00:00The government believes that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s bank administration will bear fruit

00:07so that the Filipinos will be able to provide a decent income.

00:11This is confirmed by the high number of Filipinos who had jobs in February.

00:18Based on the Philippine Statistics Authority,

00:20this is Christian Bascones of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.

00:25Alan, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that the number of Filipinos

00:32in the labor force increased in February this year.

00:35While there is good news in the country's situation

00:39about the number of workers in the Philippines this year.

00:48According to the latest labor force survey,

00:50the number of Filipinos in the labor force in February 2025 reached 51.09 million.

00:56This is higher than 50.75 million in February 2034

01:00and 50.65 million in January this year.

01:03This is equivalent to 64.5% of the labor force participation rate

01:08which is higher than last year.

01:11The number of employees in the country also increased.

01:14From 48.49 million in January 2025,

01:17it increased to 49.15 million in February this year.

01:22This is equivalent to 96.2% of the employment rate

01:26which shows that there are 668,000 Filipinos who have jobs within a month.

01:31It reached 11,220 households and 31,261 individuals

01:37who are 15 years older than the survey in the country.

01:42The election season is also important

01:45because political organizations are opening opportunities for the workers.

01:54We can see that we are going to pick up more employees

01:59because of the political organization,

02:02the employees of the political organization, which is about 41,000.

02:05So, we can see that,

02:09and yes, most probably this will continue until May.

02:14And that, in a way, induces seasonality.

02:19But it is not substantial.

02:21There is an increase but it is not that big.

02:24Of course, we still have core areas like our services sector,

02:30wholesale and retail trade,

02:32particularly in food and accommodation service activities.

02:35So, the increase is bigger there.

02:37While there are increases because of the election season,

02:42there are still other areas where it also contributed

02:47a relatively large number of employed persons.

02:50Our manufacturing, of course, increased.

02:52But, of course, moving forward, we will also be looking at this

02:57in the light of the current situation in the world trade.

03:02The PSA reported that the underemployment rate in the country

03:06decreased from 10.1% in February 2035 to 12.4% in February 2034.

03:13The number of jobs continued to improve,

03:16where 1.7 million full-time employees were added,

03:201.1 million for middle and high professionals were added,

03:24and 151,000 jobs were added as full-time and regular employees.

03:29This shows that the situation in terms of job creation in the country

03:33continues to improve.

03:35Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

03:38also announced his opposition to improving the number of opportunities

03:42for Filipino workers after the latest labor force survey

03:47showed that the underemployment rate in the country decreased.

03:50Alan also said that the government will continue to implement projects

03:56that will create quality jobs for Filipinos

03:59with the aim of increasing investments,

04:03strengthening businesses, and continuing large infrastructure projects

04:07when it comes to energy, transportation, and digital connectivity here in the country.
