00:00Malacañang denied the alleged state kidnapping that happened to former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:06In spite of the tragedy, they ensured the safety and well-being of the former president.
00:11Clazel Cardilla of PTD Manila is back.
00:16There was no kidnapping in the arrest and deportation of former President Rodrigo Duterte in the Netherlands last night.
00:23That is the answer of Malacañang in front of Vice President Sara Duterte,
00:28that the alleged state kidnapping happened to her father,
00:32who was sent to The Hague to face the case of Crimes Against Humanity,
00:36which was filed by the International Criminal Court,
00:39in connection with Duterte's bloody fight against drugs,
00:43while he was sitting as a former president,
00:45and he was an ex-judicial killing stone mayor in Davao City.
00:49According to Palacio, the kidnapping was forced by an unauthorized authority.
00:54So how can it be a kidnapping if Duterte has a warrant of arrest in the ICC?
01:00It was issued by an authority, by the court.
01:06If there is an issuance of any order from the court, we have to comply,
01:12especially with what happened to us through Interpol.
01:16So I don't see any kidnapping. We have complete papers.
01:20The judge asked for help from the International Criminal Police Organization,
01:24where the Philippines is a member and has an obligation.
01:28Malacañang assured that the former president underwent a standard operating procedure,
01:33to avoid being exposed to the condition of Duterte.
01:36She treated the former president well.
01:39She has a lawyer with her, as well as security personnel and a nurse,
01:43to examine his condition.
01:45Malacañang argued that Duterte's arrest was a result of the refusal of the ICC's notice.
01:53They were given one year to act on the alleged complaints,
01:59but there was no action.
02:01If there was a lack of action, and they were told that they were not given due process,
02:06they themselves turned away from their right to hear the prosecutor.
02:13Despite the expected confrontation with the ICC,
02:16the palace assured that the other victim of Duterte's war on drugs could still file a complaint.
02:23There's no waiver yet of the right of the state to still run after him if there are other complainants in the country.
02:32It just so happened that there is already a pending case before the ICC,
02:37and we are just complying and enforcing.
02:40Malacañang first said that she will ensure peace and order,
02:45so she urged the public to be critical of Duterte's case.
02:49This is not just a made-up story.
02:54There are victims.
02:57This is not a case of planting evidence.
03:00The case did not come from the Philippines.
03:04This case is pending in the ICC.
03:08What will be their reason to urge the people to rise up against the government
03:15while the government is enforcing the law?
