00:00We got action boss if you are just joining us as the segment ended
00:07Tyler's kicking himself. He's not here
00:10Chris Santiago hit the
00:14Breaking news sounder and the news was the Texans made a move. They made a trade
00:19They have a new addition to the team and it is at the wide receiver position. It is Christian Kirk
00:27And they are sending a
00:302026
00:33To Jacksonville for Christian Kirk the Texans will take on Christian Kirk's existing contract which is set to pay him
00:4116 and a half million in 2025 the final year of his deal
00:46so right now it is a one-year 16 and a half million dollar deal for Christian Kirk and
00:53Christian Kirk last year the last two years had some injury issues his season ended last year when he broke his
01:00his collarbone and
01:02He played eight games broke his collar collarbone miss the rest of that season two years ago. He tore a groin
01:10But even that year he was almost 14 yards a catch primarily working in the slot almost 800 yards the previous year
01:18Before that he had 84 catches over 1100 yards eight touchdowns his first year with Jacksonville
01:24I see a lot of people texting in and you can on the Jim Adler the Texas hammer text line
01:307 1 3 5 7 2 4 6 10 all you also on YouTube and twitch. I see you all cam kick rocks
01:37DQ
01:38Cornbread go ahead and you get just your thoughts in what's your thoughts about it straight up the Texans have Christian Kirk
01:45He is now a part of this receiving core your thoughts on it. I like it
01:51I like I've always been a fan of Christian Kirk
01:53I
01:54like the the
01:56As I've said multiple times with the Texans in the past of like all the receivers do everything I prefer
02:03I prefer receivers to be
02:06Niche receivers if you will or or have an identity as a receiver
02:11Or if you is I think it's very very easy to see and say that
02:17When you look at Christian Kirk, he is an inside receiver period point-blank. This this is not a guy
02:21That's gonna be on the outside running the route tree
02:23This is a guy that's gonna be on the inside matched up with nickel defenders
02:26That has the twitch the explosive the change of direction that you need in order to create a little bit of separation
02:32For the quarterback immediately some one of those guys that can run the now routes like either way you go right now
02:37He's open. Boom. If I'm getting heated up, he can give me he can give me an option in the past game
02:43We've seen him personally here when when the nickel defender isn't necessarily a cover guy
02:48Hell he ended the career of a Texans
02:52Nickel defender here a couple years back and and so look I like Christian Kirk man. I've always liked him
02:58I liked him when he's at Texas a and M
03:01Unfortunately, he had been able to stay healthy of late. So so you the numbers don't necessarily show you what you would like to see
03:07But besides that beside the injuries man, I really like Christian Kirk. I like him here with the Texans
03:13and it I think it gives me a little this is a different conversation obviously because you a little peek behind the curtain of what
03:21Potentially Nick Kaylee's offense is gonna look like versus what we've watched here for the last two years Bobby slow it
03:26He comes into kind of that digs role
03:30from last year and
03:32To me you got younger. I
03:34Think you got cheaper and
03:37I
03:39Think he's at least on the same level of Stefan Dix the players right now. Yeah on what you're asking
03:45I think he's at least at least on the same level and
03:50potentially
03:52As a
03:53Off of a you know collarbone issue as opposed to somebody 31 coming off an ACL
03:59Who may not be ready at the start of the season?
04:01I think you potentially have at the very least
04:06Got the same level of player to me that you got from digs and I'm seeing some people chime in on this thing. I
04:15I'm with you. I don't if he is healthy. I don't like the move. I love it. I love the fit. I love
04:24The combination of it like you're not to me the Texans don't need
04:29Don't need that's about developed in it. The Texans don't need a one
04:35They have they have a they have a one and they have somebody that works well, and I think this may
04:41It may just say hey
04:43We want somebody that runs inside routes or Clint as you've kind of alluded to
04:46This may also shed a light on maybe what kind of offense they want to run, right?
04:51And that Brady style of offense in New England had a player that fit this mold
04:57You and you can think of them in your in your mind at a player that fit this mode
05:02I I think he and Nico fit now
05:06I think they still have to address another receiver
05:09This does not at all take off take receiver off the board to me in the draft
05:14In fact, I would even still push that they that they really take a look at 25
05:20Taking another receiver there like that what that to me would make a lot of sense to go
05:26We've got Nico we sign a veteran that can play on the inside and then we go
05:32Get another one I
05:34Love the move if he's healthy love the move of Christian Kurt coming here
05:39That makes that makes a lot of sense to me a lot of sense CJ him love it
05:45You love the move love move. I see some of y'all on the text line do not
05:51Well, I mean here's the deal let's text a y'all are gushing
05:57Here's our signing underwhelming typical Texans no, no, here's here's the deal with the Texans man now
06:03Talk about the deal, right? What does it tell you about?
06:10Nick Kaylee's offense and
06:13What does it tell you or in your opinion for what it's worth what do the Texans need to do next right that that's that's
06:20All this is right. You're talking about very little risk with Christian Kurt. Yes
06:24There's a 16 million dollar salary on there, but there's zero dead cap on this contract assuming his contract transfers
06:30it's exactly what they get he was fixing to get cut by Jacksonville and
06:35All the Texans did was throw a seventh round pick out there
06:39To not a lot to make sure that they get their hands on Christian Kurt and not let him hit the free market
06:44Right, so good move for the Texans
06:47this doesn't mean that this is the
06:50The receiver that they're gonna sign and they're done with it
06:53And this is this is what they're gonna roll with the rest of the year
06:57There are come come training camp time
06:59this is just a move that presented itself and
07:02There's a clear need with the Houston Texans and this is a very very very good ad. It's a safe ad
07:08This is a very safe ad
07:12With a player will be worth every bit of 16 million dollars
07:16The the only complaint right now now if this is the best receiver that you go get then I'm my problems with it
07:22Like if this is the only receiver that you go get then yeah, there's gonna be you know
07:26We're going to have a different conversation, but right now the Texans are wide receiver needy in a big way
07:33They need experience in a big way. They need as they've talked
07:37I think there's gonna there's gonna be the change that you're gonna see
07:39Offensively is there's gonna each receivers gonna have more of an identity this year instead of being so versatile
07:43That they needed an inside receiver and this presented itself and they gave up a seventh round pick to go get it
07:49This this is a really good move by the Houston Texans. I love it. Yeah, it's and you said safe you said
07:55this is not a move to me that needed to be a
08:00Like a huge splash. I think they needed receiver help, but I don't think they need it splash help
08:07There's some other yeah, I disagree with that
08:09You think they you think they need you think they need a number one level receiver
08:14No, no, they need a true legit. No doubt number two receiver though
08:20like like legit like a like like a a guy that that is a a
08:27Can flirt with a number one? Yes. Yeah, they need they need it. Do you?
08:32Do you think a healthy tank Dale was was that a legit number two?
08:37I think I think the seat I think he could have been one day
08:40I don't think he was there
08:41No
08:41I got like to me year year one the combination of Nico and tank and and and now Nico is better
08:48Obviously, I think I think obviously I'm
08:52I'm with you
08:53I think combination of Nico and Christian Kirk can be on the level of the combination of of Nico and tank Dale
09:00If Christian Kirk, it's healthy. I mean, this is this is a guy. Yeah. Look, I don't know that in my opinion
09:06I don't know that Christian Kirk has the ceiling like the the highlight reel ceiling that that tank Dale has
09:13But but he will be a good complimentary receiver
09:17Look, I'm not saying that they need to go sign DK Metcalf
09:20What I'm saying is is based the same thing you're saying like you just said that this doesn't take first or second round at the wide
09:26receiver
09:27Same thing. I'm with you 100% right there like somebody like you can't sign Christian Kirk
09:32Especially with the injury history and with the fact that he's a true blue inside receiver
09:36And say I'm going with Nico and Christian. I'm gonna hope that met you and hutch pan out
09:40Oh, yeah, there's got to be another guy in there. That's a lock stock and barrel starter and potential game-changer in this offense
09:47Yeah, and and and I the draft makes a lot of sense. I don't agree with it
09:51I don't I don't necessarily say they have got to bring in somebody
09:55that
09:56Production wise is gonna that's gonna be better than this guy's is either had a 1,100 yards or flirted with a thousand yards
10:04That's like okay, they need another one that could come in there could be a threat and
10:09Can give you seven eight hundred yards to me because I mean Nico is a plane one
10:15All right, you got me here
10:17They got they got a flat plane one in Nico and then they have a really good
10:21I think production wise a two in in Christian Kirk
