00:00This is Awang. This is Awang.
00:06KKU has a strong spirit.
00:10If he comes in a bad condition, he can't get up.
00:14He only needs a week to look at his other friends,
00:18play, eat, he will get up.
00:21He will get up and join his friends.
00:25Since 2022, Baharim Abu Bakar and his wife,
00:29Nurhanaria Wati Muhammad Najib,
00:31have opened their home and hearts to cats that are paralyzed.
00:36Calling their home Rumah Katsumi,
00:39there are 27 paralyzed cats that are thriving under the couple's love and care.
00:45Describing them as her children,
00:48Nurhanaria Wati, better known as Wati,
00:51reveals that these cats have come a long way from their harrowing past.
01:16During FMT Lifestyle's visit,
01:18it was clear just how happy these cats are.
01:21And Wati shares what she believes is the secret behind this.
01:49Wati is responsible for the cats' daily care,
01:52which includes feeding, changing their diapers,
01:55and administering medication,
01:57while Baharim handles the buying of food,
01:59cat supplies, and visits to the vet.
02:02Wati shares that she changes the cats' diapers
02:05about four to five times a day.
02:08She also clothes them to prevent them from removing the diapers.
02:18When Wati was a kitten,
02:21the vet took care of her.
02:24But since she was always held in a cage,
02:27they didn't like it and offered to take care of her.
02:30So I took her.
02:31If you look at social media,
02:33this is the racing cat that always drifts,
02:35hits her friends,
02:36because her legs are stiff.
02:38So she hits all her friends.
02:40She rarely gets sick.
02:42She's very happy.
02:44She likes to pet her friends.
02:46So we call her the leader.
02:51Her name is Ochi.
02:53She was abandoned by the vet.
02:56She was paralyzed.
02:58She only sleeps.
03:00She sleeps, gets up to eat and drink,
03:02and then goes back to sleep.
03:05According to Wati,
03:06their biggest challenge is the cost of caring for these cats.
03:10The couple spends around RM1,200 a week
03:14on food and pet supplies.
03:16And when veterinary care is needed,
03:18this cost escalates.
03:20She also admits that it's heartbreaking
03:23when one of the cats passes away.
03:25But the others give her the strength to carry on.
03:29I love them so much.
03:31I'm willing to do anything for my children.
03:33Before that, I told my children,
03:35I'm sorry.
03:36I'm sorry if you see me spending more time with my children
03:40because they don't have anyone.
03:46I think everything I sacrifice is for my children's health.
03:51That's all I want.
