00:00Two huge deals have already happened.
00:04Nick, how many more are there?
00:07Yeah, where's our big deal?
00:09Yeah.
00:10I mean, come on.
00:10The three of us have been wondering that for
00:12Yeah.
00:13A long, long time.
00:15If I put the over-under at a half
00:18in terms of blockbuster deals the rest of the way
00:23between now and Thursday at noon.
00:24And you're talking about an all-star caliber play.
00:27I'm talking about like what we just saw.
00:29Well, cause those are two blockbusters, right?
00:31I'm talking blockbuster here.
00:33I'm not.
00:34Not the video.
00:34I'm not talking Vucevich.
00:35Yeah.
00:36Get your card.
00:37Yeah, and get that third video for free on Friday nights.
00:39But anyway, throw that back.
00:41By the way, real quick, knockout tournament keyword,
00:44the knockout tournament, Chase Center, March 3rd.
00:49Be with us, shoot hoops, play the game, all of that.
00:52The keyword is coming just after four o'clock,
00:55which is 11 minutes away.
00:57Okay, over-under at a half of another blockbuster deal.
01:02You take the over, the under.
01:03I would probably take the under.
01:05Wow, no deal.
01:07And that's no fun.
01:08I say that because I was feeling like it would
01:13be one of those trade deadlines
01:16where you had a couple moves but nothing that was insane.
01:19Then we all know what's happened the last couple days.
01:22So I would still lean under.
01:24The funny part though, Mark,
01:26is I think the Warriors will make some kind of deal,
01:29but what everybody wants is for the blockbuster to hit.
01:31Right, they want Kevin Durant.
01:32And I just don't see that being what ends up happening.
01:37But it is really intriguing always to watch
01:42how other teams' moves make other people feel
01:47within the league.
01:48And if that does change anything up,
01:50I would still be surprised though
01:52if we're at a half as the line.
01:56I wouldn't feel comfortable throwing it back on the over.
01:59Yeah, and I guess if you want to talk about
02:01who would be the most likely of those players
02:04that Mark's talking about,
02:05and we've got Jimmy Butler,
02:08you've got Paul George, Kevin Durant.
02:10These are the players of that ilk.
02:12Certainly LeBron James, I guess,
02:14would be another all-star caliber.
02:16Bradley Beal could be on the move.
02:18Are there any of those names that you think,
02:20I know Jimmy Butler would be the most likely
02:22just because he's begging to be traded out of Miami,
02:25but anybody else on that list?
02:27Take all your fancy in terms of
02:30possibilities to be dealt.
02:31I think it's Jimmy on that list,
02:34Mr. Dibbs, and everybody else.
02:37Could we see some sort of scenario where Kevin gets moved?
02:41We've kind of outlined that.
02:43Paul George, whoever the name is,
02:48it's fun to kind of think about the possibilities,
02:52but in reality, there is so much hype
02:55around Jimmy getting out of there
02:57that he would have to be the guy you would look at
03:00and go, all right, this is probably the one,
03:04but every time that we've ever seen the NBA
03:08lean on one guy that we're sure is gonna get moved,
03:11how many other times do then we get three or four
03:13other corresponding moves where you go,
03:15well, nobody saw that happening.
03:17Where the hell did that come from?
03:19I still think the odds are pretty high
03:22that Jimmy is dealt.
03:24The issue that I would see there is that Pat Riley
03:27is a stubborn old dude who's been in the league
03:30pretty much his entire professional life.
03:33At some point, maybe he just looks at Jimmy and says,
03:36you know what, get out of here completely.
03:39I'm not giving you what you want.
03:41We're not getting back what we need.
03:44Have fun sitting out for four months.
03:46I mean, it's always felt that way, quite frankly.
03:48We're down to about 50 hours,
03:52and he's still there, so I totally get that.
03:56Nick, what does this all mean for LeBron James,
03:59and what do you think is gonna happen next?
04:01I think at least for this year into the summer,
04:05he's gotta feel like, all right, I'm gonna stay,
04:09and let's see how this plays out.
04:11But Mark, if there ever was a time,
04:15there ever was a time to try and think through
04:18the scenario of would LeBron go somewhere else,
04:22I mean, this goes back to when I first got here in 2018.
04:25Oh, what about LeBron, what about LeBron,
04:27what about LeBron and Steph?
04:29If LeBron was ever gonna move,
04:32you would think it would be after this season
04:34where he thinks, all right, maybe I have one year left,
04:37because that's what it's always felt like to me.
04:39I can't speak for anybody else,
04:41that he was gonna play out this year,
04:43he was gonna see where he was at and play one more season.
04:47If he enjoys playing with Luka,
04:49there's no reason for him to go.
04:51He's talked about how comfortable his family is,
04:53Ronnie's there, you can say whatever you want about Ronnie,
04:57it's LeBron James' son, he gets to play with his son,
05:01travel with his son pretty much
05:04throughout the entirety of the season.
05:06I don't think he's gonna end up leaving Los Angeles.
05:09But if the partnership between Luka and LeBron
05:12doesn't look very good over these next few months
05:16now that the deal has happened,
05:17if ever there was a time to get LeBron,
05:20whether it was here or anywhere else,
05:23now's the time to start thinking about that.
05:26The issue though, guys, is LeBron, for all his greatness,
05:30just isn't the LeBron of even four or five years ago,
05:35which of course he's not, because he's still a human being.
05:38It would be fun to watch LeBron James
05:41and Steph Curry play together.
05:43I just don't believe,
05:44after all the different machinations here,
05:46especially with Ronnie in tow,
05:49he's going to go anywhere else other than LA.
05:52But the pipe dream is that you trade for Durant
05:54before the deadline on Thursday,
05:56and then LeBron ops out and comes here in the off season,
06:00so you run back that Olympic dream team.
06:03I don't know what would be left of you in Boston.
06:04And Kevin's saying they call it the Avengers,
06:06and they have the text chain.
06:07So you'd have Steph at 37, KD at 37, and LeBron at 41,
06:12and you'd give it a go for one year.
06:13It would be fantastic theater.
06:16I don't know if it would translate to a winning team,
06:19especially when you talk about an 82 game slog,
06:23because as you know, I didn't mean to hit you with slog,
06:26because having been on the beat,
06:29like you're here, you're there, you're everywhere,
06:31and you're not even out there playing.
06:33And these guys at 37, 37, and 41 years of age,
06:37trying to get through 82,
06:38and then trying to win 16 more over two months,
06:42it seems unbelievably daunting.
06:44It's one thing to go to France
06:46and hang out at the Eiffel Tower for a couple of weeks
06:49and beat South Sudan in a nail-biter.
06:52It's another thing to play 24 back-to-backs
06:56and play all the marquee games
06:58and all the national TV games and all the rest of it, so.
07:01Mr. Dibbs, that would be the most intriguing team,
07:06I think, of my lifetime,
07:09if those three guys were to somehow ever get together.
07:12I don't see it happening for all the different reasons
07:15that we've all discussed for a long time.
07:18It would really be fun,
07:20but it actually, it's interesting,
07:23because the question to me would be,
07:26is that better or worse for the league?
07:29Obviously, it's great in the short term and would be,
07:33but it's like you have these three guys
07:35who are all about to fade away off into the sunset,
07:39and who else do you have coming up behind them?
07:43It's the same question
07:44that the NBA's trying to figure out right now.
07:46All I know is, if ever there was a moment
07:49to actually try and find it happening,
07:52it's now for Mike Dunleavy in that front office.
07:55Sadly, though, even as we're talking about it,
07:58as fantastic as those three guys are,
08:01and certainly they would be rejuvenated
08:03in this pipe dream scenario playing together,
08:07I don't even know if they're good enough
08:10to get through Dibb's four rounds of the playoffs
08:14after an 82-game season,
08:16even if you're wrestling them
08:17and doing everything you can.
08:18Probably not.
08:19I mean, probably they would not be favored to do so,
08:22I don't think.
08:23Nick, you just brought up this front office.
08:26You know this front office.
08:27You know how they operate.
08:29So, after Luka and De'Aaron Fox go,
08:33I wonder what you think about this.
08:36Over the next two and a half days,
08:38are they being driven more by basketball or PR?
08:45I think that is a really good question, Mr. Willard,
08:49and I would tell you that.
08:51Thank you, Nick.
08:51I need to appreciate that one.
08:54I was waiting for our little, our drop on that.
08:56There needs to be some sort of thing.
08:58Some recognition of.
08:59Something.
09:00But I think it's still basketball.
09:03I really do.
09:03Okay.
09:04Because.
09:05They're not afraid of the fan base
09:06being mad Thursday afternoon.
09:07No, this group, especially with Joe Lacob at the top,
09:12they want to win.
09:13I have always believed that.
09:15I've always seen it with their actions
09:18in how they put everything together.
09:20I know the fan base is frustrated.
09:22All I have to do is click on the app
09:24and listen to you guys' show every day.
09:27People are really, really upset.
09:29Having said that, I'd much rather have this ownership
09:33and this front office than a vast majority
09:37of the other ownerships
09:38and the other front offices in the league.
09:41They'll do what is best for their team long-term.
09:45I don't believe that Mike Dunleavy and Joe Lacob,
09:49and when they talk to Steve Kerr are going to say,
09:51all right, let's just demolish the roster
09:54that we do have around Steph right now
09:56for something that we think maybe could get us into
09:59the second round.
10:01I just don't think that makes sense.
10:02And that brings us back to Nikola Vucevic and Cam Johnson.
10:06It's interesting because last week I was out,
10:09Mark and Mark Grandy did basically the whole show
10:12on Cam Johnson and what you could do if you got him,
10:16what you'd have to give up to get him
10:18and how that would make you better.
10:19And next year you'd have a good young scoring wing as well.
10:23And it feels like now,
10:25after everything that happened this weekend,
10:26that would be a disappointment.
10:28Is that something that fans just need to get over?
10:30Because if you got Vucevic,
10:32everyone's been wanting a stretch five forever.
10:35Shout out Quentin Post and his brief little stint
10:38as a player, whatever.
10:41He's been kind of fun for a week and a half,
10:43but if you got one of those guys,
10:46you'd be better, right?
10:48You'd be better.
10:49Wouldn't be sexy.
10:50Yeah, no, it wouldn't be.
10:52I just love that we're in the year of our Lord,
10:542025 talking about Quentin Post.
10:57Yeah.
10:58I mean, what a moment in time that this is coming together.
11:02I think between he and Lindy and Guy,
11:05they got something there, Nick.
11:06I mean, that's like the backup band
11:09that plays at the holidays on the weekends.
11:11You know, I've seen Bruno's somewhere.
11:13It's Bruno Mars with Lindy, Guy, and Quentin.
11:15Yeah, I mean, look, Mr. Dibbs,
11:18do I think that they can make a move?
11:21Yeah, again, Vuce, as he's known in Chicago, he fits.
11:27He's going to make them better, but it's all on the margins.
11:31That, to me, is the larger takeaway
11:34for such a frustrated fan base.
11:37This team just is not good enough.
11:40You watch them, you see it night to night.
11:43Can they beat the Thunder?
11:44Yes.
11:46Do you really think that they can beat
11:48any one of these teams over and over in the postseason,
11:52given what it would take?
11:54No.
11:55And is Nikola Vucevic, the guy who is going to
11:59be some kind of game changer for a roster
12:03that really needs a lot more help than that?
12:05I don't think so.
12:06I like Cam Johnson.
12:07I covered him when I was in Brooklyn.
12:09He was part of that deal with, there we go.
12:13I mean, I've been waiting.
12:14Like, I had it dropped 15 times last time I was here.
12:18There we go.
12:19But Cam Johnson is a hell of a player.
12:21He would fit into the system.
12:23He's a really popular teammate.
12:25He would get all the free shots you'd think he'd want
12:28off the bubble that we know Steph provides.
12:31The issue is, he's just a nice player.
12:34He's not the type of guy that takes you from,
12:37again, the middle, where they are right now,
12:40to the front, or close to it, of the West.

12:58And remember, the key word that you need
13:00to claim a spot in the knockout tournament
13:01at Chase Center is just moments away,
13:04in about 10 minutes or less.
13:06So stay right where you are, keep listening.
13:09You guys wanna take some calls?
13:10Let's get this in here.
13:12Jake and Lafayette, you're on with Willard Dibbs
13:15and Nick Fridell.
13:16Hey Jake, what's up?
13:19Well, I'm kind of agreeing with what you guys are saying
13:21in terms of what's out there.
13:23But I can't, when you think about our defense,
13:26most of the deals have made the teams worse on defense,
13:31especially the Luka moving to LA.
13:35Where we could get a little advantage
13:37is kind of go for a defender.
13:39And somebody like Cam Johnson is at least an athletic wing
13:43who can also shoot a three.
13:46And maybe we could use a rim protector,
13:49and maybe not anybody great,
13:50but just somebody who can play some defense,
13:53take a little bit of load off of Looney.
13:56Because he's, you know, he's amazing,
13:59but I don't know that he can hold up the whole season again.
14:03So it just seems like that's where we should go,
14:05because we're not gonna be able to make
14:07a big swing this summer either.
14:10That's my guess.
14:11I think things are gonna get harder to do, not easier.
14:14And personally, I don't care if we keep Kaminga or not.
14:20I don't see him being a,
14:23much more than maybe a number two, two A or two B.
14:28You know, not a strong number two,
14:30because he doesn't handle well enough
14:32to get his own shot in the half court.
14:35He needs an open court to really move,
14:38and in that situation, he's amazing.
14:41But I'm not sure he could anchor next to Steph
14:45the kind of offense that we need to run.
14:49Jake, thanks, appreciate it.
14:50The Kaminga thing is so interesting.
14:52You hear everything from,
14:54and this is even just within the walls of the Warriors,
14:57everything from this could be a future All-Star
15:00to it's been frustrating in terms of inconsistency,
15:06and quite frankly, for an organization
15:09that's focused on the biggest prize, just a guy.
15:13You hear everything in that spectrum,
15:15and you've heard it the whole time.
15:17And Mark, what I have felt all along,
15:21now watching him more from a distance in the last year,
15:24is I think he is a talented player
15:26who's going to get better.
15:28But this was my point to you guys two weeks ago.
15:30This is certainly my point now
15:32into the trade deadline and beyond.
15:34What fans feel about Kaminga now
15:38is going to change whenever that next big deal comes through.
15:43It's a good point.
15:44The perspective that you have on him
15:47as whatever the player he is and will be
15:50is going to change based on how much money
15:53the Warriors or somewhere else is going to pay him.
15:57It's why if you were asking,
15:59do you believe enough in Kaminga to give him 30, 40,
16:03whatever the number ends up being, we'll see.
16:05I mean, we don't know what it's going to be,
16:07but do you believe in the ceiling enough?
16:10I never have.
16:11And this goes back from watching him in the beginning,
16:14and I know he's coming along more,
16:17but if you have Draymond,
16:20and I know it's been a topic conversation
16:22on the station for a while,
16:23but Kaminga's never going to be able
16:25to kind of spread his wings
16:27the way that you would want him to.
16:29So I don't buy that Kaminga is the next great player
16:35for the organization.
16:37Maybe he is.
16:39Maybe I'll be wrong.
16:40Like the Wiggins trade, it happens.
16:43The issue to me though is,
16:45as you're trying to break down
16:46what is coming in the next couple days
16:48and in the next year or two,
16:49once you sign Kaminga, if you keep him,
16:53and that goes to the caller's point,
16:55you're kind of, you are who you are.
16:57There's not too many other-
16:59Well, unless you give him the Jordan Poole treatment,
17:01which, you know, you signed Poole-
17:02You signed him and then he's gone.
17:03Right, you signed him
17:04and he became a much more tradable piece.
17:06And that's why I think about if you trade him now
17:09between here and the deadline on Thursday,
17:12he's a throw in because he's only making seven millions.
17:15But if you sign him-
17:16The numbers are a lot tougher to make work out.
17:17Right, if you sign him for 30
17:19and then you get into next year at the deadline
17:23or even preseason, that 30 becomes a real valuable piece.
17:26And, you know, especially if you find a team like Brooklyn
17:30that thinks he's worth more than 30.
17:32And if you sign him for 25 and, you know,
17:34then the contract becomes much more valuable.
17:36And that I think is partly what we see with Andrew Wiggins.
17:40Yes, he's a good player.
17:41He's never going to be any better than what you've seen,
17:44but his contract is really team friendly.
17:48So if you are a suitor out there,
17:50you can take on Wiggins and not feel like
17:52you're getting a Zach Levine contract,
17:54which is an albatross.
17:55You're getting a good solid player
17:58and a really team friendly deal.
18:00So he becomes more attractive because of what he's making.
18:03Mr. Dibbs, the point is very well taken.
18:05The issue to me though, is if you buy that Kaminga
18:09is going to develop to that level
18:11that you're going to pay him,
18:12you have to believe that he's going to continue to improve
18:15at some different level year after year after year.
18:19That's in the eye of the beholder.
18:21I'm watching Kaminga and I'm saying,
18:23talented young player will get better,
18:26not worth the value that you'd have to place on him
18:30into the future.
18:31The question though,
18:32and I think the pool comparison is very good.
18:36Can you trust that Kaminga is going to get that much better
18:39where there would be a market for him?
18:42That not only that you could make a trade,
18:43because I think we've seen anybody's trade
18:45in the league somehow,
18:47it's that you're going to get back enough in return
18:50where it's going to make sense
18:52for you to continue building up your team
18:54to get to that next point.
18:56That's what would worry me.
18:58And that's in any conversation with Kaminga
19:00or any other player.
19:02That's the big one for me,
19:03because the willingness to deal picks now,
19:06to me has to be attached to your belief
19:09that if things don't go well,
19:10you could replenish them down the road.
19:12And Jonathan Kaminga could be the guy,
19:15if you think he's going to develop,
19:17he could be the guy that could bring that back to you
19:19if things aren't going well.
19:20Philmo Mike is on the line.
19:22Philmo!
19:23Philmo Mike, do your thing!
19:26Oh man, y'all out here,
19:28I gotta, man, y'all tripping.
19:30First of all, nobody wants to see,
19:33first of all, nobody wants to see
19:35old ass KD, Steph, and LeBron on the same team.
19:37We got that, it was cute.
19:39Nobody cares about that.
19:41Are we trying to win a championship?
19:43And like I said earlier, we trying to do PR run.
19:45I don't care about the PR run.
19:47I care about championship.
19:48With that being said,
19:50it's no player out there, buddies.
19:53Bruce, I mean, excuse me, Bruce, oh my God.
19:55Dibs, excuse me, Dibs, Mark, and Nick.
20:00There's no player out there
20:01that's going to do what y'all talking about.
20:03And meanwhile, y'all keep talking to artists
20:05about Kaminga and what he can do,
20:08but the things that he can do, we need.
20:11Why would we get older?
20:13Like, what are y'all talking about?
20:14Philmo, let me ask you a question.
20:17No, because I got the question for you.
20:19Because what I see is something that doesn't match up.
20:23I will hear people say this.
20:25You just said, I'm all about championships,
20:28but then the next sentence,
20:30you said there's no player out there
20:33that's going to do that for Golden State.
20:35So if that's how you feel, then what's the move, Philmo?
20:39Do you just want to sit here and wait and hope
20:44and think that Kaminga might someday
20:47be a generational talent that'll lead you?
20:50Like, if you think the no player out there
20:52makes you a contender,
20:54but you're only here for contention, then what's your play?
20:59My play is this, Mark.
21:00I'm glad you asked that question.
21:02I'm not sitting my ass here.
21:04I would sit down.
21:06First of all, what's a generational talent?
21:09Anthony Davis?
21:11Anthony Edwards?
21:12Define that to me.
21:14I will.
21:15Steph Curry is one.
21:17Steph Curry is one, Philmo.
21:19Okay, that's one, and how many players?
21:21Well, but you said you're only about-
21:22So God is one, and how many players?
21:24You're not going to find no generational talent.
21:26You're not.
21:27Don't cut me off.
21:28Do not cut me off.
21:29No, no, Philmo, hold up.
21:31I'm not going to hang up on you,
21:32but it's our show.
21:33We'll cut you off when we want.
21:34The point is, is that if you're only about rings,
21:38but you don't think you're going to find those ring players,
21:41you've boxed yourself into an impossible scenario.
21:45Do you understand what I'm saying?
21:47You're saying that you boxed yourself into a scenario
21:51in which it's for this year.
21:53I don't care about this year, buddy.
21:55We got four rings.
21:57First of all, you got to remember this.
21:58We're trying to have more rings than LeBron.
22:00We want Steph to have more rings than LeBron.
22:03I don't know why y'all,
22:04I don't know who thought about teaming them up together
22:07and sharing a legacy.
22:09That ain't cool.
22:10And then Nick Fredil said one thing,
22:11and I'm going to get off the phone.
22:13We're not mad at the Warriors.
22:14We understand the Warriors, it is what it is.
22:17I hate to bring this up, but it is Super Bowl week.
22:19We're mad at the Niners.
22:21You had a squad, and you done tricked off
22:25two, three Super Bowls.
22:27That's who we mad at.
22:28We not mad at the Warriors, Nick Fredil,
22:31in all due fairness to a real Frisconian,
22:34real millennial player, guy out here.
22:36We don't care about that.
22:37That's cute, but we mad about,
22:39we're mad about the Niners.
22:41Goddamn, got the Eagles and the Chiefs.
22:43God.
22:44Yeah, that's rough.
22:45Philmore, you're welcome here anytime.
22:47Do you get where I'm saying?
22:48I don't understand why we go here.
22:52If we're like, we're only about rings,
22:55but there's no way to make this season about rings.
22:58But what we care about is Steph getting more rings
23:01than LeBron, but there's no way that we're gonna
23:03get Steph a ring.
23:04We're talking in a circle that it's a Rubik's Cube.
23:08There's no answer.
23:09Mark, that Philmo call really is perfect
23:12because it's an encapsulation of where the fan base
23:15is right now.
23:16He's saying in one breath, ah, we're not that mad.
23:21They've won four titles.
23:22They've done what they can, and in the next breath,
23:24he's saying, well, it's all about championships.
23:27The sad reality for where the Warriors are at right now
23:31is the high probability that there's not another
23:34championship coming, and it's not coming with Steph
23:37or anybody else because of all the different moves
23:41that have led up to this point.
23:43That is a full stop.
23:46People have to start to accept the fact
23:48that a team that has been so proud
23:50and has been so great for so long
23:52just isn't able to get back to that point.
23:56If people would accept that, it would be easier
23:59to just ride off into the sunset with Steph
24:01and say, all right, let's just go watch number 30
24:03every other couple nights at Chase Center and enjoy it.
24:07But people are competitive.
24:09The fan base has been spoiled in the best possible way.
24:12The problem, though, bringing it all full circle
24:15is there's not that move that puts them
24:19in a different place than where everybody wants to be.
24:23I just don't think it exists.
24:24That's a wonderful launching point.
