00:00The number of Filipinos with jobs increased this October based on the report of the Philippine Statistics Authority, PSA.

00:20Alan, from 95.8 percent in October 2023, the number of Filipinos with jobs in the country increased this October 2024,
00:31to 96.1 percent or 48.6 million Filipinos.
00:36The number of Filipinos without jobs decreased to 3.9 percent from 4.2 percent in October 2023,
00:45while the number of underemployed increased to 12.6 percent from 11.7 percent compared to October 2023, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority or PSA.
00:58Explained by the National Statistician News Sector, Dennis Mapa, the increase in the number of underemployed rate is the effect of the following typhoons.
01:08In some places in the country, particularly in Baguio, Julian, Cristin, and Leon, which are affected by fishing activities, resulting in a slow increase in the number of fishermen.
01:20Aside from this, some workers are also considering having extra jobs, resulting in longer working hours to have a higher salary,
