00:14One of the garages was a dhoushala.
00:17My father used to live in one of the garages.
00:19And I was born there.
00:21When we went back, everything changed.
00:24They sold the land and built big buildings.
00:28How did you come to know about the Houshanlal Bhagat Ramji Garage?
00:33It's a good question.
00:35As an actor, I had a very good will.
00:39I used to reach on time for shooting.
00:46I had good relations with people.
00:49When I said that I want to make a film,
00:52everyone said that we will finance you and you will make a film.
00:57But I didn't need anyone's money.
01:01Whenever I announced my film as a producer,
01:04the distributors used to come in front of me to take my film.
01:08I still don't understand how and why they used to come.
01:12And you won't believe me,
01:15the distributors who were associated with my first film,
01:19that was my last film,
01:22they are still with me.
01:24They are still with me.
01:26The same family, they are there with me till today.
01:30How did you come to know about the Houshanlal Bhagat Ramji Garage?
01:35Earlier, there was someone else.
01:37They changed everything.
01:39Then they took Jeetendra, Neetu and me.
01:42How did you come to know about the Houshanlal Bhagat Ramji Garage?
01:47When I came to the industry,
01:49I passed out in 1978-79.
01:53I think he was 4-5 years senior to me in cinema.
01:58I had seen his film.
02:00I met him for the first time in the theatre.
02:05I used to like him because he was a good-looking guy.
02:08I used to think that I was romantic and I would become a hero.
02:13So I met him.
02:16We worked together in a film but it didn't get made.
02:19His name was Shakti Shali.
02:21It was a film by M.G. Hashmat.
02:23I was the intern.
02:25I don't know if Guruji remembers.
02:27He was very unassuming at that time.
02:31I used to talk a lot.
02:34He was very unassuming.
02:36He was a kind man.
02:38We used to meet in parties.
02:41We were not friends but I knew him.
02:44I knew his journey.
02:46He was not a superstar at that time.
02:50But like he rightly said,
02:52he had a good rapport with his family.
02:57People used to say that he was a good man.
03:00That's why all his friends were more successful than him.
03:06Be it Jitender, Rishi Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Sujit Kumar.
03:11He had a big group.
03:13He was the least successful in that group.
03:19Prem Chopra was a big character artist.
03:23So was Sujit Kumar.
03:25He had the least work.
03:27But he was a part of that group and they loved him.
03:30I think because of his quality that he was a good friend.
03:35I never asked Jitender or Rishi Kapoor to give me a role.
03:41That's why our friendship was very strong.
03:48I still don't know the meaning of this word.
03:51I read a lot of dictionaries.
03:54I still don't know what it means.
03:58Is it possible that someone can make someone?
04:02No one can make anyone.
04:04Everyone is made with their courage and talent.
04:09There are many examples like this.
04:11There are many parents.
04:13Top people launched their children.
04:16Did it work?
04:18Many didn't work.
04:20They were from rich families.
04:24They had a strong background.
04:27But eventually the audience decides what they like.
04:32Whether you become a star or not.
04:34You can't become a star with your parents' efforts.
04:47When my father expired when I was 17 years old.
04:50I was assistant director for 5 years.
04:53I did promotion and assistant director.
04:58After that I became an actor.
05:05I am not paying attention to the messages I am getting.
05:18But the messages I am getting about my father.
05:22I am so happy.
05:24As a son.
05:26Today after 50 years.
05:29I have brought him back to life.
05:32His music back to life.
05:34And people are talking about him today.
05:36That is the biggest satisfaction I am getting today.
05:44I think if I keep writing on the phone.
05:46It will be less.
05:47All the songs are good.
