00:00The Department of Agriculture is expecting that the National Food Security Emergency will be declared on the first week of February.

00:07It is still a long way to go before the price of rice will be lowered.

00:10Details on the country's news by Vell Custodio of PTV Manila.

00:17The target of 20.4 million metric tons of rice to be produced this year, according to the Department of Agriculture,

00:23Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund will play a big role in increasing the production of rice that is expected to start this year.

00:30It was also planned by the agency to declare the National Food Security Emergency that the price of rice will be lowered and the supply of NFA will be released.

00:38The Department of Trade and Industry in Camara said that the resolution of the National Price Coordinating Council has been approved in principle.

00:46In two working days, possibly, they will be able to issue the resolution,

00:52which means that the NPCC Secretariat has been signed by the member agency, again, in two working days.

01:17The NFA can buy rice from the cadiwa centers, local government offices, and other government agencies.

01:23The DA will also restrict the 58 pesos maximum suggested retail price of rice for the next week.

01:29If we go back, the DA and DTI gave a warning to those who are not following the 58 pesos MSRP

01:36because some rice will be scarce, which needs to be sold out of the old stocks of rice, and they will follow the implementation of MSRP.

01:44Meanwhile, the DA is also targeting the questionable increase in the price of pork,

01:49where the retail price reached 400 pesos per kilo, while the farm grade price is only playing at 220 to 240.

01:58Along with the study of the correct MSRP of pork and rice,

02:05there is a possibility that MSRP for pork will also be issued.
