00:19the Supreme Court petition filed by former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:23Presidential sister and Senator Aimee Marcos calls for a probe into the arrest and turnover
00:27of Duterte to the ICC.
00:29Malacanang says it will serve the warrant if the ICC issues one for Bato Dela Rosa.
00:34A rights group files a lawsuit blocking President Donald Trump's deportation of pro-Palestinian
00:39protesters.
00:40And, Chris Aquino says she and the doctor she was dating have broken up.
00:45Solicitor General Menardo Guevara opts out of defending the Marcos administration in
00:50the petition filed by former President Rodrigo Duterte with the Supreme Court, questioning
00:54the legality of his arrest and transfer to the International Criminal Court.
00:58Guevara's position as the Solicitor General makes him the de facto lawyer for cases filed
01:03against the government.
01:04In a message, Guevara confirms to Rappler that he filed a manifestation to recuse.
01:09The manifestation says the office of the Solicitor General cannot defend the administration because
01:14it has always taken the position that the ICC had lost jurisdiction.
01:18This concerns the first petition filed by Duterte, a last-minute relief that sought
01:22to stop the government from sending him to the Hague.
01:25The Supreme Court has already denied any immediate relief, but the case continues in its entirety
01:30and merits.
01:31It is not clear whether the Justice Department will step in in place of Guevara.
01:37Presidential sister and senator Aimee Marcos calls for a probe into the arrest of former
01:41President Rodrigo Duterte.
01:43This, after Marcos skipped out on the administration coalition's campaign sortie in Leyte in protest
01:49over Duterte's arrest.
01:51Marcos says it is, quote,
01:52"...imperative to establish whether due process was followed and to ensure that his legal
01:56rights were protected amid international scrutiny."
01:59The International Criminal Police Organization, or INTERPOL, arrested Duterte on March 11
02:04with the cooperation of the Philippine government.
02:07His arrest was a result of years of hard work by the families of Duterte's drug war victims
02:11who painstakingly documented and retold their stories.
02:15On Monday, March 17, Malacanang said it would cooperate with the Senate probe.
02:21When asked if the Philippines would follow the same process if another warrant was issued
02:25for Bato Dela Rosa, Palace Communication Undersecretary Claire Castro says in a press briefing that
02:31warrants can't be selective.
02:33Dela Rosa is the next likely subject of an arrest warrant from the ICC.
02:52Dela Rosa calls the palace's reasoning bullshit and pointed out that INTERPOL cooperation
02:57is ultimately up to the current government.
03:00Senator Bato Dela Rosa has recently shifted from confidently saying he was ready to join
03:04Rodrigo Duterte at the International Criminal Court to hoping Senate President Chiz Escudero
03:09would protect him if an arrest warrant is issued.
03:13Dela Rosa was the former police chief and the architect of the war on drugs campaign
03:17during the presidency of Duterte.
03:19Meantime, Duterte's former spokesperson, Harry Roche, says he will apply for asylum
03:24in the Netherlands where the former president is detained.
03:27He also claims that while his asylum application is still pending, he cannot be deported nor
03:31prosecuted for illegal entry.
03:36An American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee files a lawsuit claiming the Trump administration's
03:41deportation of international students and scholars who support Palestinian rights are
03:45unconstitutional.
03:47The lawsuit, filed on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of
03:51New York, seeks a temporary restraining order to block two executive orders signed by President
03:56Donald Trump early in his term.
03:58This after the arrest of a Columbia University student, Mahmoud Khalil, a 30-year-old permanent
04:03U.S. resident of Palestinian descent, whose arrest sparked protests this month.
04:08Justice Department lawyers say the U.S. government wants Khalil removed because Secretary of
04:12State Marco Rubio believes his activities or presence could harm U.S. foreign policy.
04:17On Friday, Rubio adds that the U.S. may revoke visas for more students soon.
04:22Trump vows to deport activists who participated in protests at U.S. college campuses against
04:26Israel's war in Gaza.
04:30Chris Aquino, on Sunday, March 16, shares on Instagram the painful truth that the doctor
04:35she was dating ended their relationship.
04:37Aquino says the doctor could no longer handle taking care of her and wanted the freedom
04:41to travel.
04:42The queen of all media also says she realized he did not love her.
04:46The doctor allegedly told Aquino that he left her because she was hard to love and that
04:50everything around him felt tight.
04:53The actress also reveals he would speak ill of her best friends and the doctors who have
04:57been helping her with her condition.
04:59In June 2024, Aquino introduced her new partner in an interview with OG Diaz.
05:04She did not reveal his identity but mentioned that being a doctor, he understood what she
05:08was going through medically.
05:10In the same post, she gives an update on her health with photos of her younger son Bimby
05:14carrying her, saying her weight had dropped to 36 kilograms and she could no longer walk.
05:21And that's today's wrap.
05:22I'm Cara Oliver.
