00:00So I've been asked to do a programme about first-class travel and I wasn't sure whether
00:06it was for me. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to put my name to it. It sounded like a lot
00:09of hard work. But I've done it and I think I've cracked it. Look at this!
00:18More and more of us are splashing out on once-in-a-lifetime trips. And travel companies can't wait to
00:25have us.
00:26Now that's more like it.
00:29But is it worth the added expense?
00:31And this is totally unlimited.
00:34Yes.
00:35And how do you bag yourself a bargain?
00:37Am I allowed to keep all these?
00:39Yeah.
00:40They're mine.
00:41Luckily, I'm prepared to get out there and find out exactly what you can get for your
00:46cash.
00:47This is what $20,000 a night gets you.
00:49I'll be experiencing the opulent hedonism of the Middle East.
00:53It's one of the best breakfasts I've ever seen in my life.
00:56Immersing myself in first-class island life in the Caribbean.
01:00This is all yours as well.
01:04Exploring a new wave of nature-loving luxury travel in the Nordics.
01:09Hopping on a private jet to Paris.
01:13And indulging in the glamour of Hong Kong.
01:16This is the bathroom of dreams.
01:19To reveal how you can do it too.
01:22So come with me on the trip of a lifetime.
01:25Because we're all getting upgraded.
01:28This is so amazing.
01:35Tonight, we're going to one of the greatest beaches I have ever seen.
01:39Absolutely breathtaking.
01:42Which I got to after a flight on a plane with its own bar.
01:47It's amazing. It's like going to the local.
01:50And where I rode a horse into the sea.
01:53Oh, what good horses.
01:56After weathering a tropical downpour.
02:00It's all part of the adventure.
02:03And discovering an amazing way to hire a private jet for less than half the normal cost.
02:10This is like billionaire territory, isn't it, really?
02:14Look at his little tail.
02:16As well as finding a host of incredible creatures on land and sea.
02:22It's really, really special.
02:24So join me on my grenadine adventure.
02:30When it gets cold and dark in Britain, the super rich get themselves over to the Caribbean.
02:36For arguably the world's best winter sun.
02:39And that's why I'm at Heathrow Airport.
02:42It's 8am and I'm about to fly long haul with Virgin Airways.
02:47Thank you very much.
02:50The airline's upper class has a completely separate entrance at Terminal 3.
02:56And I'm about to jet off to the sun-kissed shores of Grenada in the Caribbean.
03:01One of the most popular destinations for British tourists to go.
03:06Particularly over the winter for winter sun is the Caribbean.
03:10It's where you go to forget about British weather.
03:13So you go to forget about work.
03:15You lie in a beautiful golden sand and you go swimming in the blue sea.
03:19So it's always been about indulgence.
03:24I won't have to wait to sample luxury.
03:27Virgin's executive lounge is called the Clubhouse.
03:30And it's as friendly as it is exclusive.
03:33Thank you. Thank you very much. Very good. Thank you.
03:36Come on through. Make sure you rent.
03:37Thank you very much.
03:42So as not to disturb other passengers.
03:44We're using video diary style cameras.
03:48One person who is happy to be on camera is Wendy.
03:51Apparently she's primed to meet my every need.
03:54I'm your experience executive so you have an amazing experience with me.
03:59An experience executive?
04:01So you give everyone a highly prized experience.
04:05I hope I do, yes.
04:08There's a plethora of food and drink on offer.
04:13And to help you work up an appetite.
04:15It's got his own gym.
04:17This is amazing.
04:20You can come here and do yoga and do flicks.
04:24I love it.
04:25This is such a good idea.
04:28And you can just go for a workout.
04:31Experience executive Wendy suggests I lift something a little lighter.
04:37And like the champagne, the food is unlimited.
04:41So this is my breakfast. I've got pancakes and yogurt.
04:46I have got trout straight from a lock.
04:51And I have got fruit salad.
04:54And I've got a salad.
04:57And I have got fruit salad.
05:00It just doesn't stop coming.
05:03You're only allowed in the clubhouse for up to three hours before your flight.
05:07But I could easily spend all day in here.
05:13That's where I'm flying. I don't want to leave.
05:21My ticket costs over £3,000.
05:24But you might be able to shave up to 20% of the price of the flight if you think ahead.
05:30You want to book about four to three months in advance.
05:33That's when you're going to get the best price.
05:35Before that it's more expensive and after that it's going to get more expensive as well.
05:39I'd say travelling in bulk is in like seven days or fourteen days.
05:43Sometimes if you manoeuvre it to ten days, that can affect the price.
05:47It's 10.45am and while over five million passengers travel with this airline every year.
05:54Only a handful get to turn left.
06:07It's an eleven hour journey from London to Grenada.
06:10So comfort is key.
06:12And by the looks of it, that won't be a problem in my personal cabin space.
06:18Just sat down after the champagne to get a goody bag.
06:21I'm really looking forward to this flight.
06:23Eleven hours of still bliss and pure relaxation.
06:33And you've just got unlimited drinks and unlimited food.
06:37It's like heaven.
06:40Oh look, he's coming again. Look at all this.
06:43When you get bored of your seat, step out of your seat and you go to the bar.
06:49But even in upper class, it's possible to have too much of a good thing.
06:56You've got to pace yourself, haven't you?
06:58That's the thing. When you've got a bar in the air, unlimited, someone like me really needs to pace myself.
07:07People also don't realise one drink on the ground is two drinks in the air.
07:11So before you know it, they're having a real good party.
07:15That can go either way sometimes.
07:17For some reason, people always want to join the Mile High Club.
07:20And there's been a few times when we've had people who meet at the upper class bar,
07:25sometimes celebrities, going off into the bathroom with people that aren't always their partners.
07:34Even though passengers pay thousands for the privilege of a seat in this cabin,
07:38I'd never have guessed it could be such a sociable experience.
07:42It's amazing. It's like going to the local.
07:44And because I've met half of the cabin, it's like we're all friends now.
07:47It's really weird. It feels like you're in your own little village, but on a flight.
07:54People think that in first class, it's just VIPs and celebrities, but it isn't.
07:59My personal favourite airline is Virgin because I don't want a stuffy flight.
08:04I don't want to be really formally served.
08:06I just love how friendly the Virgin team is.
08:09You can even order high-end meals at the bar,
08:12which come with cute little aircraft salt and pepper pots that you're allowed to keep.
08:20Time to get some shut-eye.
08:23This is when the magic happens.
08:27My seat becomes a bed at the push of a button.
08:31Oh, isn't that clever?
08:34Plus, I get a flight warning.
08:37Plus, I get a flight wardrobe space.
08:41And a set of bedclothes.
08:44So not only do they give you a long-dive bed, they give you the pyjamas to go to bed in.
08:50It's so good.
08:53Not only do I get to relax in them for a few hours, I can take them in.
08:59The thing that everyone gets excited about is their pyjamas.
09:02There's something about having a little pair of pyjamas given to you
09:05that you feel like you're back at school camp or something.
09:08People wear them everywhere.
09:09I, funnily enough, saw somebody in an airport the other day
09:12who was still wearing a lounge suit from the aircraft,
09:16just walking around a terminal building.
09:18So I think some people absolutely love that.
09:21How lovely is this, though, to be able to do this?
09:24Just have a nice chill on a flight.
09:26Let down.
09:27Gorge.
09:28Best day ever.
09:42After a good sleep and a quick touchdown in Barbados,
09:45we arrive in Grenada, one of the smallest islands in the Caribbean.
09:51But it's a first-class destination, and don't take my word for it.
09:55Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Morgan Freeman all have homes here.
10:03It's only the size of the Isle of Wight,
10:05but it's blessed with mountain-topped rainforests,
10:08sandy beaches and a number of large high-end resorts.
10:13But I'm looking for more laid-back luxury.
10:20Welcome! Oh, my gosh!
10:22Thank you. Thank you very much.
10:24Welcome to 473.
10:26Jennifer Solomon runs this boutique luxury resort.
10:30It's absolutely gorgeous.
10:31Just walking in the gates there and it felt like you were in the rainforest.
10:34That was the idea.
10:35That was it.
10:36So we kind of make you feel like you're kind of in the rainforest
10:39and then you come out to this amazing view.
10:41So come and let me show you around. Thank you.
10:45473, named after the dialling code for Grenada,
10:48has just nine distinct private residents
10:51hidden amongst the palm trees that surround this 70-foot infinity pool.
10:59We can serve you drinks from over there
11:01and that's just kind of where you get to chill out, look over the sea,
11:05listen to the wind through the trees, listen to the birds.
11:09It really does feel like you're away from everything here.
11:12Yeah, it feels like, whew, everything's just lifted, gone. Lovely.
11:15In the Caribbean, it doesn't have to be overstated luxury.
11:19That quiet beach covered in palm trees,
11:21you don't need a gold glitzy villa.
11:23You can have something that's more chill,
11:26more white tones, more relaxed vibes,
11:29and it feels as luxurious as something that is more over the top
11:33in other destinations.
11:35An ocean villa at high season here
11:37could set you back nearly £1,000 a night.
11:40Although, if you come off season and opt for a smaller villa,
11:44you'll pay around £370 a night.
11:47But this instant relaxation feels worth every penny.
11:51Are you ready?
11:52As ready as I'll ever be, you might as well.
11:55Come on through.
11:56Oh, lovely.
11:57So, this is all yours.
12:01And you know you talked about that view from the swimming pool?
12:04Yeah.
12:05It's kind of replicated, just for you.
12:07It feels like you're sort of on water, doesn't it?
12:10Yeah, that's exactly what we were trying to go for.
12:13This villa spans well over 1,000 square feet.
12:18So, the moon rises, so you get to see the moon.
12:21If our turtles come by, you get to see our turtles.
12:25Oh, wow.
12:27This is really special.
12:29This is really something else.
12:31So, this is your bathroom.
12:34But through here...
12:38..you have your own outside shower.
12:40Completely private, of course.
12:42It's like showering in a rainforest.
12:44There you go. Yeah.
12:46An outside shower is just one of those little luxury extras
12:49that make a difference.
12:53Oh, look at this.
12:55So, this is all yours as well.
12:58So, come on down.
13:00So, you have your own pool. We have the big pool.
13:02But, you know, you might want your own little pool.
13:04So, if the sea wasn't enough, you've got your own private pool there.
13:07Yeah. Isn't it lovely?
13:09Cos you can just, you know, sunbathe in the bath.
13:11That's what we like.
13:13I'm not going to say a word and nobody will be watching, that's for sure.
13:16I'm not saying I'm going to be doing it, but I might be doing it.
13:19And so then we have your own, like, sort of whole dining area.
13:22The chef will come down and cook for you.
13:25Or you can order food and have it by the pool.
13:28It feels incredibly private,
13:30but I soon find out that I am not the only one sharing these facilities.
13:36Oh, my goodness, look at him!
13:39Look at his colours.
13:43Hello.
13:45This is a pseudothinx tetreo,
13:48also known as a frangipani hornworm caterpillar.
13:51And I'm later told it can bite.
13:54But there's something about this caterpillar
13:57that reminds me of a crazy little trip to Paris I took recently,
14:02when I jumped on a private jet using a clever little trip
14:06to buy some of the world's most delicious cakes.
14:10I'll tell you about it in a couple of minutes.
14:16MUSIC
14:25I am experiencing a life of luxury on the Caribbean island of Grenada.
14:30Oh, my goodness, look at him!
14:33Look at his colours.
14:35But a recent encounter with the local wildlife
14:38has reminded me of another luxury trip I recently took.
14:43Not long ago, I was really craving a macaroon,
14:46and I've been told some of the best of these almondy treats
14:50can be found at Laduree's flagship store in Paris.
14:54And I've heard of a way to get there by none other than private jets,
14:59but at a fraction of the normal price.
15:04If you're looking to book the ultimate romantic trip
15:07and you really want to splash out and wow your partner,
15:11I would thoroughly recommend jumping on a private jet
15:14and heading over to Paris.
15:16I'd love to travel in a private jet,
15:18and I perceive one of the big advantages,
15:20there being less aggravation, less stress.
15:23Why? Because you don't have to travel with everyone else,
15:26you don't have to go through the same channels as everybody else.
15:30You have a very different journey and a very different experience.
15:34This is the private jet terminal at Luton Airport.
15:38Behind these doors, there's a whole new world of luxury travel.
15:44Wow! This is amazing!
15:46Hello, George! Welcome! How are you?
15:48I'm really well.
15:50This is lovely, isn't it?
15:52George Galanopoulos is the CEO of Lux Aviation UK.
15:56He runs a fleet of over 18 private jets,
15:59and he's invited me into a very special VIP lounge.
16:04What can we get you before the flight?
16:07What do you do?
16:08Whatever you like.
16:10The world of private jets is very different to the world of commercial airlines.
16:15There's barely any check-in.
16:17There's no queuing for security.
16:20There's no backdrop.
16:22All you need is your passport.
16:24But that might be a bit of a problem for me.
16:27I'm sat here now and I have forgotten my passport.
16:30Sorry, guys.
16:31As long as you can get your passport here at some point,
16:34we go when you're ready.
16:36So you've delayed the actual aeroplane just for me?
16:40Well, it's your aircraft for today.
16:44That feels so good!
16:47Apparently, my passport can be delivered to me on the plane,
16:51so George and I head to the jet.
16:55Those were the good old days.
16:57Not anymore.
16:58Got George on my side now.
17:02So that's your jet, George?
17:04That's the one.
17:06This global 6,000 jets of Paris would set you back an eye-watering £18,000.
17:13But it is possible to fly private jet for a fraction of the advertised price.
17:21The reason you could get these private jets at this kind of discounted price
17:25is because a lot of private jets are doing empty-leg flights.
17:29So, for example, if the owner of the private jet
17:32wanted to get from London to Monaco,
17:34but then the jet was booked to do an Ibiza to, I don't know, Hong Kong flight later,
17:40then what would happen is that empty leg from Monaco to Ibiza would be free.
17:47Luckily for me, George's jet needs to collect clients in Paris,
17:51so I'm hopping on board this empty-leg flight,
17:53which costs half of the normal price.
17:56Right, so what do you think?
17:58This is absolutely beautiful, George. It's gorgeous.
18:02George makes sure the flight is completely bespoke to the passenger's exact needs.
18:08So we've got some cannabis and champagne and some flowers.
18:12So this is like a lovely comfy little lounge space
18:15just in case you wanted to chill out a little bit more.
18:18And if you're in need of a lie-down, the sofas pull out to make beds.
18:23But it's the smallest room that I want to investigate.
18:26This is what a bathroom looks like on your own private jet.
18:32Oh, my God, that's my favourite perfume!
18:35Very, very expensive, that one.
18:40Molton Browne, look at all these freebies.
18:44And even here, the service couldn't be more personal.
18:49Even if you're sat on this loo, which is leather,
18:52I mean, have you ever seen a leather loo in your life?
18:54Look at that. It's a leather loo.
18:57You can call for assistance here.
19:00It's the little things, isn't it?
19:03Throughout the cabin, there's posh fabrics and hints of gold.
19:07Even the seats are something else.
19:12Oh, my God, you can go anywhere.
19:13You can turn around if you want, swing around if you like.
19:17God, I feel like I'm on The Voice.
19:19That is cool.
19:20As I get into the swing of things, we head to the skies,
19:23flying from London to Paris.
19:30Private jet passengers are literally high flyers.
19:34These planes may go thousands of feet higher than commercial airlines,
19:38which means less turbulence and even more comfort.
19:46Even the blinds are lovely.
19:48Even the blinds are lovely, aren't they?
19:51It's only a 45-minute hop across the channel,
19:54but I've still got time for a quick bite.
19:59Oh, my goodness.
20:01That looks lovely.
20:04Thank you very much.
20:06Look how cute that is.
20:08George.
20:12Citrus marinated cured salmon salad.
20:16And it is so cute.
20:19And it's all washed down with the finest champagne.
20:24Cheers, George.
20:28To me, a private jet is the pinnacle of travel.
20:32This is like billionaire territory, isn't it, really?
20:35It's 4.30pm and I arrive at Paris La Bourget Airport.
20:40It's so exclusive, I've never even heard of it.
20:44I'm whisked off the plane and into a luxurious private chauffeur-driven car
20:49headed for central Paris,
20:51and apparently the home of some of the best macaroons in the world.
20:58As well as the city of love, Paris is known as the city of life,
21:03and approaching the centre, I can see why.
21:07Wow, that is beautiful.
21:10That is absolutely beautiful.
21:14But my mission is to the world-famous Ladurée Patisseries flagship store,
21:21which is situated on the Champs-Élysées.
21:25It is beautiful.
21:27One of the most beautiful places I've ever been.
21:29This shop is Parisian, designer-chic at its finest.
21:34There's deserves, and then there's deserves.
21:38These are like a work of art, and so is the place.
21:41An online order of 16 of these macaroons could cost around £60,
21:46but buying in store, they're significantly cheaper.
21:50So I'm not holding back.
21:52Now I've flown all the way from England on a private jet to eat these desserts,
21:57so don't think I've come here and I'm going to do things in-house, alright?
22:01There are more than a dozen different flavours to choose from,
22:04and one in particular has caught my eye.
22:07Oh, can I have one of those?
22:08It's raspberry, rose and lychee, coated with white chocolate.
22:12Lovely! I'll have two of those, that'd be great.
22:15You can keep the macaroons for four days in the fridge and 12 hours outside.
22:19Is that okay?
22:21I won't need to keep them for four days.
22:23They're going to be gone in about five minutes.
22:27Upstairs takes things to another level,
22:30with one of the most sought-after tea rooms in Paris,
22:33the perfect setting for my perfectly packaged first-class treat.
22:37Oh my God, look at the beauty of that.
22:41It tells you it tastes the part.
22:46Look at that.
22:48It's like a coated macaroon.
22:50It's a raspberry.
22:57What happened there then?
23:01Oh my God.
23:03Oh my God.
23:05It's like a whole macaroon in one.
23:10That is serious.
23:12It tastes like luxury on your tongue.
23:17That is definitely worth the flight.
23:21Flying by private jet to Paris just to sample
23:24the world's most famous Ladurée macaroons in their flagship store
23:28may be the ultimate first-class travel indulgence,
23:31but I can't leave this city without taking in its most celebrated landmark.
23:39Ah, this is magic.
23:42We're good.
23:45We are so lucky we got here at that time.
23:47On the hour, every hour, it all glistens up.
23:50We got here just in the nick of time.
23:53This is the city of light,
23:56the city of love,
23:58and no doubt about it,
24:00the city of luxury.
24:08But because I took an empty-leg flight out to Paris,
24:11it's easy jet back home for me.
24:17Oh, right.
24:19Breakfast time.
24:21You know you've had too many French macaroons
24:23when caterpillars in the Caribbean start reminding you of them.
24:27Oh, another one.
24:30Coming up, my time in the Caribbean continues.
24:33I get a taste for beach life.
24:36Perfect.
24:38Get caught up in a storm.
24:40Oh, my God, this is biblical. Quick!
24:43And horse around in the sea.
24:47Oh, what good horses.
25:01It's 8 a.m. and my second day on the Caribbean island of Grenada,
25:06and I'm starting with a dip in my own private pool.
25:10This is the stuff that some people only dream about doing,
25:13and I'm here living it.
25:15I just feel so incredibly blessed.
25:18But not everyone is enjoying the pool as much as I am.
25:24Just found a dead frog.
25:26I was really thanking the universe for my amazing, luxurious life,
25:30and I found a dead frog.
25:32He's totally gone, isn't he?
25:34I can't save him.
25:36You just don't never know when your life's over.
25:38It's come today, come tomorrow.
25:41That's why you've got to do every single experience given to you.
25:44Don't ever let an opportunity pass you by,
25:47because you could be like this.
25:49It's totally croaked it.
25:51So, of course, when they offered me the opportunity
25:54to have a massage before breakfast,
25:56I couldn't turn them down.
25:57The poor dead frog had got me feeling a little stressed.
26:00Any excuse, eh?
26:03But I'll tell you what's not luxurious.
26:05This camera shot.
26:07This is...
26:09I just don't feel like you're getting me from my best side there.
26:14Masseuse Ninki has come out to my villa
26:17to give me a personalised treatment.
26:21I'm not going to lie.
26:23I'm probably very naughty.
26:24Oh, yeah, I'm already feeling the tension.
26:26Really?
26:28Yeah, I know when you're done, you're going to be floating.
26:30It's really good.
26:32Right.
26:34Oh, it's really good.
26:36Does every guest typically get a massage?
26:39Staying in somewhere so luxurious and so lush,
26:42this is a must to get a massage.
26:44It's a must.
26:46It completes your trip.
26:48My massage is costing around £80
26:51and is one luxury that's not included in the price.
26:54It's not included in my resort booking.
26:57There's that old saying,
26:59you've got to look after your mind and your body and your soul,
27:02and this place seems to offer it all.
27:08And I'm certainly making the most of my time here in Grenada.
27:12The Caribbean may traditionally be known as the playground of the super-rich,
27:16but many people are now choosing understated, quieter resorts like this one
27:21over flashier hotels and larger islands.
27:24In the Caribbean, I think the smaller islands,
27:26the ones that are less populated, are definitely the more luxurious
27:29because they've got the time and the space to give you attention.
27:32You can find a more off-the-beaten-path experience in places like Grenada.
27:37They've got real exclusive resorts now
27:39where they'll be in the middle of nowhere,
27:42they'll be very small, so small and intimate places.
27:46Grenada is also home to some of the best beaches in the world,
27:51and amazingly, none of them are private,
27:54so you can take a stroll on any beach you choose.
27:59The scenery is absolutely breathtaking,
28:02and all I can think right now is,
28:04do we go to heaven, or are we already there?
28:07Because this is paradise.
28:09It may be paradise,
28:11but with an average temperature of 25 degrees centigrade,
28:15it's also hot.
28:17Thank goodness for my boutique service,
28:20the hotel's duty manager, Solomon,
28:22has popped down to prepare my coconut.
28:25Oh, thank you, sir.
28:27You're so welcome.
28:29Lovely.
28:31Are you loving it?
28:33Yes.
28:34It's so big.
28:38Are you loving it?
28:40That is so refreshing.
28:42Everybody looks so young here.
28:44Do you think it's the coconut water?
28:46Definitely.
28:48Is that what it is?
28:50I need 20 of them.
28:52I feel so refreshed already.
28:54Do I look different?
28:56I feel different.
28:58And breakfast looks equally as life-enhancing.
29:01Oh, look at that.
29:02Proper Caribbean breakfast.
29:04Saltfish, omelette, plantain.
29:08Gorgeous.
29:10There's a huge trend in the travel industry at the moment,
29:13which is to do with sustainable travel,
29:16and also eco-friendly travelling.
29:18And if you're eating food that isn't from that place,
29:21that food has to get there as well,
29:23so that food has a carbon footprint.
29:25That's what a lot of clients are looking for now,
29:27is they want that luxury,
29:29but they don't want it to affect the environment.
29:30They want to eat the local food
29:32and make the most of the fact that you're in the Caribbean,
29:34rather than just being in a nice place that could be anywhere.
29:37The question is, where do I start?
29:40I'm going to try this saltfish.
29:42Saltfish is whitefish that has been cured in salt for up to 14 days,
29:47and it ends up tasting milder and somehow sweeter than the original.
29:52And it turns out, I love it.
29:55Mmm.
29:57Chef's kiss on that.
29:59After breakfast, Jen's booked me a special excursion
30:03on Grenada's longest beach, Grand Anse.
30:06It may have been voted one of the best beaches in the Caribbean,
30:10but if you come off-season, rain can stop play.
30:15Oh, my God, it's like a...
30:17It's biblical! Quick!
30:19Get the cameras in!
30:26It's all part of the adventure.
30:29I love the way it rains out here.
30:31It's lovely.
30:33Luxury rain.
30:35Luxurious rain. First-class rain.
30:38Can anybody see any blue sky? Because I can.
30:41But for a luxury traveller on a budget,
30:44the rain could be pennies from heaven.
30:46So some destinations, it even makes sense to book during rainy season.
30:50You'll call it the rainy season,
30:52but actually it's just one hour of rain in the morning,
30:54or it might be a couple of hours of rain in the afternoon.
30:55You can get access sometimes to cheaper flights,
30:59you can access to cheaper luxury hotels,
31:01and you may even be given the opportunity
31:03to upgrade really at a fraction of the cost
31:05of what you would normally pay for business class or first-class travel.
31:08So if you're able to travel outside of school holidays
31:11or at the time when it's not the best weather,
31:13then you might be able to experience the luxury
31:15at about half the price.
31:17So bag an off-season bargain for Caribbean luxury
31:21with a bit of rainy downtime.
31:22True to form, less than an hour later, the rain stopped.
31:27Oh, look at that.
31:29Really feels like you're in the Caribbean.
31:32For many luxury travellers,
31:34the silver lining to any first-class trip
31:36is the experiences you have along the way.
31:39And boy, am I about to have an experience.
31:43Hello, sir.
31:45Hi.
31:47Oh, what a beautiful horse.
31:49Yeah.
31:50What's his name?
31:52His name's Chocolate Bonanza.
31:55Royan runs one of the most well-respected stables on the island,
31:59with many a high-end guest asking to live out their fantasies
32:03of galloping along this stunning beach.
32:06Right, come on then, baby. Let's go.
32:21Roy!
32:23That was the best ride I've ever had in my life.
32:28I feel alive right now. I feel so alive.
32:36But it's hot work for both me and the horse,
32:40and apparently he loves nothing more than cooling off in the sea.
32:45Keep asking him to go. Go, go.
32:46Ask him. Don't let him turn.
32:48But nobody seems to have told him that.
32:51Get up.
32:53Yeah, and get him to go in.
32:55Let him go in, in, in.
32:57Left, yeah. Keep going left, Roy.
32:59Left.
33:02Good boy.
33:05There we go.
33:07And keep him in there.
33:09There we go.
33:11Oh, that is so good.
33:12That is so unbelievably good.
33:15Oh, what good horses.
33:24What better way to celebrate a successful ride
33:27than with a cocktail from Bar 61 West
33:30at the heart of Grand Anse Beach.
33:33That's definitely going to hit the spot.
33:35It will.
33:37What is it?
33:39It's the Passionate Sunset.
33:40It's the Passionate Sunset.
33:42A Passionate Sunset.
33:44Lovely.
33:46It's a cocktail of passion fruit, grenadine and local rum.
33:53A lot of local rum.
33:59It's 1pm and I've definitely worked up an appetite.
34:04Luckily, back at the villa,
34:06my own personal chef has come to the rescue.
34:11Oh, my goodness.
34:14Oh, my goodness.
34:17Who went fishing this morning for you, Josie?
34:20Chef.
34:22You caught that lobster this morning?
34:25Yes.
34:27Look at the size of that lobster.
34:29So, chef, we'll be cooking for you.
34:31So, if you want to have a quick lesson,
34:33you're more than welcome.
34:35If you want to go and relax, you can.
34:37I just don't know what to do.
34:38Do I want to learn how to cook lobster?
34:40Do I want to swim in my own private pool?
34:42Do I want to hit the beach?
34:44I don't know.
34:46It's a good problem to have, right?
34:48Yeah.
34:50I think I'll stick with chef and his lobster.
34:52We've got red slime.
34:54We've got onions, garlic, all those herbs.
34:57Is this a very grenadine way of doing it?
35:00Yeah, yeah.
35:02OK.
35:04Oh, you've put your own twist to it.
35:06Good.
35:09Hiring a personal chef to prepare a meal in Grenada
35:12could cost around £200,
35:14but for my room package,
35:16all food is included in the price.
35:19This is unreal.
35:21What's the etiquette here?
35:23Do we grab a lobster and just bite it?
35:25Yeah.
35:27It's Caribbean.
35:29It's Caribbean.
35:31Look at that.
35:33I think luxury has become more informal
35:36in lots of ways.
35:38It's about space.
35:40It's about feeling relaxed.
35:42It's about service.
35:44And if you're not quite sure where you're meant to sit
35:46or what all these knives and forks are for,
35:48it's not really that enjoyable.
35:50You'd be much happier in somewhere not quite so posh.
35:52So, you know,
35:54it's sort of choose your luxury wisely.
35:59Chef!
36:01It is beautiful.
36:03Well, I don't normally dine on lobster,
36:06but the best lobster I think I'm ever going to have.
36:09This is what I love when after I cook,
36:12the girls say,
36:14that it's amazing, that it's good.
36:16So I feel very happy with that.
36:18If we were on Strictly,
36:20you would have gone straight through to the final
36:22and you would have won it all.
36:24Coming up,
36:26I ride the waves on a sunset cruise
36:29Go!
36:32before diving down to dinner with the fishes.
36:35Who would have thought it?
36:37Josie Gibson, a diver.
36:49My first cash trip to Grenada
36:51has been full of good times.
36:55I've eaten freshly caught lobster.
36:57It is amazing!
36:59Thank you, sir.
37:01And drunk, cool coconut water.
37:02Everybody looks so young here.
37:04Do you think it's the coconut water?
37:06Definitely.
37:08Before having all that shaken and stirred on horseback.
37:11That was the best ride I've ever had in my life.
37:16So far, I've experienced Grenada on land,
37:19but this is an island nation.
37:21So before I leave,
37:23I really want to push the boat out.
37:25And for around £1,200,
37:28I can sail into the sunset in style
37:30on a private chartered catamaran
37:32all to myself.
37:34£1,200 may sound expensive,
37:37but the boat takes up to 10 people,
37:39making a pricey but less painful
37:41£120 each if you're sharing.
37:44Hey, welcome to Grenada.
37:46Welcome aboard Charterfax.
37:48So I'll be your captain for the day.
37:50With me, I have a lovely crew
37:52which is going to be taking care of you for the day.
37:54The shores around the capital, St. George's,
37:57are relatively calm and sheltered.
37:58But the Caribbean trade winds
38:00can still take you by surprise.
38:03Ooh!
38:05Look at that, Marilyn Monroe.
38:07With wind in the sails,
38:09we're heading out on our first-class adventure.
38:13Hello, Captain.
38:15Hello again. How are you?
38:17Yeah, I'm really good.
38:19Enjoying it so far?
38:21Oh, it's lovely.
38:23Perfect.
38:25Yeah, this is a life.
38:26It's a first-class way to going on a boat trip
38:29because you have the luxury of doing whatever you want.
38:34So if I said, look,
38:36I want to go to this island round the corner
38:38and I would like a meal on the beach...
38:40We'll do that for you.
38:42We can prepare the meal on the back of the boat.
38:44We always have a grill on the boat.
38:46We get food dropped off with a speedboat
38:48and we prepare it for you.
38:50It's like being in a dream.
38:52It is.
38:54Am I dreaming?
38:56Look at me.
38:58I'm actually speechless.
39:00That's never happened before.
39:02You could charter this catamaran
39:04and go anywhere in the Grenadan waters,
39:06but for me,
39:08the crew have organised a mystery tour.
39:10Where are we going now, then?
39:12Right now, we're going to pick up a mooring.
39:14This is where the underwater statue park is.
39:16An underwater statue park?
39:18Yeah.
39:20I'm about to see an art gallery underwater.
39:22Yep, yep.
39:24Can it get any cooler than this?
39:26Yeah, it definitely sounds cool,
39:28but there is one small problem.
39:31I am a tiny bit scared of fish.
39:33Oh.
39:35Is there many fish in there?
39:37Yes, I mean...
39:39That was not the answer I was looking for
39:41and I'm not convinced the boat crew
39:43are taking my mild fish phobia seriously.
39:46There's definitely no shark.
39:48They're all on the boat.
39:50Yeah.
39:52All I can say
39:54is this undersea art
39:56had better be worth it.
39:58Okay.
40:00And...
40:02go!
40:08Well, I've just brought another fish away.
40:13Oh, my God,
40:15the water
40:17is so warm.
40:19Right.
40:21Let's go and see
40:23this underwater art gallery, then.
40:31This place takes your breath away,
40:34which is not ideal when you're underwater.
40:37There are over 75 sculptures down here,
40:40all created by British artist
40:42Jason de Kerr's tailor.
40:45He used special marine cement
40:47to encourage coral growth
40:49and attract sea life.
40:51This underwater sculpture park
40:53includes a circle of children
40:55from diverse backgrounds
40:57who stand as a symbol of unity
40:59and resilience.
41:01It's widely acclaimed
41:03as the first of its kind in the world.
41:14That was really, really special.
41:16I was really surprised
41:18how deep I could go.
41:19At one point, I'm having lunch.
41:21To have an art museum
41:23underwater like that
41:25and to be able to experience that,
41:27that is a real experience, yes.
41:29It's really, really special.
41:31Really special.
41:33I reckon that luxury travel
41:35doesn't have to be all about
41:37just taking it easy.
41:39It seems it can be most rewarding
41:41when you push yourself
41:43just a little bit further
41:45than you'd normally go.
41:47I didn't actually realise
41:49what I was doing.
41:51So I surprised myself.
41:53I'm actually right at something.
41:55And who would have thought it?
41:57Josie Gibson, a diver.
41:59But I suppose the real joy
42:01of a luxury trip
42:03is that the comfort zone
42:05is never too far away.
42:09Wow, is that all for me?
42:12Lovely.
42:14And at any moment,
42:16you can return to being
42:17just as good in it.
42:20Well, let's be honest.
42:22Everything here is more than just good.
42:24At times, it's off the scale.
42:26And that includes the time
42:28when the sun dips below the horizon.
42:33I've seen some sunsets in my time,
42:35but look at that.
42:37It looks like something out of a fairy tale.
42:39All the colours are changing,
42:41all the clouds,
42:43all the colours of the ocean.
42:45It's just magic.
42:48Over the last couple of days,
42:50I've learnt that you've got to
42:52live life like you mean it.
42:54A man offers you a horse on the beach?
42:56Ride it.
43:00You're scared of fish?
43:02Dive right in.
43:04And that rainy day fund
43:06you've saved away?
43:08Spend it the next time it rains.
