00:00The local government of Quezon City has launched an attack against Dengue.

00:06This is after Dengue cases in the city increased by 200%

00:11where the majority of the infected are children.

00:20Kokoy has been confined in the hospital for 3 days.

00:22She is 17 years old.

00:24Her name is not her real name.

00:26A high school student who studies in Quezon City was infected by Dengue.

00:30I had a fever and it was painful.

00:33I felt like I had a thorn in my stomach.

00:36It's been a week already.

00:39Kokoy is among the 1,800 people who were infected by Dengue in Quezon City this year.

00:44The data is higher by almost 200% compared to the previous year at the same time.

00:50Because of the continuous increase in the number of cases,

00:52the city declared a Dengue outbreak.

00:55Most children become victims of Dengue.

00:58Of the almost 1,800 cases, 58% are between the ages of 5 and 17.

01:04Kokoy was confined in the school where she was infected by Dengue.

01:08There were mosquitoes and plants.

01:12We are looking at the constant flooding.

01:16The number of breathing sites around the city is increasing.

01:25Possibly, Dengue virus is spreading.

01:30Less than 1% of the cases are fatalities.

01:44The Quezon City government called all 142 captains.

01:49They will conduct clean-up drives and mosquito fogging.

01:52More than 60 health centers in Quezon City were opened every day and every weekend.

01:58Dengue test kits are also free in health centers and hospitals.

02:02Quezon City is also conducting an information campaign to avoid Dengue tips

02:07such as finding and cleaning mosquito bites, wearing long sleeves,

02:12using mosquito repellent, and drinking water.

02:15The Department of Health's campaign against Dengue is also ongoing,

02:18especially now that it is raining heavily in some parts of the country.

02:21Based on the latest D.O.H. data from January 1 to February 1, 2025,

02:26there are more than 28,000 cases of Dengue in the country.

02:30This is more than 40% higher than last year in the same month.
