00:00There's no guide to how to make it, and I think anybody who thinks they've got the formula
00:13to success in life is so deluded.
00:14You know, you're just in the right place at the right time, you got lucky and you worked
00:15hard.
00:16You may have a bit of talent, that's great, but you know, there's somebody with more talent
00:17somewhere.
00:18So there's no hard or fast rules to it.
00:19The only thing I've really, really learned to do is to make it.
00:20It's something I couldn't stress more highly, is the ability to be kind and to have empathy
00:42is everything.
00:43You know, your manners and the way you treat people, eye contact, a smile, being able to
00:49put yourself in someone else's shoes for a second is going to change, not just their
00:54day, but your day.
00:55And all I know is that I'm in a business where you walk into a room and I'm surrounded by
01:02complete strangers.
01:03I don't have, you know, the luxury of getting to know people and having weeks and weeks
01:10together.
01:11That's quite a cathartic thing, because I need them to care about me and I need to care
01:15about them, because by the end of eight hours, we've got to have produced something quite
01:20significant.
01:21You can't do that if you're guarded, you're shy, you're unsure.
01:25You know, you've really got to open up and that requires a kind of empathy and kindness.
01:32I didn't realise, you know, I was doing this purely selfishly for my own sake, because
01:37it made my life easier, but of course you start to realise that every day you're getting
01:42pearls of wisdom.
01:43You're getting some joy and beauty from people and everybody's got it to give to you, and
01:48I think I've realised it's more important than anything in this business, because none
01:52of us just stand on our own.
01:54So those are my pearls of wisdom and just, you know, keep your feet in good shape, because
01:59they're not going to last forever.
