They're doing amazing
03:06they're playing well, their head is screwed on as straight as it could possibly be and
03:12They're responding to coaching and when opportunities really really knock
03:17Bang you run through that door
03:19To me God, I think he's just a phenomenal coach. Yeah, and I don't think we hear that very often
03:24No, and I I just think about Draymond green and he is a phenomenal player
03:29But you just mentioned it the Draymond and Jordan pool thing and you gave Draymond a pass and however, they navigated it
03:35They did a lot of it almost all of it behind the scenes and just coaching Draymond green in and of itself
03:43Is it's got to be very difficult. Holy crap. It's unbelievably fulfilling because he's such a great player
03:49He's a coach on the floor
03:50He does all the little things and he will do everything he can to win a game
03:54But you know that there's a certain amount of volatility. So just Steve coaching Draymond think about that
04:00Yeah, just 11 years and keeping them in the same Jersey and with the same level of respect, you know
04:06Draymond's one of the first things he talked about on the court the other night after he gave the night night was nods to Steve
04:12Kerr and and what an unbelievable job he does and I know people blow it off when it's like, oh, dude
04:16You're talking into a microphone. What's he gonna say? But like
04:20this would not be going like it is right now if
04:23if
04:24The person at the top was not holding it together. No doubt. It just it just wouldn't be going this way Craig in Albany
04:29Hi Craig. Thank you for calling
04:32Hey guys, thanks for having me on
04:35I'm not one of these ungrateful warrior fans who's been calling in for the last two years
04:41about
04:42Asking for Steve her curves head how he doesn't play the younger players
04:46This coach has delivered me to the promised land and delivered us from sin four times
04:53I'm a 54 year old man. I live in the Bay Area my whole life
04:58Before this I had the run DMC and that early Mavericks first round victory
05:05But I will take Steve Kerr and his nine
05:09Championships and his gold medal and his best coach and warrior winning history
05:15Until he doesn't want to coach us anymore. And that's what I got to say. I appreciate Steve Kerr Craig. Thanks very much
05:22Yeah, that's that's the boat that I'm in and I know what that can sometimes sound like it's as if he never makes a mistake
05:29Of course, he does. I don't I don't ask for that of
05:33Players coaches draft picks. Yeah. Hey, I don't ask for perfection. I don't think that's a realistic thing to do
05:41But he's a phenomenal coach man. I and and and maybe this is some of my
05:48NBA
05:49fan and media upbringing
05:52All right, fine get the drop ready
05:54Right, like when I first started working the NBA on a night-to-night basis
06:00It was in Los Angeles with Kobe and Shaq and I'm telling you to watch a coach
06:07Keep that together to the point where oh, by the way, even he couldn't anymore
06:13even he couldn't anymore the the the massive weight of
06:18Kobe and Shaq and
06:21Phil and the bus family and even Karl Malone and Gary Payton are in there at the end and
06:27All the other things that are going on in that locker room at the time dude the damn burst it burst
06:35Meanwhile here in the Bay Area
06:37You've got a dynasty. You've got a personality as big as Draymond green
06:42you have a star player who has reached the level where people are talking about him as maybe one of the or even the
06:49Greatest player in the history of the league you have all of that going on
06:53You have an arena switch. You have an ownership group that comes in that has a lot to say
07:00with with words and actions the weight of
07:05expectations and
07:07Dynastic runs is so heavy yet here. We sit in 2025 and listen to these guys talk
07:14No, I love each other
07:16There's like they're yep
07:18They're amazing and they're made the GM's amazing and the owners amazing and the coach is amazing the players are amazing and boy
07:25We can't wait to get to work again tomorrow. That's
07:28Unbelievable. It's almost unheard of and it comes down to not just Steve card
07:33He'll be the first to tell you that it's the entire organization
07:36And it's a it's an owner who is a big-time fan and is supportive and a general manager who?
07:42Worked under another general manager who is also cut from the same cloth just a good dude and Bob Myers and Mike Dunleavy's been around
07:50The league his whole life Mike Dunleavy
07:53Senior was an NBA player and an NBA coach
07:56So this man's been around the game for damn near his entire life
08:00and then you get down to your
08:02Superstar who forget how humble he is because we don't really know and now he's throwing out the night-night all the time
08:08But you do know that he is a great teammate and he's somebody that people want to play with so the culture permeates from
08:15The top all the way down and also from the bottom all the way up and so you'd be hard-pressed to find
08:22Anyone in the organization that is you know?
08:25March into the beat of their own drummer even you go to Raymond Ritter in the PR
08:30He's a prince of a man and just all the way across anyone you meet in that organization
08:35They're all kind of pulling on the same rope and those things matter absolutely
08:40I'm saying that is not easily achieved. No at all skinny Kev in San Mateo. You're next up skinny Kev
08:46How skinny are you?
08:49Hey, probably not really. It's just a fun nickname
08:54Have a drink first time I've listened to you guys for a long time first time calling in love you show
08:59Thank you. Thank you for all that you guys do you know I wanted to
09:04Call and just saying you guys it'll be repetitive to a lot of what you said, but I think that see Kerr
09:10I think he's a great coach
09:11I've always thought he's a great coach
09:12And I think that he is a victim of kind of the recency bias thing that he's always compared
09:17It's more he's compared to himself as opposed to you mentioned the the Niners
09:23How gets compared to other coaches, but you don't really hear people saying oh, he's not like Don Nelson
09:28He's not like adults people are comparing him to
09:31The 16 team the 17 team and it's kind of that what have you done for us now?
09:36You know looking at that you was right
09:39I mean we all sat back and just enjoyed
09:41The Warriors when we would even snip the playoffs and we'd have a phrase we believe and now all of a sudden we had
09:47Heroes and a lot of people in these stars a lot of people don't remember the old days
09:51They just remember now, and I think what you were saying about current what he handles her
09:57You know he's got the remarkable ability that he has played with
10:01Probably one of the best and now he gets to coach one of the best
10:04And I think he brought some of what he learned while playing and observing
10:08So how to run the team and he sits back he lets the team play he'd be here
10:13He instructs enough and then sits back and let them play and that's why I think they're so successful
10:18And they reinvent over and over and that's why I think that's where we are now
10:22And I think that he doesn't get enough credit. I think he's an amazing coach probably one of the best
10:26Yeah, Kev. Hey, thanks, man for the call and like to along the lines of what skinny Kev is sharing right there
10:32I know you'll remember the moment. I'm about to reference is on this show
10:38Approximately a year ago
10:39And it was something moody related and it was very as we know for the last two years very popular to get very freaked out
10:45About Moses Moody's playing time and I get it and there are two ways to look at the moody experience
10:50Because now he's playing great and some fans will be like see you dummy
10:54You should have played him all along and this would have happened or
10:58or
10:59Maybe he's actually getting his opportunity at exactly the right time because it wouldn't have looked like this at other moments
11:06I don't know and nobody can ever really really answer that but there was a Moses Moody game
11:11Where he went in off the bench and he caught fire and he got pulled a little bit too quick
11:17And then the game kind of turned the wrong way
11:20And then I think Moody went back in and whatever the last year
11:25Yes, and the Warriors won a game and you'll remember exactly what happened and he came on the show and the first thing we said
11:31Was like what was going on there with with Moses Moody's minutes people want to know first sentence out of his mouth
11:39Yeah, I messed that up. Yep
11:44Boom yeah, that's disarming. That's how you lead. That's right. That's how you lead
11:49And that's why he still has the ship together after what are we what how many years has this been this is year 11, okay?
11:55I was I don't know if it was 11 or 12. Yeah, all right
11:57Yeah winning percentage of 649 for his career in the regular year
12:01Which if you look at all the coaches who've coached at least five seasons that puts him
12:07Fifth right now all-time and winning percentage, okay, and that's you know
12:11He's 11 years and you look at his playoff wins. He's won 99 playoff games
12:16Which puts him seventh tied with red hour back. I don't know if you've ever heard of him. Yes. Yeah, and so
12:24Steve's next playoff win will tie him with Larry Brown for sixth and
12:28he's only trailing Popovich Doc Rivers and Spoh among active coaches in playoff wins and
12:36Championships, you know we need to point out that he has four of those babies as well
12:40Which also puts him in a very elite group only five coaches have more than four titles
12:45On the bench including Phil and the aforementioned red hour back Popovich and Pat Riley. Yeah, and John Kundla
12:52That's the company right that's the company Popovich Riley Phil Jackson Steve Kerr
12:59I mean that that's and red hour back of course
13:02But the rotations right and you don't like young players what the rotation and you can't develop young players
13:08And then now you look at this team and think about their their rotation now
13:13You've got pods second year Quinton post rookie Guy Santos
13:18Second year, I believe your ish. Yeah, Moses Moody fourth year Jonathan Kaminga the same
13:23So more than half of your rotation is with players 25 and under. Yeah. Yep
13:29Yeah, although I think Quinton turns 25 tomorrow by the way another quick nod to to Mike Dunleavy Friday
13:36Yeah, I just started thinking about this
13:39That Moses Moody contract threatens to be one of the best contracts in the NBA, right?
13:44And I think there's a message there that I wish the 49ers and and and all organizations would would take
13:51Dude, do it early
13:54Do your contracts early?
13:56Stop waiting for people to put toes in the water or whatever, you know, the Bengals yesterday
14:03Did something that every fantasy football play?
14:07T Higgins and Jamar chase good luck ever getting an offensive lineman
14:11You just dumped 70 million dollars into two wide receivers, which I'm well on record
14:18This is not the most important position on a football field. So enjoy all your fantasy numbers
14:24They were both on the team last year with Joe Burrow. They missed the playoffs
14:28entirely so
14:30You know and oh by the way
14:32You could have had both of those players
14:35for
14:36Probably about 20 million less at least 15 million less if you had just done it last year when both of them asked for an extension
14:42Then yeah do it early do it early and that's what the Warriors did with Moses Moody
14:47they didn't do it with Kaminga and I'm
14:50Interested to see when we get to the summer how that's gonna work out because you've mentioned it before not a lot of teams
14:55with a lot of cap room to
14:57blow the Warriors out of the water with an offer and
15:01You know the Moody deal you mentioned it it hasn't even kicked in yet
15:04He's still making start a 5.8. So next year. He makes 11 and a half and it goes up a little bit from there
15:11They've got three more years of Moses Moody deal. The dude is 22 deal, right?
15:16So my deal give me that deal all day. Yep
15:20Jonathan in the city. Hi Jonathan. Thanks
15:23Hey, good afternoon guys
15:25You know speaker as the head coach I'll put him in the same category as Wardell Stephen Curry
15:32It's slightly below perfect, you know, you know, just maybe a notch below perfect and let me ask you guys
15:39I think we're all in agreement that if they're ever going to erect the first statue of Chase is gonna be Stephen Curry, right?
15:47that
15:48Yeah
15:50But who's the second it may be Draymond green it may be clay I think it's gonna be Steve Kerr
15:55Yes, he encouraged the coach. He's a statue guy
15:58Well, um Jonathan, that's a fun question. I would actually probably guess Steve Kerr just because
16:07He's probably
16:08He probably threatens to be done coaching before Draymond and clay are done playing. That'd be my guess
16:15Yeah, I might be at the same time I still well no, I think Steph and Steve are probably done two more years after this
16:23Maybe Draymond's done at that point. Don't think clay will be I mean they are a couple years younger
16:28Yeah
16:30Yeah, I mean Draymond just turned 35. Yep, and he's got what two more years after this one
16:36so he'll be 37 Steph will be 39 and
16:40You know if Steph's good and he's done I don't know if Draymond will stick around
16:45Oh, I don't know
16:47maybe not maybe not if if Steph is done and then Jimmy's contract is up and
16:52Draymond's contract is up and Steve Kerr is is up and he's done. I could see this all ending at the same time
16:58How are we feeling about Steve Kerr? Eight eight eight nine five seven nine five seventy
17:03How about Phil Moe Mike is on the line Phil Moe? What's good today?
17:07Oh
17:09Man
17:11Live and work in Chile. They shot the Lucas Alexander, man
17:14He may even celebrate for the last past year. So I had to shot him out one time man
17:19I'm trying to get like Lucas man longer than that
17:23Anyway, go ahead. Yeah, I'm joking. I'm joking anyway, though
17:32Seriously I think
17:34Steve Kerr's general manager. Somebody said I think it was Spadoni's more
17:38He was like he didn't really have a good general manager career in Phoenix
17:42I thought he did an excellent job in Phoenix. Yes shot. You picked up who who would have picked up Sean Marion with that shot?
17:50You drafted
17:52What's his name a Maurice Stoudemire now?
17:55He issues but he had about an eight-year career where he was like
17:59A
18:00whistle
18:02Antonio McDyche
18:03He was like looking like Antonio me dice before he got messed up in his knees. Do you Google that? Anyway, though?
18:11I just want to say Steve Kerr man, you know
18:14Steph Curry's a great player, right, but he makes the stupidest turnovers
18:19So like you said something a couple of seconds ago mark you was like man
18:22He's not perfect because that call kind of triggered me. I was like, he ain't perfect. Oh, you know, I mean
18:28He need to work on it's kind of like his rotations as far to me
18:32He need to work on some things, but everybody makes mistakes. Steve Kerr is a hell of a coach
18:37We brought back Don Nelson for some reason shot
18:41So we believe but who would have known Don Nelson were if Don Nelson you get two chances
18:47Come on, man
18:48You gotta give Steve her his credit his props and his kudos because it's when you're in the NBA
18:55Everybody knows everything you're managing like you're not managing talent. You're managing personality
19:01Yes, and this would deal with that is a lot. You know, I'm saying so y'all have an excellent show and real quick
19:08I don't want to change the subject of the show
19:09But I would love you guys made this a topic an owner or a player you guys feel sorry for that has not
19:16Won a championship and you can't pick Barry Bonds. Hmm
19:20Oh, I could like I could like Bay Area or all around the globe Mike all
19:25All around the globe. I mean my mind went to right now right away Fred Warner
19:31George Kittle
19:33George, I mean those are the two names that come to my like I'd have to think harder on it film
19:38Oh, thank you. Yeah, those are the first two names popped in mind right away right away
19:42You know George Kittle over there on the law. I will be back. I will be back
19:46And then he gets back and then he goes over time and you lose yeah again, those are good answers
19:53Hey Netflix, I don't know about film this an owner
19:56I can't think of an owner that my heart would go out a hard time feeling bad for owners
20:01Yeah, like even like Jed York, I'd love to see him win, but it wouldn't be I wouldn't be happy for him
20:07I'd be happy for all of us and the players and the coaches and then oh, yeah good for you Jed
20:12That's cool, but I'm not my heart doesn't break really in that way for all I would have said Peter McGowan if he hadn't won
20:20Yeah, I would have said Peter McGowan if he if he hadn't won, you know, he saved baseball in this city
20:25Sure did say baseball in this city. So I would have said that but
20:29You know that worked out pretty well as it turned out, right? Yeah, so anyway
20:36Yeah back to sort of the issue at hand
20:39You know film all says every of course everybody may we already referenced this that Steve called us and he was like, yeah
20:45I messed that up. Yeah, I'm not I'm not on somebody for making mistakes quite frankly every game
20:52I'm what's the last time you watched a warrior game where Steph never turned the ball over
20:56Like there's mistakes every night that goes to the coach to but man. He's a great coach. Good lord. He's a great coach
21:04I just don't think you can diminish what's happened
