00:00The number of Filipinos with jobs remains high this October.

00:04This is even though the next storm has affected the labor force of the country.

00:09And according to the Philippine Statistics Authority,

00:12it is expected to recover this holiday season.

00:15Rod Lagusan is in the center of the news.

00:20The Philippine Statistics Authority's unemployment rate has been recorded.

00:24Based on the data from the October 2024 Labor Force Survey,

00:28the number of unemployed Filipinos in the country is at 3.9% or 1.97 million.

00:34Compared to 4.7% in July, or 2.38 million Filipinos are unemployed.

00:40The number of unemployed Filipinos is down by more than 400,000.

00:43According to PSA National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa,

00:49the impact of the number of unemployed Filipinos is the next wave of storms.

00:53In particular, the number of jobs in the fisheries and aquaculture industry is at 190,000.

01:00What we can see are the typhoons.

01:03Of course, our fisherfolks are cautious to go out because of the storms.

01:11And we can see that the typhoon has contributed to the subsectors where our employed persons are.

01:20It is possible that this will also happen in the month of November due to the continuous increase of typhoons.

01:25But by December, PSA hopes that the situation will get better.

01:29Because our activities in December are mostly retail trade, accommodation, and food service activities.

01:40What we can see is that there is an increase there.

01:45Usually, in the last quarter, October, November, December, in the past,

01:50there was an increase in the number of employed persons.

01:53According to this, the number of unemployed Filipinos increased by more than 450,000.

01:58From 47.7 million or 95.3% in July, the number of unemployed Filipinos is at 48.16 million or 96.1% in October.

02:09The industry of administrative and support service activities, accommodation and food service activities, transportation and storage, and construction has recorded a large number of unemployed Filipinos.
