00:00PhilHealth is calling for more medical clinics to be accredited as consulta facilities.

00:06This will allow for a wider range of free medical services for Filipinos,

00:11especially with new medical benefits this year.

00:20PhilHealth has admitted that consulta facilities are still lacking in the country.

00:25That is why they are now pushing for more medical clinics in the country to be included in their program.

00:33Especially now that in 2025, there will be four new benefits that they will implement.

00:41In Kapihan in Bagong, Philippines, the Philippine Information Agency called Dr. Bernadette C. Lico,

00:49who is the Vice President of PhilHealth National Capital Region at Rizal Province,

00:53for medical clinics to be accredited so that PhilHealth will be able to provide more free medical services

01:02for Filipinos under its consulta package program.

01:06For example, here in the National Capital Region,

01:09more than 800 consulta facilities are needed to cater for the 17 million population.

01:16However, only 468 consulta facilities are available.

01:21This is only 15% of the current number of accredited consulta facilities in the country.

01:27Dr. Lico also said that it is easy to accredit a medical facility as a consulta facility.

01:34This is important so that consulta facilities will increase.

01:40In 2025, there will be new benefits that will be implemented,

01:43such as dental care or preventive oral health services as part of primary care.

01:49Child care or pediatric optometric services for ages 0 to 15 years old,

01:56outpatient emergency care benefits, and assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, and many more.

02:05So our challenge now, since we have a lot of changes,

02:09like optometric services, consulta providers have not yet declared their accreditation.

02:17So consulta providers, if they have optometric services capability,

02:23they will just add to their accreditation to enhance their package, including optometric services.

02:33We will be needing around 800 plus to cater for all 17 million in NCRDZ.

02:40And currently, we have more than 400.

02:43According to PhilHealth, schools can accredit medical facilities.

02:51In February 2014, PhilHealth will start accepting applications

02:57for medical clinics that want to be accredited under the consulta facility.
