00:00House Speaker Martin Ruvaldes congratulated those who helped in arranging the session of the House of Representatives.

00:20We did not retreat from the camp of evil.

00:25Ours is a Congress that does not shy away from its responsibility to our people.

00:33We are not here to protect the powerful.

00:36We are here to serve the people,

00:39to stand for what is just,

00:42and to ensure that no one is beyond the reach of the law.

00:46This is the message of House Speaker Martin Ruvaldes in the arranging of the session of the House of Representatives last night.

00:52Before recess, Congressmen impeached Vice President Sara Duterte

00:57and they conducted high-profile investigations,

01:00such as spreading fake news on social media,

01:04high prices of electricity and electricity bills,

01:06and discussions on drug war and human rights extrajudicial killings during the administration.

01:12He confirmed that they did not retreat.

01:16Responsibility is not avoided.

01:21We have exercised our oversight functions with boldness and resolve,

01:27exposing inefficiencies, dismantling injustices,

01:33and holding accountable those who betray the public trust.

01:39No institution is greater than the Republic.

01:44No ambition is above the Constitution.

01:49And no one, no matter how powerful,

01:52is immune from the will of the people.

01:56Congressmen conducted various hearings yesterday before the session break.

02:01In the second reading,

02:03they discussed how to promote the privileges and benefits of senior citizens in the country,

02:09how to strengthen the mechanisms in cases,

02:13and how to build a comprehensive civil registration and vital statistics system in the country.

02:19They also discussed the bicameral conference reports on how to postpone the BARMM election,

02:26how to strengthen the early childhood care and development system,

02:29and how to improve safety measures and penalties in the operation of motorcycles in the country.

02:43Development does not wane with time.

02:46It strengthens. It sharpens.
