00:00We're talking Warriors' future, Dibs thinks they're D-O-A, um, hey D, what's going on?
00:06Hey, I've just got a quick question, do we still have the same team players when we had
00:12the Dynasty Championship?
00:13No, not all of them, no.
00:14Not all of them, no.
00:15Mostly though, right?
00:16Only two of them, I think.
00:17I mean, and Kavon, if you want to throw him in there.
00:18Yeah, three.
00:19Yeah, well, because when coach says certain things, it kind of picks me up, kind of like
00:30a cyber bully kind of type, when he needs to pressure one of the players by talking
00:35to the media.
00:36Because that means they don't have no communication whatsoever.
00:39D, you're talking about Steve Kerr?
00:41Yeah!
00:42I'm just calling you out right now.
00:46But I'd love to understand, no, no, no, wait, what specifically, like, you said he's, are
00:51you talking about when he was calling out pods the other night?
00:54Yeah, just to pressure a player, like, come on, you can't talk to him directly to fix
01:00the problem.
01:01Wait, you don't think he did?
01:02D, D, let me promise you something for two reasons.
01:05One, I knew this before he said it, but two, Steve directly said it to us yesterday.
01:10He has spoken to Brandon many, many times about this very issue.
01:17And he admitted to us yesterday, he goes, the reason I did it public was to ramp up
01:21the pressure because talking to him privately, the message has clearly not gotten home yet.
01:26You have a problem with that?
01:28No, my other question, listen, everything is true what you're saying, right?
01:33So do they practice and any of our players need to be fixed or need to be worked on?
01:40Does he do that?
01:41Does he, does he do that with them?
01:43Like, you know?
01:44Yes.
01:45Do they practice?
01:46Of course.
01:47Because it seems like it's been, it's been happening for a long time.
01:50I mean, if it's a problem, then you should be fixed as a coach.
01:54D, D, do you have kids?
01:55You have kids, D?
01:56I do, I do, I do.
01:57How old are they?
01:58I mean, you know, she's turning 21.
01:59Okay.
02:00I mean, they pretty good on mine.
02:01I bet you did.
02:02I bet you did.
02:03And congrats on that.
02:04When they were growing up, did, did they do everything that you told them to do the first
02:05time?
02:06That's why you become a parent, right?
02:07So you, you kind of cushioned them as much as you got.
02:08You got to give them the knowledge when they do it.
02:09Right.
02:10But like, but sometimes, but sometimes it takes them, it takes them a bunch of time
02:11to get to the point where they're like, I'm going to do this.
02:12I'm going to do this.
02:13I'm going to do this.
02:14I'm going to do this.
02:15I'm going to do this.
02:16I'm going to do this.
02:17I'm going to do this.
02:18I'm going to do this.
02:19I'm going to do this.
02:20I'm going to do this.
02:21I'm going to do this.
02:22I'm going to do this.
02:23I'm going to do this.
02:24I'm going to do this.
02:25I'm going to do this.
02:26I'm going to do this.
02:27I'm going to do this.
02:28I'm going to do this.
02:29I'm going to do this.
02:30I'm going to do this.
02:31I'm going to do this.
02:32I'm going to do this.
02:33I'm going to do this.
02:34I'm going to do this.
02:35I'm going to do this.
02:36I'm going to do this.
02:37I'm going to do this.
02:38I'm going to do this.
02:39I'm going to do this.
02:40I'm going to do this.
02:41I'm going to do this.
02:42I'm going to do this.
02:43I'm going to do this.
02:44I'm going to do this.
02:45I'm going to do this.
02:46I'm going to do this.
02:47I'm going to do this.
02:48I'm going to do this.
02:49I'm going to do this.
02:50I'm going to do this.
02:51I'm going to do this.
02:52I'm going to do this.
02:53I'm going to do this.
02:54I'm going to do this.
02:55I'm going to do this.
02:56I'm going to do this.
02:57I'm going to do this.
02:58I'm going to do this.
02:59I'm going to do this.
03:00I'm going to do this.
03:01I'm going to do this.
03:02I'm going to do this.
03:03I'm going to do this.
03:04I'm going to do this.
03:05I'm going to do this.
03:07That's your problem.
03:08You've got to own up on it.
03:09This is your team.
03:10This is your kids.
03:11You've got to own up on it.
03:12Don't blame the player because they made a mistake.
03:13You're coaching them.
03:14You're supposed to coach them where to go.
03:15So, D, thank you so much.
03:16I very respectfully disagree with this.
03:17I think that, and again, if you're not clear on what D is kind of referring to, and I would
03:18have loved if, I mean, I've gotten sort of your reaction to this because you weren't
03:19here yesterday, but the banging on the table, I mean, I think it's a good thing.
03:20I mean, I think it's a good thing.
03:21I think it's a good thing.
03:22I think it's a good thing.
03:23I think it's a good thing.
03:24I think it's a good thing.
03:25I think it's a good thing.
03:26I think it's a good thing.
03:27I think it's a good thing.
03:28I think it's a good thing.
03:29I think it's a good thing.
03:30I think it's a good thing.
03:31I think it's a good thing.
03:32I think it's a good thing.
03:33I think it's a good thing.
03:34I think it's a good thing.
03:35I think it's a good thing.
03:36I think it's a good thing.
03:37I think it's a good thing.
03:38I think it's a good thing.
03:39I think it's a good thing.
03:40I think it's a good thing.
03:41I think it's a good thing.
03:42I think it's a good thing.
03:43I think it's a good thing.
03:44I think it's a good thing.
03:45I think it's a good thing.
03:46I think it's a good thing.
03:47I think it's a good thing.
03:48I think it's a good thing.
03:49I think it's a good thing.
03:50I think it's a good thing.
03:51I think it's a good thing.
03:52I think it's a good thing.
03:53I think it's a good thing.
03:54I think it's a good thing.
03:55I think it's a good thing.
03:56I think it's a good thing.
03:57I think it's a good thing.
03:58I think it's a good thing.
03:59I think it's a good thing.
04:00I think it's a good thing.
04:01I think it's a good thing.
04:02I think it's a good thing.
04:03I think it's a good thing.
04:04I think it's a good thing.
04:05I think it's a good thing.
04:06I think it's a good thing.
04:07I think it's a good thing.
04:08I think it's a good thing.
04:09I think it's a good thing.
04:10I think it's a good thing.
04:11I think it's a good thing.
04:12I think it's a good thing.
04:13I think it's a good thing.
04:14I think it's a good thing.
04:15I think it's a good thing.
04:16I think it's a good thing.
04:17I think it's a good thing.
04:18I think it's a good thing.
04:19I think it's a good thing.
04:20I think it's a good thing.
04:21I think it's a good thing.
04:22I think it's a good thing.
04:23I think it's a good thing.
04:24I think it's a good thing.
04:25I think it's a good thing.
04:26I think it's a good thing.
04:27I think it's a good thing.
04:28I think it's a good thing.
04:29I think it's a good thing.
04:30I think it's a good thing.
04:32He needs to be a smart player.
04:34He's one of our guys who's capable of making really good decisions.
04:38He had a lob when we were up 12 in the late second quarter that was frankly insane.
04:44It's a five on four.
04:46You just keep hitting singles, throw the ball to the open guy.
04:50He had the same play last week against Brooklyn where he tried to throw a lob over his shoulder.
04:54He cannot be that guy.
04:56And he can't foul jump shooters.
04:59So I love Brandon.
05:00He's a hell of a player.
05:01He's got a hell of a future ahead of him.
05:04But I hope he watches this clip right now of me talking because he needs to hear it.
05:08He's got to be a smart, tough, great decision maker and he's very capable of it.
05:13But that's his next step.
05:14Man, I am passionate about this.
05:16That is coaching.
05:18Yeah.
05:19That's what you do.
05:21That's not what you do if that's all you do.
05:24Correct.
05:25And that's not all he did.
05:26Absolutely not.
05:27Absolutely not.
05:28So if that's all you do, then I'm with the caller.
05:30That's not coaching.
05:31But he's obviously talked to him about it behind closed doors, near closed doors, in
05:36front of open doors, on the sideline, in the huddle, pregame, postgame.
05:41Steph did it.
05:42Draymond did it.
05:43Now you get to a point where you got to get to that next level.
05:45So here's what Steve then said to us yesterday after that press conference about the whole situation.
05:53Yeah.
05:54I mean, everything I said has already been said to Brandon.
05:57The reason I said it to the media is there's a little, you know, it puts a little pressure
06:02on him.
06:03And I never say anything that I don't think about first.
06:06So that didn't just come out of anger for the loss.
06:10That came because he needs to get the message.
06:14And the message is a really important one because he's such a good player.
06:18He's such an important player for us.
06:20But he's a typical young player, second year guy who's trying to forge his identity and
06:27figure out who he is.
06:28All young players go through this.
06:30And it's not a it's not an easy process because you have to make some mistakes to recognize
06:37who you are, what you can do, what you're capable of, and also what your team needs
06:43from you.
06:44And so we just need Brandon to speed up the process because, you know, you guys were talking
06:49about it.
06:50We've got Steph and Draymond who are Hall of Famers and still playing at a really high
06:53level, but they're older and we're trying to fit this thing together now and have a
06:57great season.
06:58So we need Brandon to take that next step.
07:00And I'm confident that he will.
07:02Yeah, the other thing that he also admitted is that he's going to handle different players
07:08different ways and that Brandon is someone who he believes can handle that.
07:13And maybe not every player can.
07:15But the coach's job is to know what button to push at what time with which person.
07:21And Steve very much felt like that was the right button to push at that time for that
07:26person.
07:27There's no way to know in this moment if that was the perfect time to do it.
07:30But he's the head coach and you're not going to hit the button the right time 100 percent
07:34of the time.
07:35Right.
07:36But his batting average is pretty good.
07:37He's pretty good.
07:38I tell you what, I trust his timing on that a lot more than anybody else who might have
07:42an opinion on it.
07:45But just from the conceptual standpoint, I firmly have no problem with Steve saying stuff
07:53like that.
07:54My goodness, he yelled at Steph Curry earlier this year.
07:57Right.
07:58And I think Pods also took to the podium after the game and he spoke about the interchange
08:03between he and Steve Kerr.
08:04And he basically said, yeah, it's good coaching and I can take it and I can handle it.
08:08And I'd love to have that.
08:10He said, I need to be better.
08:11I was like, oh my gosh, it's Brock Purdy's press conference over and over again.
08:14All over again.
08:15Yeah, let's do Bobby in Los Altos.
08:17Hi, Bobby.
08:18Thanks for calling.
08:19What's up?
08:20Hey, there's so many topics that have been discussed since I called in.
08:24So I want to say, first of all, I want to talk about the Warriors and their 600 record.
08:31But I guess the idea of super teams, because you talked about that before the break, I'm
08:35all for it.
08:37Obviously, it hurts that the Dodgers are the super team, but I don't think it's an issue.
08:41I think it's probably good for the sport.
08:43I mean, if you look at like the MLS, you know, Inter-Miami has Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets
08:49and Jordy Alba.
08:50And then there's one guy named Lionel Messi.
08:52I don't think anyone's complaining.
08:54Well, Bobby, I don't have an issue with super teams.
08:57This one, to me, that conversation was more about money and the way you go about the deferrals
09:03of all of it.
09:04Like the Warriors were a super team.
09:05I had no issue with it.
09:06I don't have an issue with super teams.
09:08I think you're right.
09:09Big brands in sports, that's great.
09:11But the idea of not having to pay for your super team until, you know, some of us are
09:18even like no longer on the planet.
09:20Like if you're doing that over and over and over again, I think there's a conversation
09:24there.
09:25That's all.
09:26I guess.
09:27I mean, it's not like the Giants are a poor team.
09:29The rule isn't just for the Dodgers.
09:31Agreed.
09:33If they can't attract talent and they can't use it.
09:35I get it.
09:36I get it.
09:37This is a Giants home, you know, whatever market.
09:40But I don't have an issue with it.
09:41And quite frankly, it looks like they're probably going to get that other young kid.
09:45I don't know.
09:46Roki something or other.
09:47Yeah, Roki Sasaki.
09:48Roki Sasaki.
09:49They're probably going to get him too, but they're going to get him for super cheap because,
09:53you know, he's too young to get a contract.
09:56Anyway, I'd like to talk about the Warriors.
09:59And I think they're a victim of first impression.
10:02You know, like obviously when they started the season, I wrote this article maybe like
10:0610 games in and it wasn't strength of schedule, but it was something like their expected win
10:11rate was the easiest of any team in the league.
10:15So, you know, it got capped off by that amazing win in Boston.
10:19And so I don't know what people thought.
10:21They were going to be like an 800 team or something.
10:23But, you know, I always thought they'd be a 600 team.
10:26And, you know, I think unless I don't know how many games are in the NBA anymore.
10:29It used to be 82.
10:30I don't know if it still is.
10:31It still is.
10:32It's still 82.
10:33It's still 82.
10:34Okay.
10:35Okay.
10:36So what is that?
10:3740?
10:38I mean, Dibs is like a human calculator, but that's like 48 wins, right?
10:39Yeah.
10:40Something like that.
10:41So depending on how you, you know, beat up on the Lee Stern conference is really going
10:45to tell you whether you're going to get above 50 or not in my mind.
10:48So the kind of where they are, and quite frankly, if we're going to say that there's two superstars
10:53and then 10 Jags or 13 Jags, then what Kermit's doing about saying, Hey, we want to play 12
10:59deep.
11:00That sounds like a pretty good experiment.
11:01I'm not sure why Wiggins became a Jag, but whatever.
11:04You know, I think it's a pretty good experiment.
11:07We're only what, 20 games in or something.
11:10There's a 600 team.
11:11I think there'll be a 600 team.
11:13But when you start off 10 and two, that's the problem.
11:16Everyone thinks that they're going to be better than they are.
11:18And I think they're exactly where they're going to be.
11:21It's unfortunate.
11:22It's a five game losing streak, but I think they're probably going to be a five seed.
11:28And, you know, between a four and a seven seed, I don't think it's anything surprising.
11:33So to say we're going to tear it down because they've lost five or we need to trade away
11:37players for a superstar.
11:38I just don't really get that.
11:40We have a really deep team.
11:43No superstars, I guess, other than, you know, I guess we'll say Curry and Draymond.
11:49So let them play this 12 deep or whatever we're calling this concept and see how it plays out.
11:55I don't know what we're going to be punting on because we're not going to make ourselves
11:59any better, quite honestly, in my opinion, for this year.
12:02I don't know.
12:03I guess that's my thought.
12:04Yeah, Bobby.
12:05Listen, I like a lot of what you're saying, Bobby.
12:08And so maybe, in other words, the wins early made us too optimistic.
12:12And I'd argue if that's the case, then the losses now are making people too pessimistic.
12:17If you want to play the math game, because they're 20 games in of an 82.
12:21So 12 times four, that's 48.
12:23But you still got two dangling games.
12:25And in theory, you would win 1.2 of those.
12:28I think that they're on pace for 49.2 wins.
12:31And you and I just made a bet about 50 wins.
12:34So if we make a bet about that, I think that suggests that we do think that 12 wins out
12:40of every 20 games sounds about right.
12:43And if that's where you end up, I do think you're going to avoid the play-in tournament.
12:48If you win 50, you should.
12:50Yeah, you win 49 or 50 games, you're going to avoid the play-in tournament.
12:53You'll be in this thing.
12:54There's a whole journey that needs to unfold here.
12:57You don't need to worry about Cleveland or Boston.
13:00You don't have to worry about them.
13:02Those teams are, like, if you get to play them in the playoffs, sweet.
13:05You made the NBA Finals.
13:07Right.
13:08You don't need to worry about that.
13:09And I don't see anybody in the West right now that is just flexing on everyone.
13:13I don't think that exists.
13:15So I just think all I'm saying, I'm not saying the Warriors are amazing.
13:18I'm saying there's a lot of routes here.
13:20There's a lot of routes how this could go the rest of the way.
13:24Yeah, but I look at all the routes that it could go.
13:27And I think, and I love the Warriors.
13:29It's my favorite team in all of sports.
13:31And I'm a Warrior fan going back 45, 50 years.
13:34I look at this team and this roster and the fact that the two most dependable
13:39or the two most important players on your team, rather,
13:42are your two oldest guys.
13:44And both of them are already dealing with injuries.
13:47And I know Draymond, the word, the breaking news,
13:50is that he should be back tomorrow and the MRI is clean.
13:53So that's good news.
13:54And Steph just has tendonitis.
13:56It's not a major injury.
13:57But I just get concerned about the two most important players being guys who
14:01were up in their mid to late 30s.
14:03Oh, you can get concerned.
14:05Oh, I am concerned.
14:06And that's totally, I don't, I'm not taking that from anyone.
14:10If you're feeling concerned about the Warriors right now,
14:14on a five-game losing streak and a game that starts here in a matter of hours
14:19and Steph and Draymond aren't playing, I think that's totally fair.
14:22I just think to then take that concern and say, you know, they're in trouble.
14:27I mean, you can think that.
14:29Oh, they're in real trouble.
14:31That's a totally fair thing to think and feel.
14:34For me, that's just projecting too far out that how it feels and looks right now
14:40is how it's going to feel and look for the rest of the year.
14:43I don't necessarily buy that.
14:45Yeah, I look at how it, you know, how it could look and feel.
14:48And I think about things always in terms of best-case scenario
14:52and worst-case scenario.
14:53And the reality is always somewhere in between.
14:56And best case is, you know, Steph and Draymond don't get hurt again
15:00and the roster continues to gel and everybody plays well
15:04and Andrew Wiggins is impactful.
15:06Then yeah, you probably will win 50 games.
15:08But for me, the worst-case scenario, the possibility of a 36,
15:14almost 37-year-old having injury issues and Draymond Green,
