00:00:00And Kash Patel is the FBI chief for United States of America.
00:00:03It's official now.
00:00:04Of course, it was an appointment that Donald Trump had
00:00:07suggested, but there's a protocol as well.
00:00:09Kash Patel becomes the first Indian origin FBI chief.
00:00:13Remember, this is a big designation.
00:00:15He's been a Donald Trump loyalist,
00:00:17and he's now been confirmed as the FBI chief.
00:00:23Kash Patel has given out a statement as well,
00:00:25and has said, thank you for your unwavering support
00:00:30and confidence.
00:00:31He said, I quote him here, my mission as director is clear.
00:00:34Let good cops be cops, and rebuild trust in the FBI.
00:00:38Remember, the Federal Bureau of Investigation
00:00:40is precisely one of the most important organizations
00:00:43when it comes to the United States of America,
00:00:45for law and order, and for ensuring safety and security.
00:00:48I want to bring in my colleague, Shashank Bhattu,
00:00:50this morning on the first up.
00:00:52Shashank, good morning.
00:00:53Tell us, Kash Patel was already, of course,
00:00:56a suggested appointment for this position.
00:00:58What's the protocol like?
00:01:00And what does it mean for someone like Kash Patel,
00:01:04a name not as stereotypical American, to get this position?
00:01:10No, you're absolutely right.
00:01:11He's, in many ways, been seen as a breakout moment
00:01:15for Indian-American politicians in the United States.
00:01:19You've seen them do well over the last couple of years,
00:01:22but especially in the Trump administration,
00:01:24you have, of course, Kash Patel do extremely well.
00:01:27Vivek Ramaswamy, as well, did extremely well
00:01:31in the Trump administration and rules to a high position.
00:01:35Of course, Kash Patel now is in a position
00:01:37of significant authority.
00:01:38The Federal Bureau of Investigation
00:01:39is really one of America's most important agencies
00:01:43responsible for counterintelligence,
00:01:45counterterrorism, protecting the United States
00:01:47from foreign intelligence threats.
00:01:50It also works very closely as part
00:01:51of the broader intelligence community.
00:01:54So, Kash Patel works very closely with Lucy Gabbard,
00:01:56another politician in America who's of great interest
00:02:00to us here in India.
00:02:02So, really, one of the most powerful investigative agencies
00:02:04in the United States.
00:02:05And the fact that Kash Patel has gotten this sort of position
00:02:10shows that not only in elected office,
00:02:12but also at the highest levels of government,
00:02:14we're seeing Indian-Americans make their way
00:02:17into the hallways of power.
00:02:19They're here to stay, now, the Indian-Americans,
00:02:21in terms of their power in Washington, D.C.
00:02:24It's big news, remember, and it's a big opportunity,
00:02:26a responsibility, also, on his shoulders,
00:02:28the confidence that's been expressed
00:02:29by Donald Trump's administration.
00:02:31Shashank, stay on with me.
00:02:33The White House Deputy Chief congratulating Kash Patel
00:02:36and in an interestingly full, filmy, Hindi-filmy way.
00:02:40Let's take a look at this.
00:02:41Let's take a look at this.
00:03:11After Donald Trump's statements,
00:03:37Elon Musk, now, charging at Volodymyr Zelensky.
00:03:40What's happening?
00:03:41Clearly, the Nazis of America's new administration
00:03:43is very clear that they're not going to stand by Ukraine
00:03:46in this Russia-Ukraine war.
00:03:48Musk is calling for elections in Ukraine.
00:03:50Elon Musk, the tech millionaire
00:03:51who's part of the administration as well, now, in the USA,
00:03:55says, I quote him here,
00:03:56"'Zelensky despised by the people of Ukraine.
00:03:59"'He would lose in a landslide if the elections do happen.'"
00:04:03That's what, remember, Elon Musk has said.
00:04:05Now, he may not be in a political position,
00:04:07but as a close aide of Donald Trump,
00:04:09who's already charged at Zelensky,
00:04:11is he even calling him a comedian, a dictator?
00:04:16I want to bring in Shashank Mathur on this.
00:04:17Shashank, tell me more.
00:04:19What is happening, do you think,
00:04:20in the United States of America
00:04:21when it comes to Russia-Ukraine war?
00:04:23Very different from how the Biden administration
00:04:27were giving responses about.
00:04:30You're absolutely right.
00:04:31If you're Volodymyr Zelensky at this point in time,
00:04:34you've got to be feeling quite worried
00:04:36about the way things have turned out.
00:04:38We had the U.S.-Russia talk in Saudi Arabia
00:04:41just a little while ago.
00:04:43Ukraine was not at the negotiating table there.
00:04:46We know that the relationship
00:04:47between President Trump and President Zelensky
00:04:49has not been easy.
00:04:51Elon Musk in the past has criticized Zelensky
00:04:54in the past for his actions,
00:04:56in terms of his handling of the war,
00:04:57in terms of how much U.S. aid has gone to Ukraine.
00:05:01So it has been a tense relationship for a while now,
00:05:03but things really kicked off into high gear
00:05:06just a couple of days ago.
00:05:07Zelensky gave an interview
00:05:10where he accused Trump of operating
00:05:12within a disinformation space
00:05:14and sort of rubbishing some of the U.S. President's claim
00:05:19about how much money America had given to Ukraine
00:05:21to fight this conflict.
00:05:22And Donald Trump did not like that comment.
00:05:24He fired back.
00:05:26As you cited, he called Zelensky a dictator,
00:05:29and this has drawn a lot of criticism in Ukraine.
00:05:32But now Elon Musk, of course,
00:05:33has added on to the past criticism
00:05:36he has made of Zelensky as well.
00:05:38So if you're Vladimir Zelensky right now,
00:05:41it's showing that you are flipping political support
00:05:43from two of the most powerful men in the United States.
00:05:46And if they're negotiating the end to a war
00:05:48that decides the future of your country,
00:05:49that's not a position you want to be in.
00:05:51All right, Shashank, keep tracking all the latest on that.
00:05:53A lot is unfolding when it comes to Russia-Ukraine.
00:05:56It's on agenda for Donald Trump to end this war,
00:05:58and he's taking a side Biden administration did not take.
00:06:01So how is it going to turn out?
00:06:03We'll be tracking the latest on that.
00:06:05Clearly, Zelensky worried, concerned, and isolated,
00:06:08at least when it comes to the USA side.
00:06:18Bengaluru cannot change.
00:06:20That's a remark that has got D.K. Shivakumar,
00:06:22the deputy chief minister, in trouble.
00:06:24The BJP has jumped on this,
00:06:25raining fire at the D.K. Shivakumar, who's the deputy CM,
00:06:28saying Congress government is a curse to Karnataka,
00:06:31and Bengaluru and its people are eagerly waiting
00:06:33to throw away this hopeless Congress government.
00:06:35D.K. Shivakumar basically had said, I quote him here,
00:06:37even if God himself descends from heaven,
00:06:40walks on the streets of Bengaluru,
00:06:41nothing will change within one, two, or even three years.
00:06:44But to that, BJP says,
00:06:45neither do people have any expectations from you
00:06:47or your government saying that Bengaluru cannot change.
00:06:51So here's what he had said.
00:06:52And remember, this is how,
00:06:54let's first listen in what D.K. Shivakumar had said
00:06:57that has led to this controversy.
00:07:01D.K. Shivakumar speaking in Telugu
00:07:30D.K. Shivakumar speaking in Telugu
00:07:32Right, Sagai Raj, my colleague joining me this morning
00:07:34on The First Up.
00:07:36Sagai, good morning.
00:07:37You tell us, what do you think,
00:07:39according to your sources in the Congress,
00:07:41that D.K. Shivakumar,
00:07:42despite being the deputy chief minister,
00:07:44had that comment to make?
00:07:45And then comes in, of course, the BJP's charge expectedly.
00:07:50See, while launching Namma Raste program yesterday in BDNP,
00:07:55D.K. Shivakumar made this controversial statement.
00:07:57D.K. Shivakumar speaking in Telugu
00:08:25All right, keep tracking all the latest on that.
00:08:28Interesting, remember what D.K. Shivakumar had said.
00:08:30Does he mean that the situation is so worse
00:08:32that it would not be repaired in the next few years?
00:08:36Or perhaps he said there's no hope
00:08:37for the possibly the most high-tech cosmopolitan city
00:08:40of India right now.
00:08:41Thank you very much for now.
00:08:42Remember, Bengaluru does have serious civic issues
00:08:46and it does need a change or at least a certain plan
00:08:49and a vision for the city.
00:08:51And it's day one when it comes to Delhi government
00:08:55starting its work.
00:08:56Oath has been done,
00:08:57portfolios have been distributed as well.
00:08:59So now we know that these six ministers
00:09:02who will be led by Rekha Gupta as the chief minister
00:09:05will be in charge.
00:09:06Let me go one by one.
00:09:07Rekha Gupta will be in charge of finance.
00:09:10Parvesh Verma has got PWD.
00:09:14Ashish Sood holds the education ministry.
00:09:17Ravi Indraj has got social welfare ministry.
00:09:20These are, remember, just one of many ministries.
00:09:21There are multiple ministries these individuals have got.
00:09:24Manjinder Singh Sirsa will be in charge
00:09:26of the environment ministry for one.
00:09:28Kapil Mishra getting law and justice.
00:09:32Pankaj Singh gets health.
00:09:34After holding the first cabinet meeting,
00:09:35Delhi CM Rekha Sharma announced
00:09:37that Ayushman Bharat scheme,
00:09:39it's a central government scheme in health,
00:09:40which was blocked by previous Amadni Party government.
00:09:43They said it's not really working well.
00:09:44Will, however, now be implemented in Delhi.
00:09:47But here's how it's going to become fireworks.
00:09:5014 CAG reports details will be tabled
00:09:53during the first session of Delhi Assembly.
00:09:55That may include the civil lines residents
00:09:58of Arvind Kejriwal and the liquor excise policy case.
00:10:01The BJP lashing out at AAP saying,
00:10:03CAG reports were deliberately not released,
00:10:06not tabled in the session
00:10:07because they feared it could expose them.
00:10:09Former Delhi CM and Amadni Party MLA, even now,
00:10:12Atishi, lashing out at Delhi government
00:10:14for not discussing Samridhi Yojana
00:10:16in the first cabinet meeting,
00:10:17the scheme that promised 2,500 rupees to women per month.
00:10:51The performance report of CAG
00:10:53was clear that there were issues.
00:10:56Whatever we said,
00:10:58the announcement and resolution
00:11:00will be fulfilled.
00:11:02Delhi's governance will not work
00:11:05by sitting in a glass palace in Delhi.
00:11:07Delhi's government will work
00:11:09by living among the people of Delhi.
00:11:13Whatever corruption the government of Kejriwal
00:11:15and Atishi have committed,
00:11:20will be investigated by the law
00:11:25and all the culprits will be put in jail.
00:11:31I feel that it will be great for New Delhi
00:11:35and it will be great for the government of Delhi
00:11:39to have a progressive, forward-looking
00:11:43and honest leadership
00:11:45which works for the welfare of the people of Delhi.
00:11:49You cannot have a developed India
00:11:51without a developed capital.
00:11:53It is very important to have a developed capital
00:11:56for a developed India.
00:11:57I feel that you should also go to Delhi
00:12:02and see how bad the condition of Delhi is.
00:12:04We have got a big verdict.
00:12:06In the next five years,
00:12:11there will be a big change in Delhi,
00:12:14and there can't be a bigger fake government
00:12:17than this.
00:12:19We have got a complete mandate.
00:12:21I feel that the advantage of a double-engine government
00:12:23will be given to the people of Delhi.
00:12:24This morning, Rekha Gupta said
00:12:27that in the first cabinet meeting,
00:12:30the scheme of giving Rs 2,500 to every woman
00:12:34in Delhi every month will be passed.
00:12:38But I am saddened that
00:12:40on the very first day of the formation of the government,
00:12:44the BJP has started breaking its promises
00:12:49and has started deceiving the people of Delhi.
00:13:15BJP sources say USAID gave about $200 million
00:13:18to the UPA government from 2004 to 2013.
00:13:22Indian NGOs received a lot of money
00:13:24during the same time of over 200 million.
00:13:27USAID funding eventually stopped after 2015.
00:13:30NDA government received about 1 million approximately,
00:13:33while the funding to NGOs increased over 200.
00:13:38Sources say the hike in funding to these kind of,
00:13:41and what NGOs were these,
00:13:43coincided with Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2022.
00:13:47So, that's the calculation that BJP is charging with.
00:13:50Congress Netas are backing Rahul Gandhi,
00:13:52terming US President's claims as nonsensical.
00:13:55Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh
00:13:57urging Indian government to then bring out a white paper
00:13:59detailing USAID support
00:14:01to both government and non-government institutions.
00:14:07So, let's take a look of how USAID funding
00:14:09has become a showdown.
00:14:10The spotlight is on the UN agencies,
00:14:12former India chief Veena Reddy as well.
00:14:14Lawyer and BJP leader Mahesh Jaitmalani
00:14:17has called for an investigation
00:14:19to find out how the money was allocated to who,
00:14:23and eventually a chain trail can it be found out about.
00:14:27Take a look of why there are some names
00:14:29cropping up in this case.
00:14:32Well, $21 million,
00:14:34I guess they were trying to get somebody else elected.
00:14:36Well, we ought to tell the Indian government.
00:14:41US President Donald Trump
00:14:42hinting at USAID interference in India's election
00:14:46has put the spotlight on Veena Reddy,
00:14:50the former India director for the UN agency.
00:14:54An Andhra Pradesh-born American diplomat,
00:14:56she joined USAID's India office on August 5th, 2021.
00:15:04She announced her return to the US on July 17th, 2024,
00:15:09more than a month after the results
00:15:11for the Lok Sabha elections were announced.
00:15:15Before joining the US government
00:15:17as a foreign services officer,
00:15:19Reddy was a corporate attorney
00:15:21in New York, London, and Los Angeles.
00:15:23She has also been a member of bar councils
00:15:26of New York and California,
00:15:28and has also served in USAID missions in Pakistan,
00:15:31the Central Asian Republics, and Central America.
00:15:35With Trump's bomb-chill revelation,
00:15:38BJP leader and top lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani
00:15:41demanded an investigation into USAID funding
00:15:45and Veena Reddy's role.
00:15:47India should certainly make a request
00:15:50for further details,
00:15:52whether, there are only three questions which remain.
00:15:55An allocation was made, right,
00:15:57which President Trump, in his words,
00:16:02says, were meant to bring about a change in government,
00:16:05and we should tell the Indian government.
00:16:07Who are the people who made the allegation
00:16:09on behalf of USAID in India, right?
00:16:12And three, who are the people
00:16:14who received the allocated funds?
00:16:16We will know when this investigation takes place,
00:16:18or where further information is communicated
00:16:21by the Trump administration to the Modi government.
00:16:25Net funds disbursements for Indian projects by USAID
00:16:28rose significantly during Reddy's stint.
00:16:32Jumping multi-fold to over $228 million,
00:16:36or Rs. 1,982 crores in 2022,
00:16:40the highest since 2001.
00:16:45According to the US State Department,
00:16:47during her nearly three years of tenure
00:16:49as the Mission Director,
00:16:50Veena Reddy oversaw various projects
00:16:53in fields of health, economic development,
00:16:56education, social services, democracy,
00:16:58human rights, and governance.
00:17:02India Railways, Ministry of Power,
00:17:05Neeti Aayog, National Power Training Institute,
00:17:08and Power Sector Skill Council,
00:17:10NTPC, Green National Skills Development Corporation,
00:17:14Ministry of Tribal Affairs,
00:17:16Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,
00:17:18Atal Innovation Mission,
00:17:19are among prominent government bodies
00:17:21that either signed fresh agreements
00:17:23or implemented USAID-funded programs
00:17:26during Reddy's stint in New Delhi.
00:17:28Will the USAID funds
00:17:30and Veena Reddy's role be probed now?
00:17:33With Shubham Tiwari, New Delhi,
00:17:35Bureau Report, India Today.
00:17:58Shubham Tiwari, New Delhi,
00:18:00Bureau Report, India Today.
00:18:28Shubham Tiwari, New Delhi,
00:18:30Bureau Report, India Today.
00:18:58Rhetoric.
00:19:00Look at that.
00:19:01Absolutely pains me.
00:19:02And this man, clearly is no experienced teacher.
00:19:05You can see he's a young man, kicking.
00:19:07Who gave him the right
00:19:08to kick a young girl student?
00:19:10Beat her?
00:19:13Thankfully it was all recorded on CCTV
00:19:15because one doesn't even know
00:19:17how worse it actually got.
00:19:20Who gave him the right to behave like this?
00:19:22Let's listen into reactions coming in.
00:19:28Okay, okay.
00:19:52It's absolutely disturbing
00:19:53and I hope image deduction is taken on this.
00:19:55India Today's editor, Nagarjun Dwarkanath,
00:19:58joins me on this.
00:19:59Nagarjun, good morning.
00:20:00Tell me this, what exactly happened?
00:20:01What are the details picking up?
00:20:03How are the parents escalating this?
00:20:05Because often in these conservative schools,
00:20:06even though parents can sometimes take a step back.
00:20:09So what are you hearing?
00:20:10What exactly happened?
00:20:11And how's the fight now escalating on this?
00:20:15Good morning, Pooja.
00:20:15This incident occurred on September 16th,
00:20:18in the evening, 4.30 is what we are told.
00:20:21Accused, Mohammed Asan,
00:20:23is related to the hostel in charge of the Madrasa as well.
00:20:28He's accused of beating up the minor kid for wrongdoing
00:20:32and also having complaints while playing,
00:20:34not maintaining rules and also spitting the rice.
00:20:37Some petty issues is what we are told.
00:20:39And finally, when the kid complained to the parents,
00:20:41the parents lodged a complaint in Kothnur Police Station
00:20:43in Bangalore Northeast Division Limits.
00:20:47And finally, Hassan was arrested by the Kothnur Police
00:20:51on 17th February and has been taken to judicial custody
00:20:53as we speak.
00:20:55But the shocking visuals prove
00:20:57that what happens when parents are away
00:20:59and how the school authorities treat the kids in this.
00:21:02Hassan was beating up the children
00:21:04just for petty issues like a lot of complaints
00:21:06that you're not maintaining rules while playing,
00:21:08you're spilling the rice while carrying from a plate.
00:21:11Such petty issues is what we are told.
00:21:12And finally, when the kid complained,
00:21:14the family took it to the police station
00:21:16and accused has been arrested.
00:21:18Okay, so he's been arrested, that's good news.
00:21:20Remember, there has to be discipline,
00:21:22but there's a reason that guidelines have come in,
00:21:25especially when you're dealing with young,
00:21:27minor age female students.
00:21:29Brinda Adige, social activist,
00:21:31is also joining me on the phone line.
00:21:33Brinda, tell me this, in any way,
00:21:35if anyone's watching right now saying,
00:21:38but thoda discipline karna chahiye,
00:21:40what would you say to these visuals on your screen?
00:21:44First and foremost, all of these hostile wardens
00:21:47and supervisors and management must understand
00:21:50that they are not parents, one.
00:21:53So when we talk about discipline,
00:21:55there are two different kinds.
00:21:56There is a discipline that you have a right to do
00:22:00as a institutional guide or mentor,
00:22:03and that absolutely is not caning, beating,
00:22:07slapping, or hitting a child,
00:22:10because that goes against the Juvenile Justice Act.
00:22:12We are very, very clear.
00:22:14No institution dare take up that responsibility.
00:22:17We must also applaud the parents
00:22:19for taking the courage to make that complaint,
00:22:22because often parents' hands are tied
00:22:25because institutions will continue to say,
00:22:28this was for the good of your child,
00:22:30we have a, you know, you have a child in the hostel
00:22:33because you cannot look after the child,
00:22:35uncontrollable child, so you are at fault,
00:22:38making the parents feel guilty
00:22:40that they have admitted the child to a hostel.
00:22:43So here, the hostel authorities, especially Madrasas,
00:22:46because they have a lot of religious connotation attached,
00:22:50so that becomes a double burden on parents.
00:22:53Should I even report about a organization
00:22:56that is so closely associated and attached to my religion?
00:23:00And all of this is a huge burden,
00:23:02not only on the parents, but also on the children.
00:23:05So even when they beat up the children,
00:23:07they make it sound and look like
00:23:09they have a God-given right
00:23:12to beat the child and correct the child.
00:23:15They don't understand that they are pushing the child
00:23:17through so much of mental and emotional turmoil.
00:23:21That's right, and some of this turmoil,
00:23:22this childhood trauma can actually continue,
00:23:24and you're absolutely right.
00:23:25I think good of parents also to have come in here.
00:23:28Remember, what you're looking at
00:23:30is not a slap of a discipline,
00:23:33or it's not a punishment that you would be aware about.
00:23:35This is kicking.
00:23:37He's kicking a girl student, possibly repeatedly,
00:23:40puts a pencil and then starts to slap her, beat her.
00:23:43This is a man doing it to a young female student, remember?
00:23:46And the board says,
00:23:47giving Islamic and formal education to these young minds.
00:23:51You don't instill fear in this manner.
00:23:53The CCTV's caught it.
00:23:55At least the accused, we are told,
00:23:56Muhammad Hasan Ali has been arrested,
00:23:58but it also needs an overhaul.
00:24:00You need discipline, but you need to follow guidelines.
00:24:02This is not instilling discipline.
00:24:04It's instilling fear in the mind of young girl students.
00:24:08Thank you very much, Nagarjun and Brinda Adige
00:24:10for the latest on this.
00:24:17Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, D.K. Shivkumar,
00:24:20made a comment that appears to have landed him in trouble.
00:24:22He said, Bengaluru cannot change.
00:24:25And the BJP has now rained fire on him.
00:24:28Basically, D.K. Shivkumar had said,
00:24:29I quickly quote it here,
00:24:30even if God himself descends from heaven
00:24:32and walks on the streets of Bengaluru,
00:24:34nothing will change.
00:24:35Within one or two or even three years.
00:24:39BJP has jumped in on that to say,
00:24:41neither do people have any expectations
00:24:43from you or your government.
00:24:45And then had gone on to add,
00:24:46as the BJP in opposition charging,
00:24:48saying that Congress government is a curse to Karnataka
00:24:51and Bengaluru especially.
00:24:53People are eagerly awaiting to throw away
00:24:55this hopeless Congress government.
00:24:57Let's listen in to the remarks that have come in first
00:24:59of D.K. Shivkumar,
00:25:00then we'll have our colleagues on the ground.
00:25:02D.K. Shivkumar, then we'll have our colleagues on the ground.
00:25:33Jundarkarnath joining me for the latest on that.
00:25:36Nagarjun, tell me this,
00:25:37because he's after all the Deputy Chief Minister,
00:25:39so he wouldn't need,
00:25:40make such an off-the-cuff remark.
00:25:42What was you,
00:25:43what was he trying to say,
00:25:44according to your understanding?
00:25:46Because the BJP is happy to jump on this right now.
00:25:50Well, the leader of opposition has already tweeted that,
00:25:52how can the Deputy Chief Minister
00:25:53and the insiders of Bangalore city himself,
00:25:56speak in such a tone?
00:25:57But D.K. Shivkumar was drawing a metaphor in fact that,
00:26:01how pathetic the city's conditions are
00:26:04in terms of infrastructure,
00:26:05the sewage, the road, the water, the BBMP.
00:26:08All this would not be,
00:26:10can be tackled in the next three years is what he said.
00:26:13We need overall development and infrastructure,
00:26:16the reboost is what D.K. Shivkumar said.
00:26:17So he was drawing a metaphor,
00:26:19but how pathetic the city's conditions are
00:26:21in terms of infrastructure,
00:26:22the sewage, the road, the water, the BBMP.
00:26:25So he was drawing a metaphor and then said that,
00:26:27even if the God comes down upon earth,
00:26:30he can't change the fate of Bangalore
00:26:32in the next three years,
00:26:32because it takes more than three years
00:26:34to construct a new city.
00:26:36And that's what D.K. Shivkumar meant.
00:26:38But nevertheless,
00:26:39the opposition is already saying that,
00:26:41how can Shivkumar speak in such a tone?
00:26:43Then he should rather not be a minister
00:26:44and just give up the portfolio to someone else.
00:26:46He's unable to maintain the infrastructure in Bangalore city
00:26:50and it's been crumbling as we speak.
00:26:53There have been roads that have been dug up
00:26:55for several months and still not patched up.
00:26:57And this is what the BJP is saying.
00:26:59But nevertheless,
00:27:00what D.K. was saying is that,
00:27:01he was drawing a metaphor,
00:27:02but it didn't go well with the opposition.
00:27:06Yes, Nagarjun, what was he referring to?
00:27:08Because the BJP says,
00:27:09the people are fed up with the Congress government.
00:27:11They are also waiting for a change.
00:27:13When he said,
00:27:14nothing will change,
00:27:15what did D.K. Shivkumar mean for?
00:27:17Did he mean civic issues?
00:27:19Did he mean people or more?
00:27:21It's civic issues and traffic.
00:27:23Now the government is planning to have
00:27:25one lakh crore invested in Bangalore city
00:27:28for an underground tunnel and double-decker flyovers
00:27:31and then new metro stations
00:27:32and metro rail and local train as well.
00:27:35If this has to be constructed,
00:27:37which will give a new face to the Bangalore city,
00:27:39it will take more than three years.
00:27:41In the next three years,
00:27:41even if God comes down to earth,
00:27:43nothing can be changed is what D.K. Shivkumar said.
00:27:46His intent was talking about how,
00:27:49no matter how much push you do,
00:27:50it would definitely take more than three years
00:27:52to get a new face to the Bangalore city.
00:27:54Stay on with me, Nagarjun.
00:27:56Stay on with me,
00:27:57because eventually you're in the government.
00:27:58That's exactly the responsibility
00:27:59that's been given to any leader.
00:28:01Joining me now is Prakash of the BJP.
00:28:04So why would the BJP say that
00:28:06people are also fed up of the Congress government
00:28:09and it's a curse
00:28:10and people are waiting to throw away
00:28:12this hopeless government?
00:28:14No, Mr. D.K. Shivkumar's statement
00:28:18clearly exemplifies his lack of political will
00:28:21to change the Bangalore city roads,
00:28:23situation of the Bangalore city roads.
00:28:25They had promised a moon to the people of Bangalore,
00:28:29but they are not able to deliver on their promise.
00:28:32They are only glorifying the projects
00:28:35like our tunnel roads, double-decker roads,
00:28:39white-tapping by spending thousands of crore rupees.
00:28:42He gives out a project worth more than a lakh rupees
00:28:46to change the face of the Bangalore,
00:28:49for those projects which is illogical,
00:28:51which will destroy the Bangalore demographic completely.
00:28:55It is very sad.
00:28:57D.K. Shivkumar is unable to understand the Bangalore needs
00:29:02and his focus is only on other things.
00:29:05It is because of that,
00:29:07the Bangaloreans are suffering today.
00:29:10The pathetic condition of the road
00:29:11is an insult to the people of Bangalore.
00:29:14And the government is not concerned about it at all.
00:29:18And the over and above saying that it is not possible
00:29:20to correct it even after two years is very shameful.
00:29:25And can the next government, if there is a change,
00:29:27will be able to change that?
00:29:28And will D.K. Shivkumar give a clarification on that?
00:29:31Thank you very much for now,
00:29:33S. Prakash and Nagarjun for the latest
00:29:34on what's unfolding in Karnataka.
00:29:37What do the people of Bengaluru say about this, I wonder?
00:29:39Do they also believe that nothing will be able to change?
00:29:42It's become worse.
00:29:43And perhaps, can anyone, any leader, any government
00:29:46be able to bring it back to how Bengaluru earlier was?
00:29:57Remember the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
00:29:59had given out orders that ahead of the Ramzan season
00:30:02that's coming in, that there would be concession
00:30:04and for those who are from the Muslim community
00:30:07as government employees will be given an hour early,
00:30:09possibly, if they intend to leave
00:30:10because they are fasting for 30 days.
00:30:12Karnataka's Congress Vice President
00:30:14is seeking now a similar concession.
00:30:17Karnataka's Congress Vice President says,
00:30:18I quote it here,
00:30:19we request the CM and Deputy CM to grant permission
00:30:22for people in Karnataka to also leave work early
00:30:24during the Ramzan fasting, like in Andhra and Telangana.
00:30:27We're not asking for holidays,
00:30:29only for permission to leave work early
00:30:31and to be able to break the fast and offer prayers.
00:30:33So let's listen in to what was said
00:30:35and could this add on to the showdown?
00:30:39In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh,
00:30:42for the Ramzan, for the Iftihar,
00:30:45the Ramzan that we fast,
00:30:49to leave early, we're not asking for concession,
00:30:52we're not asking for holidays,
00:30:54we're asking for an hour to go ahead
00:30:55to do Iftihar, to offer prayers,
00:30:58to give an opportunity,
00:30:59we're asking for permission from the State Chief Minister
00:31:03and Deputy Chief Minister.
00:31:07Nagarjun, Dwarkanath continues to be with us.
00:31:10Nagarjun, tell me this,
00:31:11because do you see the same response coming in
00:31:14from the opposition parties
00:31:16and perhaps from the Hindu groups as well,
00:31:18saying why only for one community?
00:31:20But is there an order already?
00:31:21Anything right now on the cards of it?
00:31:25The Karnataka government has not reacted
00:31:26to this request yet, Pooja.
00:31:28This is a request from the parties
00:31:30and not any MLA, MNC or any elected representative
00:31:33to the Chief Minister.
00:31:35This has been written by two vice presidents
00:31:37from the same minority community,
00:31:39asking to leave early from office
00:31:43and extra time to do prayers
00:31:45is what Hussain and Syed have told the Chief Minister.
00:31:49And quoting examples of Telangana government
00:31:51and the ANZ government,
00:31:52both, one is an India alliance,
00:31:54one is an NDA alliance,
00:31:55irrespective of which alliance,
00:31:56both the governments have allowed Muslims
00:31:59to go early to do their prayers and duties
00:32:02during the Ramadan month as well.
00:32:06Now the government will have to take a call,
00:32:07but what we are told within the government
00:32:09through our sources is that
00:32:11government is not considering any of it
00:32:13unless the pressure builds
00:32:14because Telangana and Andhra both have done.
00:32:16We'll have to wait and see if Chief Minister
00:32:18will act on it as of now.
00:32:20All right, Nagarjun will be tracking
00:32:22all the latest on that.
00:32:23So here's what the Congress vice president has said.
00:32:25Is it just a suggestion?
00:32:26Is this testing waters?
00:32:27And eventually the government will take a decision on it.
00:32:32Uttar Pradesh police has done a crackdown.
00:32:35This was on India Today's story.
00:32:36Remember, what women at home
00:32:38who were as devotees, pilgrims,
00:32:41taking a bath, taking a dip,
00:32:43their photographs were clicked
00:32:44specifically focusing on their private parts
00:32:47and trying to then sell these images
00:32:50as pornography material on social media,
00:32:52on digital sites.
00:32:54India Today's story and report has clearly
00:32:56shown that the government
00:32:58is not considering any of it.
00:33:00India Today's story and report has clearly
00:33:03taken the administration's focus as well.
00:33:05UP cops are indulging in a crackdown.
00:33:07Action against 17 handles.
00:33:09I want to immediately bring in Samar Srivastav
00:33:12for the latest on that.
00:33:13Samar, first to even think.
00:33:16Simar Chawla, I correct myself,
00:33:18is joining me now from Prayagraj.
00:33:20Simar, good morning.
00:33:21You know, one, it's so disturbing
00:33:23to even think that there would be these deranged minds
00:33:27at such a pious place
00:33:28to see women in that manner.
00:33:31You misuse that kind of freedom
00:33:33that women have at Prayagraj.
00:33:35How is the UP police now ensuring a crackdown on that?
00:33:44Indeed, Pooja, it's a shocking turn of events
00:33:47where we saw that how the videos
00:33:48of women taking bath at the ghats,
00:33:51holy ghats of Prayagraj were being sold online.
00:33:54And after these videos circulated,
00:33:56India Today, in fact, did a story on that
00:33:57and taking the cognizance of that.
00:33:59The UP police chief, Prashant Kumar,
00:34:01ordered the FIRs in this very particular matter.
00:34:04What we are being told by the police
00:34:05that day before yesterday,
00:34:06two FIRs were being registered
00:34:07against the social media accounts
00:34:09who were, in fact, sharing this video.
00:34:11And yesterday itself, 17, you know, accounts,
00:34:15the crackdown have been done on the 17 such accounts
00:34:17which were involved in the selling
00:34:18and both buying of the videos
00:34:20and also a stern warning has been given by the UP police
00:34:22against these kind of acts
00:34:25who have been sharing such explicit videos on the platform,
00:34:28saying that all who are involved
00:34:29in this very particular matter will be arrested.
00:34:32So, a big crackdown by the UP police,
00:34:35it was after, you know, UP police social media
00:34:38monitoring team came across several accounts
00:34:40on the Facebook, Instagram and also on the Telegram
00:34:43after which a report was sent
00:34:45based on which the FIR has been registered under the IT Act.
00:34:48What they have been seeing
00:34:49that there is a certain Telegram channel
00:34:52which has been offering money
00:34:53to the people, you know, who will be giving that videos
00:34:57and also involved in the purchasing
00:34:59and selling of such videos.
00:35:00It indeed is a very shocking incident
00:35:03that at this very holy point
00:35:04where people come, you know, take the holy bath,
00:35:06at that point of time,
00:35:08people are recording their videos
00:35:09and putting it on the social media platforms.
00:35:12It raises alarm,
00:35:13that's why the police have acted, you know, in a stern manner
00:35:17and also given a very harsh warning to the people
00:35:19that all will be arrested.
00:35:2117 FIR, remember, it has been registered as of now
00:35:24and the probe is on Pooja.
00:35:25Let's hope it's not just about FIRs and investigation.
00:35:28I would like to see these men
00:35:30who are involved in clicking pictures of devotees,
00:35:33female pilgrims like this, selling it online
00:35:35and it just reminds us of the kind of mind sometimes
00:35:39are even in the most pious of places.
00:35:41Simar, thank you very much.
00:35:42Now, remember it was India Today's exclusive investigation
00:35:45that has led to this crackdown here on.
00:35:49Oath ceremony is done, portfolios have been announced.
00:35:52It's now day one of back to business
00:35:55for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
00:35:56Now, a double-engined Sarkar in Delhi.
00:35:58MPs from BJP and the Delhi cabinet also with the BJP.
00:36:02These are the six ministers
00:36:04who will be led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
00:36:06Let me tell you about the portfolios.
00:36:08Let's begin with the Chief Minister.
00:36:09She's in charge of finance department,
00:36:11very crucial for Delhi government.
00:36:13Parvesh Verma, of course, one of the big guns who won,
00:36:16gets PWD, water ministry among others.
00:36:19Ashish Sood is holding education ministry.
00:36:22Ravi Indraj gets social welfare ministry.
00:36:24Manjinder Singh Sirsa will be in charge of environment.
00:36:27Remember, there are multiple ministries they have got.
00:36:29I'm telling you about some of the most significant ones.
00:36:32Kapil Mishra gets law and justice.
00:36:34Pankaj Singh has got health ministry.
00:36:37After holding the first cabinet meeting,
00:36:38Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announced that Ayushman Bharat scheme,
00:36:43which was blocked by the previous Aadmi Party government,
00:36:45will be implemented in Delhi again.
00:36:47And not just that, it could be a fiery assembly session
00:36:50in the Vidhan Sabha coming up.
00:36:5114 CAG reports details will be tabled by this BJP government.
00:36:56Now, the BJP has lashed out at Aadmi Party,
00:36:58saying they deliberately did not table the CAG reports.
00:37:01Meanwhile, former Delhi CM and Aadmi Party MLA
00:37:03from Kalkaji Atishi lashed out at Delhi government
00:37:05for not even discussing Samridhi Yojana
00:37:08in first cabinet meeting.
00:37:09It's the scheme by the BJP that promises
00:37:112,500 rupees per month to women.
00:37:16BJP CM Rekha Gupta announced that Ayushman Bharat scheme
00:37:18will be implemented in Delhi again.
00:37:20After holding the first cabinet meeting,
00:37:21Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announced that Ayushman Bharat scheme
00:37:24will be implemented in Delhi again.
00:37:26And not just that, it could be a fiery assembly session
00:37:28in the Vidhan Sabha coming up.
00:37:30Meanwhile, former Delhi CM and Aadmi Party MLA
00:37:33from Kalkaji Atishi lashed out at Delhi government
00:37:35for not even discussing Samridhi Yojana
00:37:37in first cabinet meeting.
00:37:40Meanwhile, former Delhi CM and Aadmi Party MLA
00:37:42from Kalkaji Atishi lashed out at Delhi government
00:37:45for not even discussing Samridhi Yojana
00:37:47in first cabinet meeting.
00:38:12for not even discussing Samridhi Yojana
00:38:14in first cabinet meeting.
00:38:42You cannot have a developed India
00:38:45without a developed capital.
00:39:13We have got a complete mandate.
00:39:14I think Delhi people have got the advantage
00:39:16of a double-engine government.
00:39:18This morning, Rekha Gupta said
00:39:21that in the first cabinet meeting,
00:39:24Rs 2,500 will be given to every woman in Delhi
00:39:27every month.
00:39:31But I am saddened by the fact that
00:39:34on the very first day of becoming a government,
00:39:38the BJP has started breaking its promises
00:39:42and cheating the Delhi people.
00:40:12Apart from that, many promises have been made
00:40:19by the BJP to the people of Delhi.
00:40:22And most likely, the government is also to start working on that.
00:40:26Because yesterday, during the cabinet meeting,
00:40:29two decisions have been taken by the cabinet.
00:40:32One is to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme in New Delhi,
00:40:36which has already been implemented.
00:40:38Then, the other one is to clear the way
00:40:41for tabling the CAG report in the first session of Vidhan Sabha.
00:40:46So, the cabinet has taken two decisions.
00:40:48As far as this CAG report is concerned,
00:40:50you would remember that the BJP had said that
00:40:52in the CAG report, it has been said that
00:40:54the Aam Aadmi Party leaders have done a lot of corruption.
00:40:57The amount also which was being quoted about
00:41:00Shishmail construction is also five times higher
00:41:03which was there in the report.
00:41:05So, we are now seeing how a political blame game
00:41:08continues to take place where the BJP is saying that
00:41:11yes, we are working on the other side.
00:41:13Aam Aadmi Party is claiming that
00:41:14the BJP government has started deceiving the people of Delhi.
00:41:17But yesterday, soon after taking the vote,
00:41:21we saw the entire cabinet first went to Yamuna, Ghat and then
00:41:25they took a decision of implementing Ayushman Bharat scheme.
00:41:27Let's be very clear.
00:41:28Delhi voters are watching as well.
00:41:30They know that they have elected the BJP for a reason.
00:41:33Now, the Yamuna river, no excuses, must be cleaned at the earliest.
00:41:37At least on agenda, the BJP is saying that
00:41:39that's what's going to happen in the next few months.
00:41:41Piyush, thank you very much for now.
00:41:42We'll be tracking all that and more.
00:41:44So, BJP government now in Delhi and the work begins
00:41:47and on agenda, a lot of issues especially of pollution and more.
00:41:52Meanwhile, there's a political war of words over the USAID funding for India.
00:41:56US President Donald Trump leveled a big charge
00:41:58over the USAID funding to India in the past as well.
00:42:01And based on that, BJP is doubling down on Congress and Rahul Gandhi.
00:42:05BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad levelling serious allegations
00:42:07against LOP in looks about Rahul Gandhi saying
00:42:10he has conspired to weaken Indian democracy.
00:42:13BJP sources are saying USAID gave $204 million
00:42:17to UPA government allegedly from 2004 to 2013
00:42:21and that Indian NGOs got about $2,000 million.
00:42:26But USAID funding, remember, stopped after 2015.
00:42:29NDA government says just received about $1.5 million
00:42:33but the funding interestingly for some of the non-government organisations
00:42:38increased multiple fold, over $2,000 million.
00:42:41Sources say the hike in funding to these NGOs
00:42:44coincided with Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2022
00:42:47and therefore it's suspicious.
00:42:49Now, the Congress Netas have also responded and said
00:42:51all these claims by Trump are nonsensical.
00:42:54Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh is urging Indian government
00:42:57to then bring out a white paper,
00:42:58have an investigation detailing USAID's support
00:43:02to both government and non-government organisations.
00:43:06So the slugfest clearly is on.
00:43:07There's been a spotlight, remember, on one of former USAID India chief Veena Reddy
00:43:12and during her tenure, what exactly happened?
00:43:15Meanwhile, senior advocate and BJP leader Mahesh J Malani says
00:43:19that there must be a probe.
00:43:21India must take it up with the USA
00:43:23about the allocation, not just of the USAID funding
00:43:25but this voter turnout $21 million that Doge has decided to pull back on.
00:43:30That and more in this report.
00:43:56she joined USAID's India office on August 5, 2021.
00:44:03She announced her return to the US on July 17, 2024,
00:44:08more than a month after the results for the Lok Sabha elections were announced.
00:44:14Before joining the US government as a Foreign Services Officer,
00:44:18Reddy was a corporate attorney in New York, London and Los Angeles.
00:44:23She has also been a member of Bar Councils of New York and California
00:44:27and has also served in USAID missions in Pakistan,
00:44:31the Central Asian Republics and Central America.
00:44:36With Trump's bomb-chill revelation,
00:44:38BJP leader and top lawyer Mahesh J Malani
00:44:42demanded an investigation into USAID funding and Veena Reddy's role.
00:44:48Well, India should certainly make a request for further details whether...
00:44:53There are only three questions which remain.
00:44:55An allocation was made, right, which President Trump, in his words,
00:45:01says were meant to bring about a change in government
00:45:04and we should tell the Indian government.
00:45:06Who are the people who made the allegation on behalf of USAID in India, right?
00:45:11And three, who are the people who received the allocated funds?
00:45:16We will know when this investigation takes place
00:45:18or where further information is communicated
00:45:21by the Trump administration to the Modi government.
00:45:26Net funds disbursements for Indian projects by USAID
00:45:29rose significantly during Reddy's tilt,
00:45:32jumping multi-fold to over $228 million
00:45:37or Rs 1,982 crores in 2022, the highest since 2001.
00:45:45According to the US State Department,
00:45:47during her nearly three years of tenure as the Mission Director,
00:45:51Veena Reddy oversaw various projects in fields of health,
00:45:55economic development, education, social services,
00:45:58democracy, human rights and governance.
00:46:04India Railways, Ministry of Power, Niti Aayog,
00:46:07National Power Training Institute and Power Sector Skill Council,
00:46:12NTPC, Green National Skills Development Corporation,
00:46:15Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,
00:46:19Atal Innovation Mission are among prominent government bodies
00:46:22that either signed fresh agreements or implemented USAID-funded programs
00:46:27during Reddy's tint in New Delhi.
00:46:31Will the USAID funds and Veena Reddy's role be probed now?
00:46:36With Shubham Tiwari, New Delhi, Bureau Report, India Today.
00:46:41India's latest panel, remember the one in controversy,
00:46:51will likely now record statements with the Mumbai Police.
00:46:54Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Makhija,
00:46:57host Samay Raina are in contact with Maharashtra Cyber Cell.
00:47:00The Cyber Cell has given them a certain time
00:47:02for all panelists to record their statements.
00:47:05We are told, remember, that Apoorva Makhija earlier had come
00:47:08to give a statement as well.
00:47:09The four individuals at least you're looking at
00:47:11and those who've been a fixed part of the show,
00:47:14including the host, will have to come and record their statements.
00:47:18Divyesh Singh is joining me on the phone line for the latest on that.
00:47:21Divyesh closely tracks the investigative agencies in Maharashtra.
00:47:24Divyesh, good morning.
00:47:26Does this mean that all of them will have to come together
00:47:29and has a time or date been decided on?
00:47:33Good morning, Pooja.
00:47:35India's got latent issue.
00:47:36Maharashtra Cyber had registered an FIR
00:47:38and since then, Maharashtra Cyber had issued summons
00:47:42to Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija,
00:47:45Ashish Chanchlani and 44 other people.
00:47:49Now, around four to five people have recorded their statements
00:47:54with Maharashtra Cyber.
00:47:55Remember, Maharashtra Cyber is not only investigating
00:47:59just one episode, the latest episode,
00:48:01which was aired on 8th of February, 2025,
00:48:05but they are investigating all the episodes of India's got latent
00:48:09and that is why they have booked all the guests,
00:48:11all the jury, all the participants who had been in all the episodes
00:48:17and that is why they have summoned all those people,
00:48:22around 40 to 50 people.
00:48:23Now, the latest episode where Ranveer Allahbadia,
00:48:27Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani have been booked,
00:48:31they were not responding to the summons issued by Maharashtra Cyber
00:48:37and now, what we've learned from the sources in Maharashtra Cyber
00:48:41is that now they have contacted to their legal counsel,
00:48:45to their advocates and they are ready to appear
00:48:49before Maharashtra Cyber to record their statements.
00:48:52Remember, a day back, Ranveer Allahbadia was reprimanded
00:48:58by the Supreme Court where he had filed a petition,
00:49:01but Supreme Court also gave him a relief
00:49:04that no more FIR should be registered against them
00:49:07and they should cooperate with the investigation.
00:49:09So, following the Supreme Court order,
00:49:12they are now cooperating with the investigation
00:49:14and will soon record their statements.
00:49:16As of now, it is not known who will appear today
00:49:20at the Maharashtra Cyber office, but some of them could...
00:49:23So, until we see them in person and come to record their statements,
00:49:27perhaps still incommunicado.
00:49:29However, the Maharashtra Cyber cell sources say
00:49:32that they are in touch with the panelists
00:49:34and perhaps at least the statement needs to be recorded soon,
00:49:37otherwise it could lead to a non-cooperation with the police
00:49:40with regard to the summons.
00:49:41Thank you very much, Divesh.
00:49:42I'll be coming back to you more on that as details emerge.
00:49:45Meanwhile, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has moved the Supreme Court
00:49:48seeking to quash or transfer the multiple FIRs
00:49:52that have been registered against him in Guwahati and in other areas.
00:49:55Remember, there are already FIRs in Mumbai.
00:49:57Chanchlani was one of the guests
00:49:59and who's been named in a case registered in Assam.
00:50:02Podcaster Ranveer Alabadia is the key accused
00:50:04because of the controversial comments on the YouTube show,
00:50:06India Got Latent.
00:50:07IT ministry, remember, has issued an advisory
00:50:10for the social media platforms
00:50:12to ensure access control for A-rated content,
00:50:15undertake age-based content classification.
00:50:18Because remember, unlike television or films,
00:50:20there's no clear guideline when it comes to the kind of content
00:50:24that needs to go on the digital platforms.
00:50:26They also directed the social media platform
00:50:28to prevent children from watching
00:50:30what may be deemed as inappropriate, obscene content,
00:50:34vulgar in nature,
00:50:35and strictly adhere to a certain code of ethics.
00:50:39US President Donald Trump is now claiming
00:50:41all is not well within the BRICS nation.
00:50:44Donald Trump is now saying that it appears BRICS have broken up.
00:50:49Donald Trump is claiming that the BRICS states just broke up.
00:50:52These are his specific words.
00:50:54After threatening to slap the BRICS block
00:50:56with very high tariffs.
00:50:58And remember, BRICS is where?
00:51:00India is one of the nations.
00:51:02Donald Trump is saying,
00:51:03we have not heard from the BRICS states lately.
00:51:06It is an amazing turnaround.
00:51:07Remember, especially with tariffs, for example,
00:51:09when it came to China.
00:51:12Now, India is a part of the BRICS as well.
00:51:14And therefore, what precisely led to that statement
00:51:18that came in from Donald Trump saying,
00:51:20haven't heard from them lately.
00:51:22Looks like that they have for now broken up.
00:51:26I just want to tell you,
00:51:27BRICS means, it's an inter-government organization.
00:51:3010 countries at least, more and more are adding.
00:51:32But initially, primarily is Brazil, Russia, India, China,
00:51:37and then South Africa.
00:51:39There are of course, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran,
00:51:41UAE, slowly and steadily, side partners that are coming in.
00:51:45Shivani Sharma joins me for the latest on that.
00:51:49Remember that Shivani,
00:51:51BRICS has been a very important group together,
00:51:53that they can build together.
00:51:55And this is without the United States of America.
00:51:57It wasn't really going down well with the USA earlier too.
00:52:00What is this claim that Trump is making?
00:52:02What do you make of it?
00:52:05See Pooja, Donald Trump has been quite vocal
00:52:08and has been quite harsh on the BRICS nation.
00:52:13And this is his second such threat
00:52:15that he's given to the BRICS nation.
00:52:18He's saying that BRICS nations have broken up
00:52:21and he also says that he'll be levying
00:52:23150% tariff on BRICS nation.
00:52:25He's also putting some charges on the BRICS nation
00:52:28that they wanted to destroy the dollar.
00:52:29We know that the worry of Trump has been
00:52:33the dominance of the US dollar in the international exchanges
00:52:37and he doesn't want to lose that.
00:52:39And BRICS nations have been working together, Pooja,
00:52:42for a better understanding between nations
00:52:45in terms of economic trade, economic exchanges.
00:52:49And what Trump has been saying
00:52:51is saying that he'll be taxing the BRICS nation
00:52:54to maintain US dollar dominance.
00:52:56So we've heard what Trump has been saying
00:52:59about the economy of America.
00:53:02He claims to make America great again
00:53:04and this is one of his perspectives
00:53:06where he has been levying harsh tariff over nation
00:53:10and BRICS is also one of them that he's been threatening.
00:53:14So clearly he's after the BRICS
00:53:15and especially because the USA is not a part of it.
00:53:18But can the BRICS nations, despite their differences,
00:53:20stay together on this one?
00:53:21We'll be tracking that and more.
00:53:24Let's move on now.
00:53:25However, there's been a big update
00:53:26with regard to the Trump administration.
00:53:28One of his big loyalists, Kash Patel,
00:53:30is officially now the FBI director.
00:53:33Kash, or basically Kashia Patel,
00:53:34was confirmed by United States of America Senate.
00:53:37So even though, of course,
00:53:38already suggested appointed by Donald Trump,
00:53:40there's a protocol that needs to be followed.
00:53:42He's now been approved as a unanimous choice
00:53:44for the Federal Bureau of Investigation's chief role.
00:53:47This is a big position that's coming in
00:53:50for an Indian origin, Kash Patel.
00:53:52Vowing to make the FBI an accountable
00:53:54and transparent organization,
00:53:55Kash Patel says his mission will be
00:53:57to rebuild trust in the FBI
00:53:59and he's in fact warned anyone looking to harm America
00:54:02that they will be hunted down.
00:54:04And this, remember, very different
00:54:07from earlier FBI positions that have been given.
00:54:10Kash Patel, you should know,
00:54:11kickstarted his career as a public prosecutor,
00:54:14was a terrorism prosecutor as well
00:54:15with the Department of Justice,
00:54:17oversaw the prosecution of Al-Qaeda,
00:54:19ISIS terrorists during his tenure.
00:54:21In fact, he was born in New York
00:54:23to Gujarati origin parents in 1980
00:54:26who had migrated to the United States of America.
00:54:31So this, remember, is the political aspect of it.
00:54:34But maybe because of the Indian origin connect,
00:54:38this is the welcome that Kash Patel got
00:54:40from a White House deputy chief,
00:54:42a White House official,
00:54:44sharing this welcoming him into the FBI.
00:54:46Let's listen in to this Bollywood meme.
00:55:10Well, for now, Kash Patel becomes the Bollywood hero.
00:55:40Let's just hope he becomes a hero
00:55:41with regard to FBI and the USA,
00:55:43but also a reminder of how popular
00:55:45Indian and Hindi film music is.
00:55:47This time, Ranveer Singh's choice of film
00:55:49and has been even shared by White House officials.
00:56:01India's external affairs minister,
00:56:03Dr. Ajay Shankar meeting Russian finance minister
00:56:06at, Russian foreign minister,
00:56:07I correct myself,
00:56:08at the G20 calling for peace.
00:56:10Jai Shankar discussing the Russia-Ukraine war with Lavrov.
00:56:14The external affairs minister has reiterated
00:56:16strong support for humanitarian assistance,
00:56:18emphasizing the importance of two-state solution
00:56:21to ensure long-term peace.
00:56:23Remember, Russia-Ukraine still at war.
00:56:25India has maintained an independent policy
00:56:27with both Russia and Ukraine.
00:56:28We share a cultural people-to-people's bridge
00:56:31with both Ukraine and Russia,
00:56:33even since it was part of the USSR.
00:56:35And importantly, remember,
00:56:36Russia has been one of the big trade partners,
00:56:38one of the biggest defense partners for India.
00:56:41So therefore, that relationship being maintained.
00:56:43Singh, however, the importance of the two-state solution
00:56:47ensure long-term peace and humanitarian assistance.
00:56:49I want to immediately bring in Shivani Sharma,
00:56:52closely tracks the defense sector.
00:56:54Tell me this, Shivani,
00:56:56what does this mean when he says
00:56:58humanitarian assistance support
00:57:00and importance of two-state solution
00:57:02ensure long-term peace?
00:57:04Tell us more about this meeting.
00:57:07Pooja, Dr. S.J. Shankar is in Johannesburg
00:57:10for the G20 foreign ministers meeting
00:57:12and he's been meeting his counterparts.
00:57:14And very important out here is to mention,
00:57:16he's been meeting the Russian foreign minister,
00:57:18the Chinese foreign minister,
00:57:19and he's been reiterating
00:57:21what is India's stand on key global issues.
00:57:24He has also welcomed the Middle East crisis
00:57:27where the Gaza ceasefire has happened
00:57:29and the hostage release has happened.
00:57:31And India has always been a peacemaker.
00:57:34That's what is being kept by Dr. S.J. Shankar
00:57:37on this world forum too.
00:57:38And he has kept his very clear stand
00:57:41that these countries,
00:57:42they must be the decision makers.
00:57:44They should not take a light interest
00:57:46in the issues of the area,
00:57:48the situation that's going around their region.
00:57:52But they should make peace.
00:57:53They should come up together
00:57:55for humanitarian assistance.
00:57:57That's what India has also been doing.
00:57:59Be it the maritime security
00:58:01and the Indo-Pacific area
00:58:03or the Middle East crisis
00:58:05or the Ukraine conflict that goes on.
00:58:08So on all these things,
00:58:09Dr. S.J. Shankar has reaffirmed
00:58:11India's consistent stance
00:58:13that we must dialogue,
00:58:15we must urge for dialogue and diplomacy,
00:58:18and we always must rise against terrorism
00:58:22and for humanitarian assistance.
00:58:24All right, we'll be tracking that and more.
00:58:26Thank you very much Shivani
00:58:27for all the updates coming in
00:58:29with regard to this G20 meeting.
00:58:34Nine-month-old Kifir and four-year-old Ariel
00:58:37had become the face of the hostage crisis
00:58:39when Hamas took them away from their home
00:58:42while they were clutching to their mother.
00:58:44Now, Hamas has returned them
00:58:46as dead bodies back to Israel.
00:58:49I was praying that these children
00:58:51with their mother could return home alive,
00:58:53but sadly that hasn't happened.
00:58:55They were murdered in Hamas captivity.
00:58:58But that's not it.
00:58:59There were guns, coffins, and a chilling display.
00:59:02Hamas put a spectacle of these little dead bodies
00:59:05which were being returned to Israel.
00:59:07There's been a lot of outrage and uproar over it.
00:59:10What exactly happened?
00:59:11Here's a special report.
00:59:19A chilling and grotesque display.
00:59:23Hamas terrorists stage a public ceremony
00:59:25near Khan Yunis, Gaza
00:59:27before returning the bodies
00:59:29of four Israeli hostages.
00:59:31Among them were Shiri Bibbas and her two young sons,
00:59:34Kifir and Ariel,
00:59:36whose fate had remained unknown
00:59:38since their abduction on October 7, 2023.
00:59:42Kifir Bibbas was just nine months old
00:59:45at the time of his capture
00:59:46and was the youngest hostage taken by Hamas
00:59:49during the October 7 attack.
00:59:52His older brother, Ariel, was only four years old.
00:59:56The fourth victim was 83-year-old Oded Lifshitz.
01:00:00The handover was not just a transfer of remains
01:00:08but a gruesome display orchestrated for propaganda.
01:00:12The four bodies were presented in black coffins
01:00:15on a stage adorned with banners
01:00:17as thousands, including armed Hamas terrorists,
01:00:20gathered to witness the event.
01:00:24The large poster was hung up at the handover site,
01:00:27depicting Netanyahu
01:00:29as the vampire standing over images of the four hostages.
01:00:33It read,
01:00:34the war criminal Netanyahu and his Nazi army
01:00:37killed them with missiles from Zionist warplanes.
01:00:45Red Cross staff walked to the stage
01:00:47where the four coffins were laid out,
01:00:48surrounded by masked Hamas militants
01:00:51and signed papers as part of the handover
01:00:54before they were carried to their vehicles.
01:00:59Each of the caskets had a small picture of the hostages.
01:01:29I mean, I don't even think we thought
01:01:31that the babies were alive for a long time,
01:01:33but I feel terrified that our government
01:01:40is going to continue not making the right decisions
01:01:43to end the war.
01:01:44I feel sad for our society
01:01:49and I feel devastated for the families.
01:01:52Today is going to be a very sad day
01:01:54to the state of Israel
01:01:56because we had a lot of casualties.
01:02:00The Hamas raped, burned, killed, massacred
01:02:04a lot of women, men and children
01:02:08in October 7th, 23.
01:02:10But we knew about those hostages,
01:02:12the Bibas family,
01:02:14we saw them being taken alive
01:02:17and captured by the Hamas
01:02:20and the lies that they're trying to spread
01:02:23around the world today
01:02:24that supposedly they died
01:02:26because Israeli bombed in Gaza
01:02:28and they got killed.
01:02:30It's the biggest lie.
01:02:33They just massacred and murdered those people.
01:02:36There's no mercy with those people.
01:02:39The handover marks the first return of dead bodies
01:02:42during the current agreement.
01:02:47Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office
01:02:50confirmed the names of the four hostages
01:02:53whose bodies were returned.
