00:00That's right, John Sally is going to join us at 11 o'clock, and Mike Martz, former coach
00:05of the St. Louis Rams, comes in at 1 o'clock.
00:09But I guess the most special guest has just arrived, Daryl the Guru Johnson.
00:19It's amazing listening to you and Evan while I'm in the car, and I'm like, this is when
00:23I need you, pal, talking to you, just have my back.
00:27And I hated the dog, hate the homework, excuse me.
00:31Where did you do that one?
00:33Where did you break down?
00:34Isleton.
00:35City called Isleton.
00:36I was going to back roads, the Bruce Wayne roads, so it was scary to change the flat
00:42because it was on the driver's side.
00:45My rear would have been to the road, so it was condensed, but anyway, because Norm raised
00:49a man, I was able to change the flat myself, and then that threw it off.
00:53And if you check the time stamp, I text you guys on the road at 7 about what I was going
00:59to do for show prep, because that was on my mind.
01:03But anyway.
01:04Well, first of all, I'm getting word that it's Isleton from my producers, but then secondly,
01:12I mean, nobody doubts that story, but do me a favor, just show me your hands.
01:22I use my workout gloves, because there's not a stitch of grease on those hands.
01:26Yeah, but look, I use my workout gloves to change the flat.
01:29Come on, man.
01:30You keep a bag in the bag.
01:31Anyway, I've been doing this 12 years.
01:35This is the first time I've ever come on a show that I was a part of after the beginning,
01:42so it's weird.
01:43I apologize.
01:44Yeah.
01:45Oh, he didn't hear that.
01:47You know, George Costanza of Seinfeld's got one of the greatest lines of all time, and
01:52he was known to fudge the truth a little bit, and he said, Jerry, it's not a lie if you
02:01believe it.
02:02Whoa.
02:03But who's saying that?
02:04Oh, I just, just whispers, whispers.
02:09All right.
02:10Nah.
02:11Hey, you want Jimmy Butler?
02:13You want LeBron James?
02:14Get in the game.
02:16You're now on the air.
02:18Let's go.
02:19Give us some opinions.
02:21I just, I want Butler, but I want the old Butler.
02:25You know what I'm saying?
02:26Oh, you'll get the old one.
02:27Yeah, but there's some thread on the tire, but I feel like if he were to get traded to
02:31this nucleus of Draymond and Steph Stiney, he might know, you know what, I'm tired of
02:36joshing around.
02:37It don't hurt as much.
02:38I'm going to play.
02:39So it sounds good, but if it's costing me Cominga's future, man, I'm going to say no.
02:45All right.
02:47So it's 8-8-9-5-7, 9-5-7-0 is the number.
02:49I played the Brian Wienhorst sound.
02:51I'm going to play it again right now for Goo, and we're going to get into it because I think
02:56people want to discuss it, and if it's not LeBron James, then who is it, if anybody?
03:02When the Heat made it clear they were not going to extend his contract, we were probably
03:05headed for an ending of the ways between the Heat and Jimmy Butler.
03:10I wouldn't say it's a done deal yet, but I think teams are starting to kick the tires
03:14there and look and see what it might take, and the Warriors are one of them.
03:17The Warriors have been really active in trying to look for a star player.
03:21They kicked the tires on a couple other stars over the summer, and if Jimmy Butler is available
03:27and the Warriors feel like they need to upgrade, that could be.
03:30But who else is on their list, Roz?
03:32That's LeBron James, and I know that this is one of the most fascinating opportunities
03:36in the league.
03:37It's a delicious scenario to think about.
03:39The Warriors have dreamed of pairing LeBron with Steph Curry and Draymond Green since
03:43last year.
03:44They've made an inquiry, and it got shut down last February.
03:49That was before LeBron played with Steve Kerr and Steph Curry and won the gold medal over
03:53the summer.
03:54So, they will definitely monitor the situation, and I don't think they do anything without
03:58knowing this door is locked.
04:00But I would just say with LeBron, it's up to him.
04:03He has no trade clause, and he has given no indication he wants the Lakers to do anything
04:07but upgrade the roster they've got.
04:09Not that he wants to go anywhere.
04:10Yeah, I already told you this last year.
04:12I don't think LeBron will ever leave L.A.
04:15That's just me.
04:16And I don't think he'll leave Anthony Davis, but...
04:19I actually think he'd leave in a heartbeat, but that's me.
04:22But why?
04:23To play with Steph.
04:24To play with Steph.
04:25Well, you've got Anthony Davis right now.
04:28Well...
04:29You've had him the last couple years.
04:31Maybe...
04:32Hey, LeBron has shown a penchant for up and moving over the course of his career, and...
04:40Where does that put the Warriors if they were to get LeBron or Jimmy Buckets?
04:43Again, they would be a problem in the West.
04:47Wouldn't be a play-in if you got Jimmy Butler or LeBron, but are you willing to say night-night
04:52to Kaminga?
04:53And what has Kaminga done with Miami and...
04:55But when you break up, you don't care about what happens to the other person.
04:59You want good for them, but you're worried about the now, the immediate, and the immediate
05:03is...
05:04Ever since Jonathan Kaminga scored 33, all of a sudden, these weird reports are not weird,
05:11but all of a sudden, they've resurfaced, and I'm just like, is that the Warriors, or what's
05:15going on here?
05:17You know, when you say nobody cares where a guy goes after they leave, even if they
05:21have success, there's a guy I'm thinking of.
05:24Give it to me.
05:25And I wonder if...
05:28Would you like to be the L.A. Clippers, knowing that you had a franchise point guard under
05:34control, in Shea Gilgis Alexander, and you made a move to try to make something happen
05:40a lot faster than his normal growth?
05:43Could you live with Kaminga if he turns into a similar type player, and I know, and here
05:49come the texts, they'll never be as good as Shea Gilgis, but...
05:54Bad boy.
05:55If you're going to trade Kaminga, you better be prepared for watching a heck of a player
06:00on another team when he's 25, 26 years old.
06:04Now, let me ask you this.
06:06The rat on the table is, it's not about, to me, if it works.
06:10You hope it works, but you're doing this solely to show Steph Curry, we did it all for you.
06:16We tried.
06:17Yeah.
06:18And that's what this, a big move like this would signal.
06:205-1-0 on the Comcast Business text line.
06:23There's no path to matching Jimmy Butler's salary.
06:27That doesn't make the Warriors worse.
06:29And there's no path to LeBron, period.
06:31These moves are not happening.
06:33Okay?
06:35But what about all the reports that the Warriors, and this is the one I disagree with.
06:40I think Windhorse used the phrase, the Warriors have an itchy trigger finger right now.
06:45Yeah, well, they went hunting in the summer.
06:47But I don't think they do.
06:48That's not who Mike Dunleavy is.
06:50So where do you think this is coming from, all of a sudden?
06:52I think there's a lot of talk right now.
06:54Because we've got a little while for the trade deadline.
06:56And I think that's why there's a lot of talk right now.
06:58Because I think we all know these things take time.
07:00They take weeks.
07:01They take months.
07:02You tinker with them.
07:03You go back and forth.
07:04You get other offers.
07:05You start weighing everything.
07:07But now's when you've got to start talking about it and figuring out who might have some
07:11interest in your players and who might not have some interest in the players that you
07:15have.
07:16Okay.
07:17So I actually think Mike Dunleavy is probably making a ton of calls.
07:23But that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to do something sooner rather than later.
07:28So last year, what we do know, and I'm going to put Dunleavy to the side, Joe Lacob called
07:34the Lakers and asked about LeBron James.
07:37Do you think today, right now, before they take on Houston in the cup game, do you think
07:43he would just give up Jonathan Kaminka and his future and any part of the deal to get
07:49LeBron?
07:50I think he might.
07:51I do.
07:52I think he might.
07:55Because if no other reason.
07:58So that's more than 50-50, he might.
08:00I mean, I think if he had an opportunity and he liked the deal, I think he would.
08:04I really do.
08:06You know, even though it might not automatically say, well, now the Warriors are title contenders,
08:11they would certainly get back to the top of the NBA food chain in terms of interest and
08:17all those kind of things.
08:19The one thing that I've been thinking about a lot with, if you want to get a Butler or
08:24you want to get a LeBron James, etc., a big guy in here, an older guy, I'm a guy who always
08:32is scared about not having draft picks in the future.
08:36And one of the things that I've got to realize, though, is if the Golden State Warriors think
08:44that they are the Lakers, the Celtics, even the Heat, if they think they're in that league,
08:52then I think they're more likely to do it.
08:54And the reason I say that is because I could see Joe Lacob saying, you know what, I don't
09:00like the idea of giving up draft picks for LeBron James, but if we're a team like the
09:05Lakers and we are a destination, you know what?
09:11We have the ability to give up young players because we know damn well in two years, if
09:19we set it up to have cap space, we will be able to get the next available free agent star.
09:24That's exciting.
09:25And so, to me, if they were to do this, something like this, and Butler comes in here, LeBron
09:32comes in here, somebody else who's, I don't know who else is as old as those guys who
09:36are as effective as those guys, but if they do that, to me, it signals that now they're
09:43thinking more about free agency than kind of building through the draft.
09:48And I'll tell you what, Stoddy, because a bird in the hand is better than two in the
09:51bush.
09:52As a fan, that's exciting, knowing that it's not about whoever you go get can dance.
09:58They're already proven as opposed to the draft.
10:01And you know, what's funny is what we're way down the road with Moody and coming in,
10:05you know, past draft picks, top past draft picks, and you still don't know.
10:11We know, but we don't know.
10:12You know, we're waiting.
10:13But if you chose that Laker model, man, man, that's going to Nordstrom's every offseason.
10:21That's when you get something that you already know is proven.
10:24Well, assuming you can get them, no doubt, I assume you can get them.
10:28And kind of what I'm talking about is, okay, you go for broke with a LeBron or a Jimmy
10:33Butler.
10:34I like that.
10:35Go for broke.
10:36And it doesn't, let's say it doesn't work out.
10:37All right.
10:38Well, then you use a year to figure out your books, to get under the cap, to create space,
10:44and then you bank on getting, I don't know, who's coming up free agency in the next couple
10:50of years.
10:51Shea Gilgis?
10:52Could you go get him?
10:54I mean, all the big names in theory would be available if you'd have room for a max
11:00slot.
11:01And if you really have confidence in your organization that you have something here
11:06that great players are going to want to come to, well, then maybe you change your philosophy
11:10a little bit.
11:11Yeah, I was reading yesterday, De'Aaron Foxty, if his future is up in the air, who knows
11:16if he's going to stay in Macromedo?
11:189570 is the number.
11:25Let's jump into it.
11:27He's been waiting the longest.
11:28Let's go to Gabriel in Davis, not far from where Guru broke down earlier today, I believe.
11:36But what's up, Gabriel?
11:37How you doing?
11:38Hey, guys.
11:39How's it going, man?
11:40Talk to us.
11:41I got some things for you.
11:42All right.
11:43So, for the Warriors, I would simply say, I think they should go after Zion Williamson.
11:49I just saw something on ESPN, they were talking about it, that he's got a contract that gets
11:54voided after this year because, obviously, his health and stuff.
11:58But you can bring him in, and they were saying, give him Wiggins, Moody, and Looney, and then
12:03the salaries work.
12:04And you can bring in Zion, have him kind of have a leader like Draymond or Steph to kind
12:10of show him the ropes.
12:11And if it doesn't work out, you just let him walk, and you just save that money on
12:14contracts, and you go, big fish, honey, for something later in the offseason.
12:19And then the second thing I wanted to just give a shout out to UC Davis, I don't know
12:22if you guys have known this, but they just joined the Great Mountain West Conference.
12:27Nice.
12:28In all sports, but football, but it looks like they're going to make the leap in football
12:32from SCS to FBS, so that's big news out of Davis, but that's all I got, guys.
12:37Appreciate the call.
12:38You know, Aggies, right?
12:39Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:40Let me tell you something.
12:41Let me tell you something about college football, and I know about it now.
12:45I'm out.
12:46Be careful what you wish for, Cal Aggies, or Davis Aggies, because you want to start
12:51elevating a program, you know what that means?
12:53You're going to lose, guys.
12:54I saw it firsthand at Tulane.
12:57It happened today.
12:58We were one of the best young quarterbacks in football, Darion Mensah, and now he's going
13:02to Duke.
13:03Go Green Wave!
13:04And I'm hot about it.
13:05Danny Dimes, man.
13:06I'm hot about it.
13:07He dipped out?
13:08So yeah, you know what?
13:10Go raise the profile of your college football program, and you better get ready for some
13:14heartache.
13:15This is why I'm not a fan anymore.
13:17You can't even get used to having players on your own team, let alone an 18-year-old
13:25from California, which is where he's from.
13:29Anyway, we need a quarterback now.
13:32Wait till I talk to Baldy.
13:34I don't like it.
13:35925 says, not even close, Stiney.
13:38What are you referring to, sir?
13:40What's not even close?
13:43Let's go to Savala in Richmond.
13:47What's up, Savala?
13:48How you doing?
13:49Darion Mensah.
13:50Hey, guys.
13:51Hey.
13:52Hey.
13:53I'm doing good.
13:54Love listening to the show, always.
13:55Sorry I was late, Savala.
13:56Yeah, that was...
13:57I mean, it's not so much that you were late.
13:58It's the excuse, you know?
14:00Savala, I had a plan.
14:01What do you mean, lie?
14:02Well, I've heard that before.
14:03I've used that before.
14:04Well, I have it in my 12-year radio career, Savala.
14:05Don't let Stiney poison you.
14:06I had a plan.
14:07All I can say, Guru...
14:08Oh, my gosh.
14:09...you know the day and age.
14:10If you have a flat, you need to take a video on your phone of yourself with the flat...
14:34Great call.
14:35...and check that into work.
14:36Oh, I...
14:37Right?
14:38No, I work with great guys.
14:39I don't have to do that.
14:40Now, you said you hadn't used that excuse for this job.
14:45Does that mean that it has happened?
14:47No, seriously, I'm telling you, you better be real careful right now.
14:50I'm just telling you, lie.
14:51I'll risk it all.
14:52I did it coming in here.
14:54Don't play with me.
14:55You got Savala thinking I didn't have a flat.
14:56Who the hell are you?
14:57I gotta lie to.
14:58You Evan Spadoni in Madden, where I gotta lie to nobody.
14:59I had a flat.
15:00Damn.
15:01Oh, my God.
15:02You got Savala thinking I'm lying.
15:03I don't have Savala thinking that.
15:04Don't lie to me.
15:05Don't lie to me.
15:06Don't lie to me.
15:07Don't lie to me.
15:08You got Savala thinking I didn't.
15:09The dog ate my homework.
15:10What kind of weak-minded individual goes to the negative first?
15:14Hey, Goo, you all right?
15:16Show me your hands.
15:17I texted you yesterday.
15:18Oh, shut up.
15:20Show me your hands.
15:21You said that.
15:22You know what?
15:23It's all good, baby.
15:24Apparently it's not.
15:25I'm being honest.
15:26It was wrong.
15:27And then the MFers don't even call me to see where I'm at.
15:28I knew you were going to answer.
15:29I'm talking to see if I'm going to make it.
15:30Evan, I have to make it.
15:31I'm going to make it.
15:32I'm going to make it.
15:33I'm going to make it.
15:34I'm going to make it.
15:35I'm going to make it.
15:36I'm going to make it.
15:38I'm going to make it.
15:39I'm going to make it.
15:40I'm going to make it.
15:41I'm going to make it.
15:42I'm going to make it.
15:43I'm going to make it.
15:44I'm going to make it.
15:45I'm going to make it.
15:46I'm going to make it.
15:47I'm going to make it.
15:48I'm going to make it.
15:49I'm going to make it.
15:50I'm going to make it.
15:51I'm going to make it.
15:52I'm going to make it.
15:53I'm going to make it.
15:54I'm going to make it.
15:55I'm going to make it.
15:56I'm going to make it.
15:57I'm going to make it.
15:58I'm going to make it.
15:59I'm going to make it.
16:00I'm going to make it.
16:01I'm going to make it.
16:02I'm going to make it.
16:03I'm going to make it.
16:04I'm going to make it.
16:05I'm going to make it.
16:06I'm going to make it.
16:07I'm going to make it.
16:08I'm going to make it.
16:09I'm going to make it.
16:10I'm going to make it.
16:11I'm going to make it.
16:12I'm going to make it.
16:13I'm going to make it.
16:14I'm going to make it.
16:15I'm going to make it.
16:16I'm going to make it.
16:17I'm going to make it.
16:18I'm going to make it.
16:19I'm going to make it.
16:20I'm going to make it.
16:21I'm going to make it.
16:22I'm going to make it.
16:23I'm going to make it.

19:13I'm going to make it.
19:14I'm going to make it.
19:16Oh, well, it went bad last time.
19:19Have me a call, because I called her to share the line to her.
19:22Wow.
19:23I can't stop.
19:24I can't help myself.
19:25But you're enjoying it.
19:26It's the worst part.
19:27Oh, it's fun.
19:28This sucker.
19:29You're the one.
19:30You're the one who loves the phrase, radio's theater of the mind.
19:35We're just having fun.
19:36Yeah, I know.
19:37I went in on Langford.
19:38I'm reaching.
19:39I didn't hear you.
19:40Let's go to William in D.C.
19:41What's up, William?
19:42How you doing?
19:43You better be careful.
19:44Good afternoon.
19:45Hey.
19:46What's up, William?
19:47Yeah, so here's what I got with the Warriors, right?
19:50I don't agree with LeBron.
19:52I don't agree with Jimmy Butler.
19:54I don't think the offense will work when you take them out.
19:57If they start and you take them out, it doesn't make sense.
20:00Believe it or not, the trade that makes sense the most is you go to the
20:04Wizards, you get you Val and Tunis, you get you Kispert,
20:07and you get Jordan Poole back.
20:09Reason for it?
20:11He's proven to get you to the playoff.
20:13What you need is someone that can get you at least 30 points on any given
20:16night.
20:17I don't think if you take Steph Curry out,
20:21Schroeder and Cam Johnson will give you what you need when Steph Curry is
20:26sitting on the bench.
20:27No.
20:28You need someone that's proven offense.
20:30At least 15.
20:32I'm looking at Jordan Poole.
20:34I'm looking at Kispert.
20:35I'm looking at Val and Tunis.
20:36This means I'm going to trade.
20:39I'm going to trade Moody.
20:41I'm going to trade Lindy Waters and I'm going to give up a draft pick.
20:45This sets you up for a possible championship this year and it sets you
20:48up for the future, which means you're not really giving up anything.
20:51Over.
20:52That's all I have.
20:53I appreciate the call.
20:57You know what?
20:58I think for the sake of this season, when we talk about trades,
21:01we've got to leave Moody out because he just signed a contract.
21:06Where he's at right now in his situation, it's called a poison pill,
21:11which means this year he's on the last year of his rookie deal,
21:14so he makes about four.
21:16But next year he's going to make 13.
21:18And so you've got to find a team that has enough room now to take 13
21:24instead of the four because that's what he's going to make.
21:27And so it just makes it very complicated.
21:29Almost like he's protected in a sense.
21:31Yeah, no doubt.
21:32And it would have been the same with Kaminga.
21:35Had he gotten signed to an extension in the offseason,
21:38he would have been virtually impossible to trade.
21:40But I will say this, if you're talking pods, Moody, Lindy, Waters,
21:43that's not going to get it done.
21:45Right.
21:46I was like, it's just not going to get it done.
21:48To get something sunny in this world, I've told you this.
21:51You got to give something up, man.
21:53The question I have the Warrior fans right now is Jonathan Kaminga has
22:00played two great games in the last three games.
22:04And I think we've got to be realistic that if the Warriors like Kaminga,
22:10they'd prefer not to trade him.
22:12And so then there's one other glaring player on this team,
22:15and it's Andrew Wiggins.
22:17And my question to Warrior fans,
22:20because it's been such an up and down roller coaster with Wiggins
22:23since he's gotten here, is do you have any problem moving Wiggins right now
22:29when, as Evan said before the show, his stock probably hasn't been higher
22:36in a while?
22:37And if you're a team around the league and you're looking at Andrew Wiggins
22:41and you know he's had a couple years of down play,
22:44but now he looks like he's back, maybe you do say,
22:48you know, he had a lot of stuff going on off the floor,
22:51and he's playing well now, and maybe he's worth it.
22:55But as Warrior fans, are we less inclined right now to move Andrew Wiggins?
23:018-8-8, 9-5-7, 9-5-7-0.
23:04I'm not, and I love Wiggins, he's having a good year,
23:06but the bottom line...
23:07I mean, you would move him.
23:08I would move him.
23:09Okay.
23:10Because we still don't have a bona fide number two score, right?
