00:00So let me first correct your order. I started as a model in Delhi.
00:12After that I came to Bombay. I did modelling in Bombay for a long time.
00:17And after that I started my acting career slowly.
00:20And around 2000, I did two shows which were of television.
00:30They were limited series because there were no daily shows at that time.
00:33One I did for B.R. Chopra and the other for Sony Ekta Kapoor.
00:40And simultaneously I signed my first Hindi feature film.
00:45The name of the film was Khiladi 420.
00:48In which I was launched as a parallel lead with Akshay Kumar.
00:51So my acting career started from there.
00:54After that I came to Band of Boys.
00:57I worked in Band of Boys for 3 and a half years.
01:00After that I started my acting journey again.
01:04I started doing films again.
01:06So I did a lot of films.
01:08And after that I started Anupama.
01:22That was my first daily show.
01:24So that has been more or less my journey.
01:32I think the trend of supermodel is definitely not the same.
01:36I don't know if it's over or not.
01:37But it's definitely not the same as it used to be earlier.
01:40Because when I was doing modeling,
01:44Our batch of models,
01:48I think we were all superstars in our own right.
01:52And we used to do so many big shows.
01:55Very very big shows.
01:56And big people used to come and watch it.
02:00I've done shows with all the top most designers.
02:03National, international, everybody.
02:06And now what I see is something very very different.
02:11I mean all I'm seeing is...
02:13So there's a lot of Bollywood influence that has come into fashion shows.
02:17And every show that I see today has a showstopper from Bollywood.
02:23Some Bollywood actor is a showstopper.
02:27While during our times we were all such big stars that we never...
02:33There was no trend of a showstopper of that sort.
02:36That we bring an actor from Bollywood.
02:38So yes, there is a lot of difference from then to now.
02:47Rohit Bal, I used to call him Gudda.
02:51Like most of the people who knew him personally called him.
02:54We called him Gudda.
02:55And Gudda was my mentor.
02:59My fashion career started with him.
03:01And he gave me my first break as a fashion model.
03:04And I did a lot of work with him.
03:06And I think he was the best and the biggest designer this country has ever seen.
03:14And his passing away is probably the biggest loss the fashion industry has ever seen or will ever see.
03:23Because according to me there was nobody like Rohit Bal.
03:32I don't blame anybody for not recognizing.
03:45I think everybody recognizes my talent.
03:47But I think whatever choices I made must have created or paved the path for me the way it has been.
04:00So I don't blame anybody.
04:02I feel that my career has been slow but it has been steady.
04:07I have experienced a fair bit of success at various points in my career.
04:15And I think because having come from a middle class background
04:20and having come into this industry with no godfather, no guidance, nobody to back you up.
04:26I think the journey is a little different for somebody like me.
04:30And I have learnt on the job.
04:33Everything that I have learnt is being on the job while on the job.
04:38So it has been slow. It has been steady.
04:41But I feel today wherever I am it is because of all those experiences and all the times that I had a fall.
04:50And then I rose up again and walked ahead again.
04:55It has kept me going and has kept me relevant.
04:58And people do recognize my skill and my talent.
05:02Which is why I think I still get the work that I do.
05:07And I am very happy with the way things are shaping up.
05:11And I am sure the future holds a lot more for me as an actor.
05:15And there is a lot more that I have as an actor to offer.
05:19I don't blame anybody for anything or for not recognizing.
05:37I think everybody recognizes my talent.
05:39But I think whatever choices I made must have created or paved the path for me the way it has been.
05:52So I don't blame anybody. I feel that my career has been slow but it has been steady.
05:59I have experienced fair bit of success at various points in my career.
06:06And I think because having come from a middle class background and having come into this industry with no godfather,
06:15no guidance, nobody to back you up, I think the journey is a little different for somebody like me.
06:21And I have learnt on the job. Everything that I have learnt is being on the job while on the job.
06:30So it has been slow. It has been steady. But I feel today wherever I am it is because of all those experiences.
06:38And all the times that I had a fall and then I rose up again and walked ahead again has kept me going and has kept me relevant.
06:50And people do recognize my skill and my talent.
06:54And which is why I think I still get the work that I do.
06:59And I am very happy with the way things are shaping up.
07:03And I am sure the future holds a lot more for me as an actor.
