00:46 Former President Rodrigo Duterte advises his embattled friend, controversial preacher Apolo
00:51 Kibaloy to prepare for arrest unless he changes his mind about defying a Senate panel investigation
00:57 into alleged abuses suffered by his former followers.
01:00 In a late-night news conference, Duterte addresses Kibaloy, saying, "Just get yourself arrested."
01:06 He also downplays Kibaloy's criminal cases in the United States, calling them "minor
01:11 cases."
01:12 Kibaloy and two of his church associates are considered fugitives in the U.S. after being
01:16 indicted for several sex trafficking, cash smuggling, fraud, and money laundering charges.
01:22 This after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urges Kibaloy to submit himself to the Senate
01:26 panel and answer the accusations leveled at him.
01:29 "I would just advise him that just kong meron naman siyang sasabihin, if he has an opportunity
01:39 in the hearings to say his side of the story.

02:16 There are resolutions in both the House and Senate seeking to amend the economic provisions
02:20 of the present charter through a constituent assembly, but both documents differ on how
02:25 the chambers would vote, either jointly or separately.
02:28 The 24-member Senate is against voting jointly with a 300-plus-member House since senators
02:34 will essentially be powerless.
02:36 Meantime, the Commission on Elections says it sees no problem with conducting two electoral
02:41 exercises on the same day in May 2025.
02:46 The Supreme Court unanimously finds Public Attorney's Office Chief Persida Acosta guilty
02:51 of indirect contempt and grossly undignified conduct prejudicial to the administration

02:57 The SE's punishment against Acosta stems from her opposition against the conflict of interest
03:02 rule in the new lawyer's code of conduct.
03:05 The High Court finds Acosta guilty for her action falling under any improper conduct
03:10 tending to impede or degrade the administration of justice.
03:13 She also violated some provisions of the new code of conduct which requires lawyers to
03:17 respect the tribunals and submit grievances through appropriate remedy.
03:21 She is also found to have violated the rules on the responsible use of social media.
03:26 Acosta is ordered to pay P30,000 for indirect contempt and P150,000 for grossly undignified
03:33 conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice.
03:36 The Supreme Court also warrants Acosta of more severe punishments should she repeat
03:41 the same or similar offenses.
03:45 Senate records show Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is now the Senate's top absentee.
03:51 Former Senator Manny Pacquiao previously held the record of having the most absences as
03:55 a member of the upper chamber.
03:57 Senate records show Cayetano only attended 36 of the 54 regular sessions from July 24,
04:03 2023 to February 21, 2024.
04:07 In 2017, he also had the most number of absences as Senator, attending only 31 sessions from
04:13 July 25, 2016 to May 31, 2017.
04:17 Rappler reached out to Cayetano's office for comment but they have yet to respond as of
04:21 this posting.
04:22 Meanwhile, these 12 Senators tally perfect attendance as of February 2024.
04:27 Zubiri has had perfect attendance since first being elected into the House of Representatives
04:32 in 1998.
04:36 The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry or IFPI names K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN's
04:42 FML 2023's biggest-selling album globally.
04:45 SEVENTEEN tops IFPI's chart for the first time with five of the chart's top 10 albums
04:50 being by South Korean acts.
