00:00Derek, you have survived the echelons. How do you feel at the start of the Queen stage?
00:06I feel good. Yesterday was a nice break from the rain and it was a little bit stressful after the day before with the big splits, but the legs are holding up okay.
00:19Fourth on GC, do you think you can move up?
00:22It's so hard to tell because I think everyone is looking at Ghana and seeing how he will do today.
00:28It's only one big climb and you never know with him. He's not exactly a pure climber, but you never know what he can pull out.
00:35The goal is to move up, but you never know.
00:39Is Ghana the number one target for moving up?
00:42I think everyone that is a more classic GC rider is looking at Ghana and saying how will he do.
00:50He's 80 plus kilos, but again, it's Ghana and Italy and he's been riding fantastically, so we'll just have to see how it plays out.
00:59Juan, do you have to make the race hard to beat Filippo Ganna?
01:04I think it's going to be hard already without us making it or not.
01:09Filippo has been amazing all week. He's shown he's super strong and I hope today that doesn't fit him so well that he can finally drop.
01:20What do you make of all the other adversaries? Because it's not only you and Filippo Ganna.
01:25No, there's very strong riders, but we've had stages where it was more difficult for GC riders to show up and it was more just surviving due to the weather conditions and the general conditions of the race.
01:38But I think today we'll have a hard battle with many riders up there.
01:41On paper, is that one part of the climb where you can make a difference?
01:46The climb is quite steady, it's always quite hard. There is a section in the middle which is a bit harder.
01:53But yeah, I think we'll just have to try to arrive there with legs and see what we can do.
01:59Filippo, one week ago would you have imagined yourself in the leader's jersey at the start of the Queen's stage?
02:07For sure not. I come here just for an amazing TT. We work a lot and now we are here to defend the jersey.
02:18Today could be one of the hardest days of my life. We try to defend, but I know it's quite hard and impossible.
02:28But 100% I will arrive completely there in the finish line to try to defend everything.
02:36Do you feel the pressure or is it just a bonus if you retain the jersey?
02:40At the moment I win. I think for my weight, for my body, for my teammates, we will do everything to arrive here with the jersey.
02:51We try to be present at every stage, we try to win. We do everything right, we don't make any mistakes.
02:59Today is the last stage, we can be happy wherever, but we are happy to defend and to give a good result to the team and an important jersey.
03:12You have survived the bad weather and you are in the top 10 at the start of what is probably your favourite stage, isn't it?
03:19Well, it's been a really tough week for all of us, but the team has done an incredible job.
03:25Obviously the weather was not really good, but if we compare with other races, we can be lucky.
03:30Looking at Paris-Nice for example, we survived quite well and today is a really important stage.
03:36Obviously the focus of the team is Tom. Even if he is now behind, he has a really good chance to jump into the podium and we will support him as much as we can.
03:45He said yesterday that he wants to win today's stage.
03:49Yes, of course. He said that because he can. We believe this.
03:55Obviously the other contenders are really strong as well, like Ayuso or some other names, but he showed that he can win and we will go for it today.
04:05You have named Ayuso. Do you have the feeling that he is the strongest climber at the moment?
04:10Well, he is in the best position because he did an incredible TT. In the end, he just needs to defend his position to win the GC,
04:18but we will try our best to win the stage and to be as best as we can on the GC.
04:25Is it a new race today?
04:28Yes, I think it can be a good opportunity to shuffle the GC around.
04:34It's been a really hard race so far. Maybe not in terms of the course on paper, but the way it's been raced and also the conditions have made it a really tough race so far.
04:48But I think today will be a proper GC test.
04:52It's an unprecedented climb. What does it change?
04:55What's that?
04:56What does it change? You are not used to climb that one and you haven't seen any video or anything because there was no race there before.
05:02No, it's a new one. I've never seen it, but it looks really tough.
05:08Some really steep sections, maybe a bit of tailwind also on the steep parts, so it can be really hard, I think.
05:16How does Philippe Brugana look like and the others?
05:21He's had an exceptional race. I think he's in really good form.
05:27Big chapeau to him for how he's been so far. Super strong.
05:34Let's see what we can do today. I'm pretty keen for it, pretty excited.
05:42You're third at the start of the Queen's stage. Are you happy tonight if you are still third?
05:48Yeah, I think yes, because about what I saw these days, the contenders are really, really strong.
05:56Yuso is also super strong. So I think to finish in third place tonight, I'm sure I will be happy.
06:05Is it a surprise to still have Philippe Brugana as race leader? Is he like the lighthouse today?
06:13Sincerely, for the moment, it's not a super surprise, because the stage was super, super hard for him.
06:22For sure, today is the hardest stage for him. If he wants to maintain the lead, he has to do a really, really super performance today.
06:36Do you know where you can make a difference in this unknown climb?
06:42For sure, after the first kilometre of the last climb, in the hardest part, that is where the others try to make some moves.
