00:00For some senators and congressmen,

00:02the former President Rodrigo Duterte had a chance

00:06to face accusations against him about extrajudicial killings

00:10after he was arrested today.

00:12This is what Daniel Manalastas reported.

00:17For the former Senator Laila de Lima,

00:19who was imprisoned during the administration of the former President Rodrigo Duterte,

00:24it was very personal for her to talk to him after the former President was arrested,

00:29where the International Criminal Court was held.

00:31Now is the time for the former President to answer,

00:35not to her, but to the victims and their families.

00:39This is deeply personal for me.

00:42For almost seven years, I was imprisoned on fabricated charges,

00:47accused of crimes I did not commit,

00:51all because I dared to speak out against Duterte's drug war.

00:56To those who have fought this long and difficult fight,

01:00your voices mattered.

01:02Your courage mattered.

01:04And today, the pursuit of justice continues.

01:09Former Senator Antonio Trillanes was reminded in 2017

01:13that Magdalo will file a case against Duterte in the ICC.

01:17And after eight years, finally,

01:20Añay Verdugo was arrested.

01:22For Senator Risa Honteveros,

01:24the day has come that the families of thousands of Filipinos are waiting for,

01:29that Añay was killed in the bloody fight of the former President.

01:33But this is just the beginning of the pursuit of justice

01:36to all officials and government officials

01:39who are responsible for the murder of Añay,

01:41innocent and unarmed.

01:44Senate President Pro Tempore Ginggoy Estrada

01:48called on the Filipinos to remain calm

01:50while the legal process is underway.

01:53He said to avoid joining any violence,

01:56spreading misinformation,

01:58and any steps to make the situation worse.

02:01Some congressmen,

02:03insisted that the arrest of Duterte is just a proof

02:07that no one is above the law.

02:10The world is round.

02:12And sooner or later,

02:14we will all have to face justice,

02:16face the music.

02:20We know how you feel.

02:22And here in the House of Representatives,

02:25we are not afraid

02:27to call on the victims of EJK

02:30to use force.
