00:12Diesel prices are expected to decrease next month while petrol prices may rise slightly
00:17following a decision by the Ministry of Energy to stop subsidizing fuel prices, according
00:22to Mater al-Mayadi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and chairman of its new
00:26Gasoline and Diesel Prices Committee. He expects the decision will have a positive
00:31impact on the economy. Starting August 1, a government committee will set fuel prices
00:36every month. Prices will be announced on the 28th of every month and will be based on international
00:41averages.
00:42Suspected Boko Haram attacks left more than 50 people dead. Twin suicide attacks in Marua,
00:47northern Cameroon, killed at least 11, while some 42 lost their lives in a series of blasts
00:53at two bus stations in Gombe, northern Nigeria. The latest atrocities came after Boko Haram
00:58released a new video on Twitter maintaining they were not defeated and vowing, we will
01:03be coming from where you never expected, stronger than before.
01:07Bill Cosby lost his latest bid to fend off a lawsuit accusing him of sexually abusing
01:11a 15-year-old girl at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 1974, as the California
01:16Supreme Court denied the comedian's petition to review the case. The accuser's attorney,
01:22Gloria Allred, said the decision cleared the way for litigation brought by Judy Huth,
01:26now in her 50s, to proceed, and that she intended to take Cosby's sworn deposition within the
01:31next 30 days.
01:33Dubai label Talamamo won the regional Wal-Mart prize on Wednesday night. Talamamo, founded
01:39by Yago Goethe-Chir and Riccardo Odissio, presented a collection inspired by English
01:43writer Gertrude Bell's travels across the Middle East. The label will represent the
01:48Middle East, India and Pakistan in the womenswear category at the annual international award,
01:53considered one of the most prestigious in the world. Indian designer Suket Deer and
01:57his eponymous label will represent the region for menswear.
02:01And finally, the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 43 degrees Celsius, dropping
