00:00Good morning. It's a bit of a wet start for some of us today and there will be some winteriness around, some sleet, some snow, even a bit of freezing rain to watch out for.
00:10The greatest risk will be across some parts of northern north-eastern England, particularly towards the east of the Pennines here, we're most likely to see some snow building up.
00:18We're talking above 200 metres or so, we could see a few centimetres here or there, maybe a little bit to lower levels as well.
00:25There's also, like I say, some freezing rain around, particularly over the Pennines and so we could see some fairly difficult driving conditions with some icy surfaces, watch out for those.
00:34Even elsewhere across into parts of Scotland there's some sleet, some hill snow around and the potential for some freezing rain as well.
00:40So it's not just in this chunk of northern England where we currently have a warning where there could be some hazards.
00:45Otherwise, like I said, a wet start for quite a few places.
00:48Rain continuing as we go through the day across many parts of Wales, the Midlands and some outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow feeding in across eastern parts of Scotland as well.
00:56A bit damp at times across Northern Ireland but gradually seeing things turning a little bit drier, maybe even some glimmers of sunshine breaking through.
01:03But it's actually in the south-west here I am expecting some decent sunshine through the afternoon as the cloud, the rain clears away towards the north-east.
01:11In the south-east, staying largely dry, a few spots of rain but quite cloudy.
01:15And actually across northern western Scotland, some decent sunshine to be had as well.
01:19Temperatures, well, they are going to still be a little bit below average for the time of year, particularly towards the east.
01:25And here you're stuck under the cloud with the rain, the sleet, the snow, so feeling pretty chilly indeed.
01:29Further west, some milder air pushing in, picking temperatures up and so good chance that some parts of Cornwall, for example, just about getting into double figures.
01:39As we go overnight, there will be some further rain on offer, maybe even a bit more sleet and snow over the higher ground.
01:45I think across parts of Northern Ireland, a bit damp and then there's kind of chunks of rain across parts of Northern England down into East Anglia
01:53and also eastern parts of Scotland, north-east England as well, seeing some outbreaks.
01:57Other places though, having some drier, clearer weather.
02:00And where we get some clearer skies, we may see a touch of mist, a touch of fog developing.
02:05Temperatures dropping a little bit, but worth bearing in mind, we have some milder air towards the west, so that will stop temperatures from dropping especially low.
02:12Nonetheless, under any clear breaks, we could get a touch of frost in a few places, but it's not going to be especially harsh.
02:19And then through tomorrow, yes, there will be some rain, even a bit of sleet and hill snow around through the morning.
02:25But I think as we go through the day, a lot of that rain is going to break up across the eastern side of the UK.
02:30So still a few spots for sure and it is going to remain pretty cloudy, but turning drier as we go through the day.
02:36Probably the driest day of the weekend for many places.
02:39But towards the west, there's a frontal system trying to push its way and doesn't make much progress eastwards.
02:44And the rain association with this doesn't look particularly heavy, pushing into parts of Northern Ireland and then later the far west of Scotland, England and Wales.
02:52Like I said, it is going to be pretty cloudy.
02:54There will probably be some glimmers of sunshine, maybe towards southwest, northwest Scotland, for example, and even elsewhere, some breaks in the cloud.
03:01But once again, temperatures a little bit on the chilly side, especially towards the east, that little bit milder further west.
03:07Now, as we go into next week, there is obviously some uncertainty, but I think we can expect a bit of a change.
03:14There is going to be some wetter weather trying to come in from the west and that's going to bash against the more settled but colder air towards the east.
03:23And eventually there will be a transition exactly when it happens.
03:27That's where the uncertainty is.
03:29But nonetheless, we can expect our temperatures to gradually trend up as we do transition to something a bit more mobile coming in from the west.
03:36But exactly how long that takes, well, that's still all to play for.
03:40As a result, definitely worth staying up to date with the forecast.
